He's a good lineman, and a multi-year starter. You never want to lose them. But if this is the worst Winter Surprise we get this offseason, it's a pretty good winter.

Assuming it's about Elmer, who's the next man in? Montelus? Maybe Mustipher could move to RG and start Hoge?

You could have Mcglinchey and bars at Tackle, Nelson and Hoge and guard, and Mustipher at Center. I think this is what you will end up seeing.

And I think you may see Hoge at center, depending on how he does this spring. I can see your starting five, I just have McGlinchey moving to left, and switch Hodge and Mustipher. One of the few knocks on Hodge was his strength, that he was more of a tactician. Seems to me if he cracks the lineup, it would be at center, certainly not at guard for a ND offensive line.

I would actually see Kramer more likely to break into the starting lineup at guard than Hoge!

Oh yeah, why couldn't it be Corey Robinson? They clearly said leave the program, which fits better with Corey's situation as does the timing. Would definitely not have happened now if he didn't get elected President. Just spitballin' here!

Are you talking about the NFL? Or is he full on quitting football?

It was posted a month or so ago that Elmer had a job offer related to an internship he did, and that he might jump on the job offer.

It's not confirmed that this is the news that's coming, but that's pretty much what everyone expects.

I think if you have Hoge starting it's at center. That's his position, and the staff love him there. Move Mustipher to guard.

I'm 100% on board with an o-line of..

McGlinchey-Nelson-Hoge or Mustipher-Kraemer-Bars

That is because you are a genius, too!

We should start a poll as to who is leaving the football program, (not necessarily the school!)

My vote is CRob.

Of all the possibilities I can come up with, he has the toughest road to a starting position, let alone if we actually get DRob; and, he has the most to gain by not playing, (health, which has been compromised for the last two years, and a better experience, and more time to excel as President of Student Government.

I really don't see McGlinchey moving. Especially since there's a really good chance our RT is essentially our LT with Malik.

But as Kelly said last year, he wasn't really adapting the offense for Malik. He said it's a left handed quarterback in a right handed system, that's why he didn't more Stanley to the right last year. I could see them flipping McGlinchey to LT as that seems like a naturally progression for him.

On the other hand you could be right since he is already established at RT...

McGlinchey deserves LT if he's the #1 tackle as we assume. If RT and LT were in the same demand in the NFL who would care? But they are not so I hope McG is put in a position to shine. In a selfish sorta way, I hope Bars beats him out for LT so McG can watch MZ's blindside as he's done since the two stepped on campus.

Maybe Deshone will be QB though.

Ugh, no. No true freshmen OL starters please.

*I think that Kraemer will be great someday but not as a true freshman.
Idk, I think Kraemer is the best olineman prospect we've had in a long time. I think he should at the very least get a serious look at first team. I agree that I don't want to just throw him into the wolves, but I think there's a shot he could do it.

I hope Montelus or Bivin or McGovern or any of our other OL who've managed to get buried, step up to the plate. Freshman OL should redshirt whenever possible.

By ratings yes. Best in a decade. And I'm with you, IF he's better than the other guys, play him now. Because if he's as good as his rating suggests, he's only here 3 years anyways.

That being said, experience is a huge part of what makes you good and freshman are usually forced into action on an O line because of injury, lack of depth or lack of talent. ND doesn't have that problem. Mitch Hyatt had a great year last year at LT for Clemson. If they wouldn't have lost some guys, he wouldn't have played.

The math says he won't play. But if he does and it's not because of a string of injuries, it's a great thing because the guys he would be beating out are quality players and it means Tommy Kraemer is almost assuredly an All American, Top of the 1st round draft pick kinda guy.
