According to my apartment complex, there's a shortage of plumbing supplies across the entire state. This is unsurprising considering I heart a ton of office buildings had pipes burst, and every single building in just my complex had multiple burst pipes. I got lucky and didn't have one; then again it's been 8 days and I still have no running water. If it weren't for friends who let me come over to fill some jugs of drinking water, shower, and run some laundry on Sunday, I'd be in a pretty bad position. At least grocery stores have bottled water now.

Hang in there. There's light at the end of the tunnel.

We got almost two feet of snow. Can’t remember the last time Arkansas got that kind of snowfall. I’m just thankful we didn’t get ice b/c that ultimately leads to power loss. Unfortunately, some idiots (I assume idiots since it was hit and run) hit a fire hydrant and we’ve been on a ‘boil order’ through at least Friday. Inconvenient but still first world problems.

Late April and I was out clearing off my car last night. Super crazy. Going to be sad when my tulips probably die because of this.

Strange weather back in my old stomping grounds in Alabama. New Year's Day saw record highs in the upper 70's and low 80's followed by a few tornados. The next day it's snow and freezing temps. Friends and family are posting pics from Saturday of playing golf and going boating, then getting an inch or two of snow less than 24 hrs later.

Same here. I work part time for the town we live in and I helped put the snow plow on in shorts lol.

Highs in the mid teens today and tomorrow. Windy in addition to the cold.

Every ache in my knees for the last 15 years comes back in weather like this.

Its 72 here and my knees are killing me. But when the temp drops they are joined by various other joints.

So don't get old.

It gets your attention for about 5 minutes... then your brain freezes and you don't care anymore! I hear you all about joint pain.

I can't handle the cold very well anymore and I'm even more useless in heat and humidity. I don't know how some of you coastal and southern people manage?

Cheers and Go Irish

If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself. When I was in my 20's and playing full contact/no pads football with my friends every weekend, skiing, being a typical 20-something, my dad would tell me to stop beating my body up. I'd tell him, "Dad, I'm 25. I can cut a leg off and it grows back in 3 days." He would try to get me to understand that the problem was that when I reached middle age, all those injuries and abuse to my body would come back to haunt me. He was right. I hurt everywhere.

16 degrees in Dayton, Ohio area right now, with wind chill it feels like 0. Just took the garbage out, holy fuck. Still had my shorts on of course, but it was my hands that felt numb when I was done. Doesn't help that the kids have been tossing the garbage bags into the garage instead of directly into the can because they're lazy.

16 degrees is a cold but not bad day. When I'm home I go on hour long walks every day. My rule is if the windchill is ~0 I won't go out. Air temp similarly i draw the line at about 5 because it's always at least a little breezy here.

Make the kids take the damn trash out. It builds character.

They'll do it if I'm the one that's asking, but if someone else asks...yeah.

Well it’s our turn to be cold here on the eastern shore. With the wind chill tomorrow it’ll be between 5-10 degrees.

Yeah, I'm also glad to see that sub-0 arctic blast stuff move on East to torment someone else.

I see a Facebook meteorologist is call for a once in a life snow storm for us in about a week or week and half. Calling for possible 36 inches. I will be surprised if it comes true. I have seen 36 twice in my life but they were 2 different storms not all from one so it should be interesting.

Generally, I prefer the cold to the wind. Gusting up past 60mph right now. This is pretty common for southwest Alberta. At least you can dress for the cold, the wind is an entirely different beast!

The east does get some pretty heavy, freak storms. Not fun for fighting fires and so many people turn to space heaters to exacerbate the problems. A friend is the Deputy Chief on a city FD. The stories he tells are scary. This latest cold weather sure created some unique challenges. Be careful out there!!

Cheers and Go Irish!!
