Thanks - need electric - gas too loud and not interested in maintaining a gas engine, can't think of any gas carts in our neighborhood and they are buzzing by all the time.
How much do you think the dealers negotiate? Any thoughts on age of cart/model years to avoid? I would like to avoid one that was owned by a golf course if possible.
I'm a little out of touch with the good or bad. Club Car and Yamaha are solid, or at least they were. E-Z Go is fine too I think. There are carts built just for neighborhoods, even road worthy if you want.
Carts are pretty simple, heck you could change the whole body for $400 a few years ago. I wouldn't worry too much about golf course carts. You can tell if they are abused. It's all about the batteries. I wouldn't touch batteries more than two years old. If they are used, open them up, check the water level, see if they are full and consistent. Look for white acid stains around the batteries and the frame. Usually not a good sign. I like new, then I know how they are maintained. You can see other damage pretty easily.
My Club Car was 10 years old and looked brand new when I bought it. Negotiating probably depends on the dealer but I would ask.
If you find something you like, post some pics and we'll check it out. I've got a buddy here in town that does a good job and seems fair, just too far away.
