I can't see them canceling practice cause classes are starting... Im sure they have known about classes starting for a long time now.

Nice sign to the parents of future recruits. BK gives a day off to focus on first day of classes :). Practice tomorrow would be counterproductive anyway with the qb drama going on. Get back to work with the starter on Wednesday!

If that is truly the case, couldn't agree more.

Despite profound ignorance, I will only say that such a cancelled workout move usually means that the Staff thinks that they can afford to do that [whatever the reason is]. AND if the staff thinks that way, the team must be in pretty good form already. I take it, barring other news, as another good sign of where Coach thinks we've gotten to.

I agree with the rationale that having a practice immediately following the announcement of our team's starting QB would be counterproductive, particularly if both players still believe there is a legitimate chance that he could be the starter. If there is Camp Dayne and Camp Tommy, there could be some sore feelings that stretch deeper than our two signal callers.

I would agree with the "focus on classes" argument, but see Coach Kelly as someone that appreciates continuity and would want the team to dive right in to the routine of balancing practice and schoolwork.

With Dayne having been the starter last year and my belief that a starter shouldn't lose their job to injury, could it mean that an epic change is forthcoming???.........I'm hoping Dayne is our starter, I'm in his camp and think he showed the same intangibles that Tommy did last year, and has more physical gifts. But I guess whatever brings this team together and helps them win is what I ultimately vote for.

Crist...

1) bigger, faster, stronger.
2) Based on what I've read about his mastery of the offense, and decision making as compared to last year...he seems to have addressed some things.
3) Kelly can use him like he wants to use him, offering more flexibility in the offense without fear of serious drop-off to the number 2, with Tommy now ready to take over if Crist gets hurt. That said see number 1.
4) Leadership...I don't doubt Tommy, but I think Crist is still the man
5) Arm strength. We still have Floyd, who, I believe, can outrun Tommy's arm...based on the Rudy Rainbow throw/catch at Michigan last year...not thiking Floyd can outrun Crist's arm. Having Crist/Floyd combo stretches things out more for a defensive coordinator.
6) He was the man before he got hurt...if it is really that close, you gotta give Crist the nod.

That said...if we see some of the drive killing mistakes out of Crist we saw last year, he may not keep his job past Game 2.

I really think this is the determining factor.

Where are we going to announce/discuss BK's QB decision? Should we start a 'QB Decision' thread for that, or does it belong in this thread? Seems like it would be worthy of its own and I was going to start one for it, but I didn't want to step on anyone's toes. I know some people take that stuff very seriously.

What do you guys think?

Loved the video. I chuckled when Newman was talking about getting his picture taken with Kelly.

“@ISDUpdate: Kelly says they expect CB Gary Gray to play like one of the best corners in the country”

“@BGI_JasonSapp: #NotreDame HC Brian Kelly: CB Gary Gray got gold ball for practice today - disrputing the most passes ... and defending WR Michael Floyd”

This team is so impressive on paper as an extension of last season, plus the added ingredients that we have, that if we're not playing very high quality football in every phase of football, every game, and winning the vast majority of them, it will be the biggest surprise to me since I've been watching this sport.

To show my utter optimism as to our veterans, I can imagine any of ten players making all-star teams this season, and others respected highly country wide. Gary Gray is one of those ten [and why the note above inspired this gush]. Just to be controversial, I'll praise the rest of my "ten": Floyd and Te'o, of course; Harrison; KLM; Martin and Cave on the O-Line; Ruffer; Eifert; and Fleming. I believe that every one of those players is not only elite, but when looked at closely have already proved it.

And there are several others I can think of who might well join them.

Jason Sapp BGI tweets:

Notre Dame DL Kapron Lewis-Moore: USF QB B.J. Daniels is a great player and we have to contain him ... already feels the buzz around campus.

Notre Dame OL coach Ed Warinner: Andrew Nuss has handled the decision being made of not starting well and has displayed continued leadership understands his role on the offense and is key to having a rotation along the offensive front with his versatily to play any spot on OL.

Notre Dame OC Charley Molnar: QB Dayne Crist "never had a bad day" this fall camp. Bad drills, but bounced right back. . couldn't say that about Crist a year ago.

Notre Dame ST coach Mike Elston: Kyle Brindza has a good blend of hang time and consistency.

Notre Dame DL coach Mike Elston: NG Sean Cwynar was question mark after missing spring, but has been outstanding this fall camp. True pro.

Notre Dame DL coach Mike Elston: Plans on playing about 6-7 defensive linemen against South Florida. Plan is to keep the guys fresh.

Notre Dame DL coach Mike Elston: "Louis Nix is going to have a very good year." Still has a good motor, loves the game and excited to play.

Notre Dame DC Bob Diaco - re: Recruiting. "Not chasing talent for talent's sake." About finding alignment between prospect and program.

Notre Dame DC Bob Diaco - CB Lo Wood has brought his game a long way ... has really become a functional player. Older and more focused. coaches believe L. Wood could go into a game and function ... Bennett Jackson still "needs some more time in the cooker."

Notre Dame DC Bob Diaco - Players have had good camp and each player in LB unit has moved his game forward.

Just got a call from Notre Dame CB commit Ronald Darby inquiring about new Irish DT verbal Jarron Jones - he's excited Quick comments from Irish commits on addition of Jarron Jones

Coach Kelly retweeted a picture taken by the equipment manager of a semi trailer with the caption "Special delivery on its way..." Should we expect something unusual or unexpected with uniforms for this game?

Well we were told there would be things not even Oregon has done...

I can't remember everything that was said. I'm tired.

Green polka dot jock straps with Ty Willy's pic in the middle of each dot along with with pictures of golf tees around the groin area. Everyone loves a little fun...
