One of mine. The fact that Mayock was disliked when he commented for ND is proof to me that most people should just mute the game because they won't like anyone. Yes, he said "this is fun" when ND was in a tight game. He's an impartial commentator. Get over it.

Now we have Flutie, who is just terrible.

Best they have had on NBC. That's for sure.

I always wondered why Mayock got demoted. Who were these people complaining?

IMO, Mayock sucked, and there won't be an apology for feeling that way.

I enjoy listening to Mayock, I just hope Flutie gets canned quicker than fast.

Incredible line-up. I wish I was into coaching just so I could go and listen to these guys talk about their craft.

I only coached basketball and I've been several times. There's more non-coaches than you'd think.

I don't know if I can devote a day off work to go, but I might leave the office to go to a couple of select sessions.

As I've mentioned on here before the family is long time season ticket holders (60+ years). This year ND offered option for us to transfer the tickets to another person at no cost. Traditionally you have to pay 10 years current donation fee upfront for transfer. with Donation fee of $1k per ticket and 4 season tickets, that would $40k up front to transfer tickets. Now we still would have to pay that (and probably more as fees are sure to rise over years) keeping the tickets for 10 years and paying the indidividual yearly donation fees, but escaped the up front costs (who has $40k to give away for season tickets, at least not my family).

The other cool thing ND is offering is chance to move your tickets. We have always been in section 21 (southwest corner) with a tiny view of whats left of TD Jesus. With the jumbo tron set to be immediately behind us we felt moving was worth it. We didn't want to have the jumbotron blaring in our ears all game and what use is it if its behind you? We have moved caddy corner to section 3. I am pretty pumped, closer to band and student section. The home team also warms up on the north end and in my opinion the better TD's/plays I have seen over my time as a season ticket holder have been on the north endzone (not that we havent had some sweet action in the south).

Lastly, ND is offering us the option of buying our old bench seats now that they have put new, wider, seating in. Should help the family get over the nostalgia of the seats were leaving behind.

All useless babble to the rest of you but thought id share.

All of the things you are excited about are things that the more "conservative" fans are bitching about lol.

"Moving seats? You're gonna displace somebody that pays good money!" [lack of evidence to support claim]

"Good, if you want to melt your eyes looking at that ghastly big screen, go ahead and rot your brain, I don't care. Damn kids." [checks jumbotron incessantly and boos at every replay]

"They'll try to turn a profit on anything! What a bunch of tight asses! Selling history. Fools buying useless wooden benches. I don't care that Johnny's Ass was on there." [Has $600 worth of Knute Rockne posters in basement]

I have a very, very hard time believing Notre Dame suddenly decided to do these things out of the kindness of their hearts. Scared Swarbrick knows that attendance has been declining so he has to make sure that season ticket holders are happy and that the average fan has a $$$ reason to still go to games more than once in a lifetime.

Plain and simple, they're doing this to save their collective asses after investing a lot into a stadium/campus redesign.

lol yeah i was thinking that as we were discussing changing seats. Having endzone seats makes depth perception and viewing of opposite endzone very difficult. Having some replays would be great. having to turn around to see said replay doesnt sound so nice.

The benches have more meaning to me as a connection to my grandpa than they do as being a part of a historic stadium but still something pretty cool either way you look at it. They also aren't ungodly as far as $$. But i think you forgot that the person in your hypotheticals probably also has a chunk of the old grass in his basement before they added field turf!

The thing im most excited about overall is that the family got a break allowing us to keep these tickets for another generation + (as long as we can afford it). I, along with the family, would have been pretty bummed if we had to give up the tickets after this many years.

yeah i dont really care why they did it, and i certainly am not blind enough to think the current landscape of the football program had nothing to do with it. However, we don't plan to take out adds or put messages in the earth saying how dissatisfied we are. The tickets, and university bring the family together (one of very few things that still does) and thats what they are about most of all.

Yeah, they offered that to me and my buddy that opportunity too, we were season tix holders last year (section 16). They asked if we wanted to move and we jumped at the chance. Now we're in section 1 row 10 seats 31/32.

Just read where Jeff Jeffers from the local WNDU TV network passed away. I think he did the countdown to kickoff before ND home games.

What's the deal with this 'slap the sign' site everyone keeps talking about? What's the concept/how's it different than any other message board? Is this started by some IE'ers? Crusader?

Kevin Sinclair, the guy writing all the articles is out-hustling the other sites. He's got a future ahead of him if he keeps up the effort.

I have nothing to do with it other than chit chatting with Kev from time to time about potential targets. StS is part of the Fansided network which is a B/R knockoff. What makes StS different is Kevin works MUCH harder than ANY analyst in the ND network... and it's free.

I've said it for years, the paid recruiting site model is a dinosaur. Social media, Google and MB sites like IE are conspiring to kill them.

The above hit on it. but STS is one of Fansided's sites that is making a push into legitimacy, and our boy Vancouver is leading the charge with quality content. It's not a message board, just a team and recruiting news hub with opinion-based articles and content.

Sinclair is regularly beating the big-boys to the punch on things, most notably on player-interest pieces (like the twins' effort to enroll early). He'll interview guys and put out an article about what's going on that's interesting in their football lives, and the paid sites have a similar article a couple days later.

He won't get the traffic that the big dogs get, and he doesn't have a recruiting database to fall back on, but his writing, his content and the volume of material he's producing are similar (or better, in some regards) to what the VIP sites are producing... and it's for free, from a guy that seems to get pretty good access to recruits.
