Yes, there are astronauts and Rhodes Scholar that have graduated from UM. Your always ready to spout that. Yet a real Michigan Man one with some ethics, something sparse among UM coaches, went on the record about the abysmal graduation rates for athletes at UM particularly for black athletes. And those that do get a degree, don't get one in something that will take them through the next 40 years of their lives.

You come here to troll be it through text or graphics.

What? You mean Communications or an Undeclared major in Kinesiology doesn't set you up for life?

Are you really trying to say you don't get a good education at the University of Michigan? Seriously? I am not even going to touch that one because I would probably be typing a novel on here on how ridiculous that statement was.

When did I say it wasn't a "good" school? But it's not Duke, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Penn, etc. etc. Education is NOT a draw for Michigan. Michigan is about on par with UNC. It's not even in the league of ND, Georgetown, or UVa. Sorry, facts hurt sometimes. There is not a single kid looking to play competitive DI lax that would view a Michigan degree as a discriminator.

As for lacrosse, look, I have been saying this for awhile now. If Michigan follows the model of the Men's Soccer program, by winning the conference tournament and making the final four in the program's 10th year at NCAA level, they will be fine.

There are plans currently in development for MiS (Michigan Indoor Stadium) which will seat around 5,000. The university is showing their commitment to lacrosse and also having the official home of the team being Michigan Stadium until MiS is built. I think The Showdown in The Big House after the Spring Game, and trying to break the NCAA regular season attendance record for a game is a great way to start showcasing the program.

I noticed you mentioned ND basketball earlier. The reason ND has a bad basketball program, is it's lack of commitment and promotion by the university and average at best fan support.

Everything is correct until the part I bolded. ND is damn near unbeatable at home. Learn some facts. There is great fan support.

Since we're apparently free to waste time airing things that nobody cares about, let it be known that I find Wolverine1997's need for online attention irritating.

W1997, you'd probably be better received with the now-classic "OMG I hate back-stabbers!" update on your Facebook.

The good news is that if you take umbrage with this comment, just don't read it.

Not only do we have a stellar home-court advantage, but we play much harder opponents than michigan has in the Big Ten. Other than OSU and MSU and occasionally IU, there's nobody to worry about. Big East is a gauntlet. It's shocking to think ND will perennially be in the Top 3 of the Big East when Cuse, Pitt, and WVU run away.

You do realize that Michigan is transitioning from club to NCAA D1 right? It's going to be rough for a few years until Michigan can start getting some D1 talent in. If Michigan can follow the model of the Men's Soccer program and win a conference tournament championship and make the final four by year 10, it will be a success.

Baby steps.

Didn't the men's soccer team have a 25% (or thereabouts) winning % this past season? Aren't they something like 5-27-5 against Sparty in their history, and only 2-9-1 (or something like that) since 2000?

I agree with LAX that I don't see the 'Michigan' (the one in Ann Arbor not the one in East Lansing ;) ) Lacrosse program being truly relevant anytime in the next 2 decades. As he said, look at where the All American players tend to be from (all along the East Coast, California is pretty solid, and Pennsylvania has a good representation).

Michigan as a state has several All Americans but a large number of them are at Catholic Schools (as LAX stated), and everyone knows how welcoming the Big-Ten is to Catholics, right??

Michigan had a down season because they lost their top 3 scorers in Soony Saad, Justin Meram and Hamoody Saad (Justin & Soony went to the MLS). Michigan's program began in 2000.

I disagree on your point about Michigan not being relevant for two decades in lacrosse. Two decades? Come on.

ND has a "bad basketball program"? Because ND has one a Basketball NC? Perhaps if ND paid their players like UM and played academic games with the live of student athletes like UM does ND would have a better program, right?

You keep your bought and paid for "Fab 5". ND does things the old fashioned way having bona fide students that attend class, take real course, have majors, and graduate with meaningful degrees. IF they don't they don't play athletics at ND.

And once again your trolling is BS. For the record:

List of teams with the most victories in NCAA Division I men's college basketball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most All-Time Basketball Victories - #8 Notre Dame 1701 wins, 8 wins behind UCLA's play for pay program. BTW I don't see UM on the list. I see OSU at #37 and MSU at #38 but no Michigan.

List of teams with the highest winning percentage in NCAA Division I men's college basketball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Winningest Percentage All-Time Basketball - #14 Notre Dame Once again, NO Michigan

Here's another list, Winningest Football AND Basketball Programs

College sports all time win percentage « College Courtside

ND basketball #25 Not too bad for a "bad basketball program", is it? Once again I must be overlooking Michigan. Couldn't find them on the list. Matter of fact, Illinois is the only Big 10, or whatever number you use this week, program ranked higher. And that's all of 1 slot higher.

As I noted earlier, you come here only to troll.

I will reply to you in a PM, because I don't want to hijack the thread and change the topic to a different sport.

Michigan will win the title next year in Di Lacrosse. Denard will score about 15 goals a game falling backwards while being hit. The shots will be so soft that they will go in

Well clearly the Saad's were missed.

P.S. You're still the only one who cares.

haha, I cant believe I missed this one.

Can anyone explain to me why W1997 is still allowed on our board? When in the history of his time here, has he been a good contributor? Are we really at the point where we have a Michigan fan starting threads about UM Lacrosse?

Mods, lets quit beating around the bush and officially ban this @sshole already.

Lax, while I can't speak to how good Michigan's lacrosse team will be, it's important to correct your labeling Michigan as not being in the same league as those other schools. You pointed out that our business school is ranked number 1 overall- I'm assuming you're talking about the Businessweek's undergraduate rankings here-

Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2011 - Businessweek

Note that Michigan's Ross School of Business is ranked #6 overall. That puts it only 2 spots behind Wharton (traditionally regarded as the best business program in the country) and 4 spots ahead of Georgetown.

As for US News rankings-

National University Rankings | Top National Universities | US News Best Colleges

Michigan is listed at #28 overall... putting it just behind UVA and Georgetown.

Now, I live in Ann Arbor and it's clear to me that people here think that the school is better than it actually is... Michigan certainly isn't Harvard or Princeton... but then neither is Notre Dame.

I don't think it's hard to argue that Notre Dame is a better undergraduate institution than Michigan (though Michigan's graduate schools are far better than Notre Dame's), but to imply that it is somehow second rate is just incorrect. Their graduation rate is another matter.

In other news, Podunk State just formed their own quidditch team. Should I post their schedule?

The masses have spoken...no one really cares about Michigan club lacrosse. Case (and thread) closed.
