I had an ND classmate hit rock-bottom, a few years after our graduation. It absolutely floored me, when he told me everything that had been going on. We partied, hard, during school, but I never suspected that he had a "problem."
He is a high-performing addict; the type that can perfectly blend in with the "regular" business world. No one would have ever known. When we did a mini-reunion with a group of our friends, he finally came out to the others.
Going to rehab was incredibly humbling, but it saved his life. He went from corporate boardrooms, to boarding with convicted criminals. He said that it taught him that no matter where we come from, we can all fall prey to the same demons.
He knows he's an addict, and that he'll always have to deal with it. He also knows that his friends have his back, and we'll be there. Hope you have the same support, brother.
