Well, that explains why I was centerfielder and part-time 2nd baseman.
My being the shortest explained why I was the lead-off batter. I was walked 85% of the time. The other 15% of my at-bats I actually swung. On rare occasions, I got a hit and wound up on base.
There was one game, where, for some inexplicable reason, I was playing 3rd base. There was a play where some kid 3 times my size was barrelling towards me. I caught the throw that came to me and was prepared to tag him as he slid.
But – he decided to run me over in the hope of jarring the ball from my glove.
I just about ended up in the dugout, but I held on to the ball and he was out!
I think that that was my second or third concussion. there were others to follow. My memory fails me.
I suppose that it explains a bit about me.
