Interesting GB...USC is your dream school, so if you had your choice you would go there over ND...My dream school has always been and will always be ND. I went to UCONN and enjoyed my time there, but ND is just the holy grail for me.

I could never root for USC football. Where all brothers here we ride together we die together.

TRUTH.

Get after it, GB. I wanted to quit law school approximately 156,765 times, but even I just graduated. Keep it up man.

Where does the rest of her live?

Just playing man. I was born in sunny San Diego and my mom thought it better I grow up in small town Indiana. Thankfully, like you, my grandpa had season tickets to ND sports since he had returned from the war. I visit Cali once a year and suggest that you go to San Diego State instead. City is more beautiful and will still provide you with the atmosphere you seek. LA is also a couple hours drive away if you want to visit. It also actually has a NFL team unlike the city of angels. Just a thought for someone who wants to work in the league.

Hope your grandma gets it together soon ;)

What about University of San Diego? Will probably be the only West Coast school I apply to (not quite able for Stanford, would never go to USC)

I was just recommending sdsu as it seemed GB was interested in schools that have importance on athletics. You really can't go wrong with being in San Diego.

SDSU kind of sucks. UCSD is awesome. UC Irvine is pretty good too as far as academics. Actually any of the UC's are good as far as academics depending on what you're looking for. None of them save UCLA have football programs though. Cal State Channel Islands is in by far the most scenic area of all the LA area public four year colleges (closer to Ventura and Oxnard). Pepperdine is really nice. The Claremont colleges (private) are good too. Man there's like a million colleges in the LA area.

I am extremely sarcastic. So I hear ya. Pepperdine I have a buddy who goes there and raves about it

UCLA and Pepperdine both have ridiculous campuses. UCLA's is absolutely gorgeous, and there are gorgeous women everywhere. Pepperdine in Malibu is literally across the PCH from the beach. Cali is the sh!t.

Cali is cool, but I'd rather live in NY or Chicago. It's more my scene, plus I like having 4 weather seasons.

GB,
I dont know how old you are and how much thought you've put into the whole process, or even where you're at for school now.
And i dont want to be preachy. But I just had a friend go through some massive s*** choosing between two ivy league schools, thinking one was her dream and then visiting and finding out she hated it and wanted the other one but her parents made her go... the real point of the story is please please for the love of god make sure you visit and spend a significant amount of time on campus before you try to go there! So much bad stuff happens if you dont!

Los Angeles is the arm pit of California.

Check out Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara or UC Santa Cruz.

LOL I was going to call Los Angeles the arm pit of the world, but I've been to Detroit.

San Francisco is one of the most awesome cities in the world btw Mr A.

2. My mom has always told me to be different. I just feel like I fit out there really well. I love the Midwest but I want to go to the beach and live that lifestyle. I think its more of the fact that I love LA. \.

As you know, I'm moving out from L.A. to South Bend. L.A. just isn't right for me and my family anymore, but that doesn't mean I'll hate on anyone for moving out here. For me, it's always been about personal happiness. When I was single, L.A. was perfect for me. Buut with a family, and with a great opportunity to have my daughter grow up in a much slower-paced, family atmosphere, it was a no-brainer.

It's crazy - when I told people out here that I was moving from CA, I thought they'd say I was nuts for leaving here. But almost to a person they totally agreed with my decision. In fact, many people expressed interest in doing the exact same thing, but they have family roots holding them down. The problems with L.A. include the traffic, too many damn people, too damn expensive, the smog, Hollywood (the Brittany Spears effect it has on girls), the insanely rude/indifferent people, etc.

But L.A. also has so many good things about it - the weather, the beach, the mountains, so many things to do, all different kinds of people, the women, etc. So it really comes down to personal preference. If that's your dream, let nothing stop you. There's a lot to love out here, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Now, I'm with LAX on this thing though: USC is NOT a pretty campus, and it's in a sh!tty, crime-ridden area. I work across the street from USC, so I should know. The buildings all pretty much suck, except for the film building (which was donated b/c of a bet between George Lucas and Steven Speilberg, ehich Speilberg lost. Speilberg used his own architect instead of the ones who built the rest of USC's drab buildings). But the women are friggin' unreal. I don't blame 18 year-old kids for falling in love with the women, the lifestyle, the parties, the winning football tradition, the celebrities, etc. It's hard to turn down if you're not looking for a top-flight education (they don't educate their players nearly the same as ND, Stanford etc).

Still, F U$C...

OMG I visited their campus...hands down the most beautiful campus I've ever seen. How can you beat a mountain top view of the ocean in Malibu!?

My close buddy from high school played baseball for Pepperdine in the 4 years following their 1992 NCAA championship. So we used to go down there when we were in college and take batting practice in the off-season and shag fly balls and sh!t. It was awesome. Nothing beats hitting BP, with the centerfield fence overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Pepperdine is beautiful, no doubt, but ND is still the most beautiful campus I've ever seen...

Never been to Fresno, Visalia or Bakersfield I take it? Come on LA is pretty cool. You can surf in the morning, be skiing by noon, great art scene, great architecture scene, great music scene, hot women everywhere, the weather in LA (not the valley's or inland empire) is nice even when it's "bad", there's all kinds of cultural diversity and the sunsets are insane because of the ozone. Haha. Anyhow, I remember a clear day standing on the beach after getting some good waves and looking at the snow caps on the San Gabriel mountains. One of the coolest things I've ever seen/experienced. The one downer was the traffic. It is terrible. It's like anywhere else you gotta know where to go to find the good stuff.

That being said, GB doesn't owe us an answer to anything. This could have easily been answered in a pm. I feel like this thread is an attempt to put him on blast which is undeserved. Don't get it...

Feel free ask away. Terry Tate has his own thread I feel like I should too!

There was no offense offered and there was none obviously taken.

I always found it strange that a guy with a profile sporting a Trojan logo would spend so many hours supporting the team that so many of us profess to love but frequently trash. He's a better fan in many aspects. Thanks for all you do, GB
