I'm a big fan of Chantel, but she is a Michigan gal FYI.
ah you still would

Not to bring race into this -- but did they fire any African-Americans other than Doug Glanville?

ND needs to hire this chick in some media capacity
She is a Michigan grad and homer.
Early ratings are decent for 'SC6' with Jemele Hill and Michael Smith
From two months ago... 2 weeks after it premiered. Seems to be doing ok. Not bad, not great.
Let me also add that I think some guys like Michael Smith and Bomani Jones that are hated on are very good. Very, very good. I think there's a lot of misplaced anger at them sometimes for being "different"... not in appearance, per se, but in how they talk and approach things. I've always thought Bomani Jones does amazing radio and is fantastic on Around the Horn... but a lot of people don't like him.
Michael Smith has carried Jemele Hill for a long time, and he simply can't do it for a huge production like SC6. It's not a podcast, and it's not His & Hers (which was a good program). Jemele Hill has always been a poor TV personality. She has talent as a writer, but even then has some troll-ish tendencies that have caused her problems.
Stephen A. Smith is everything people hate about "hot takes" bundled up in one person.
It's very reasonable for people to express anger towards people like Hill and Smith when they see very talented people like Stark, Werder, and Katz shown the door.

And in other espn news from yesterday:

(Editor's note: An earlier version of "Five Poets on the New Feminism" featured Revolution by Dr. DaMaris Hill. We have decided it is not an appropriate selection for our site, and have removed it from the feature.)

Waiting for Tim Kirkjian to be let go. Probably my favorite analyst info guy ever.

Great read above that summarizes a lot of the things discussed in this thread already.
ESPN is probably looking for a way to fire Beano Cook while they're at it.

Beano was fired in '87, but nobody told him, and he just keeps showing up.
You would think that he would notice the lack of paychecks, but I suppose he may have a government pension from his WW2 service. God bless him.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I sat down to watch anything on ESPN that wasn't live sports or Gameday. Even Gameday is getting harder to watch with less X's and O's and more of Desmond Howard's verbal diarrhea.
The problem with gameday is that they've begun to think too highly of themselves. Rather than talking about the actual football, the national landscape, and putting some focus on wherever they are that week, Gameday has just become three hours of them patting themselves on the back, laughing at their own inside jokes, and generally acting like bros. The most emphasis they place on "where" they are is the local food that gets made and handed to them on set. They don't actually care about the home stadium or crowd anymore.
The actual CFB content has suffered because Gameday has simply become a platform for the hosts and their personalities, rather than actually focusing on the day of games (you know.... Game Day).
Shit, the best, most insightful parts that still focus on the actual football are the bits where they go to Chris Falica for his picks against the spread, because he gives ACTUAL analysis and on-field reasoning for the picks he makes. He gives the best X's-and-O's on College Gameday, and he's on screen for a total of 3 minutes maybe.
The other part that provides the most analysis is Whitfield walking through the crowd while discussing QB's, but they've ruined even that unique perspective.
don't watch gameday anymore, would rather watch EPL and then switch over when games start at noon
