That snippet pretty effectively sums up the independent and conservative mind's issues with much of our current mass media, arts and entertainment and so on... and why when so many left leaning minds opine that a liberal bias isn't really a thing, or worth discussing, it's a complete non starter for many.

Sage Steele should have been fired after her insensitive IG post about the Muslim ban.

She's also not good at her job.

So basically you'd like anyone fired who has any opinion you don't like.

Just so everyone is on the same page, here's the "insensitive" post TP is referring to:
<blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-version="7" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:50.0% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAABGdBTUEAALGPC/xhBQAAAAFzUkdCAK7OHOkAAAAMUExURczMzPf399fX1+bm5mzY9AMAAADiSURBVDjLvZXbEsMgCES5/P8/t9FuRVCRmU73JWlzosgSIIZURCjo/ad+EQJJB4Hv8BFt+IDpQoCx1wjOSBFhh2XssxEIYn3ulI/6MNReE07UIWJEv8UEOWDS88LY97kqyTliJKKtuYBbruAyVh5wOHiXmpi5we58Ek028czwyuQdLKPG1Bkb4NnM+VeAnfHqn1k4+GPT6uGQcvu2h2OVuIf/gWUFyy8OWEpdyZSa3aVCqpVoVvzZZ2VTnn2wU8qzVjDDetO90GSy9mVLqtgYSy231MxrY6I2gGqjrTY0L8fxCxfCBbhWrsYYAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div> <p style=" margin:8px 0 0 0; padding:0 4px;"> <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/BP4TLbAFYiG/" style=" color:#000; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none; word-wrap:break-word;" target="_blank">So THIS is why thousands of us dragged luggage nearly 2 miles to get to LAX, but still missed our flights. I actually understand why so many POC don't like Sage Steele.

But that, and the fact that she's bad at her job, shouldn't mean that she doesn't get the same political protection that her colleagues on the opposite side get.

And yet, conservative beliefs have no space.

This was a great read, especially this passage:

I agree...

I just assume if it has a mic in its hands...its the self-righteous, mentally unstable breed of liberal...

If they prove me right, and its a sporting event...I Mute or move on.

Some people can ask intelligent questions, or use the vehicle to ask societal questions thoughtfully...but most are the cracker-jack box liberal...overhyped, fake, plastic, easily broken.

This is funny coming from you when you just neg repped me for having an opinion you didn't like.

Hopefully Steele ends up at Fox News where she belongs.

Because him giving you a neg rep on a message board is the same as him firing you from your job.

So every single person who isn't a full on liberal lemming should go to Fox?? What has Steele said that is so obscene and unforgivable?

Firing and neg reps are equivalent? What position did Steele take that makes her qualify for fox news?

lol what? Meaningless internet reps are specifically designed to be given for posts you like or dislike. That's literally the entire point of them... one uses them communicate their opinion of a post. So I'm sorry for using a feature of this side precisely as designed?

If you think there is any parallel between an internet rep and believing someone should lose their job for having an opinion you don't share then you need some serious perspective.

And in general, if you feel Sage Steele should've been fired for posting that she supported protesting but wished it didn't have negative effects on the elderly, families, and immigrants then you are hypocrite of the highest order preaching about "insensitivity."

exactly...

It is starting to look like her crime is talking while black/female but not a flaming liberal.

ESPN isn't dumb...and they are already losing viewership...and have no reason to be political tied to the sports mission...so I figure it must be lucrative to cater to this crowd...shrug.

She's someone who only supports a protest if she agrees with it or if it doesn't affect her. The whole point of an effective protest is to cause disruption and make people take notice. Her flight was delayed so she went to IG to complain about it which showed a total lack of empathy for families that were being ripped apart.

Well I hear O-reilly ran out of asses to grab...so I assume Fox would be down.

She'll end up somewhere and they'll use it to gash ESPN...because even if they are losing, they are still the big boy.

Me, on the O'Reilly Factor during the 2012 Republican primaries. I was convinced Hermain Cain was going to win. 9-9-9 means Jobs-Jobs-Jobs. O'Reilly sent me a signed copy of "Pinheads and Patriots." He sent me a paperback, the cheap bastard.

The whole point of a protest is to either 1) bring attention to an issue or 2) enact change. Or both. You can "make people take notice" without negatively impacting people who shouldn't be negatively impacted... see: the Women's March and it's positive coverage versus the Baltimore riots.

Her flight was delayed so she went to IG to complain about it which showed a total lack of empathy for families that were being ripped apart.

Bullshit. I'll quote it for you again, but I'm sure you won't read it again: Fortunately, a 7 hour wait for the next flight to Houston won't affect me that much, but my heart sank for the elderly and parents with small children who did their best to walk all that way but had no chance of making their flights. I love witnessing people exercise their right to protest! But it saddened me to see the joy on their faces knowing that they were successful in disrupting so many people's travel plans. Yes, immigrants were affected by this as well. Brilliant.

Her post communicates a message that is precisely the opposite of what you're suggesting it aims to do. It's showing empathy for those affected by the protest, while pointing out the stupidity of a protest that has zero tangible positive effects while many tangible negative effects and some of those negative effects directly impact those it's ostensibly supposed to help. At the end of the day, "causing disruption" helped no one and hurt a lot of people. The lawsuits and challenges to Trump's travel ban would still have been filed and had the same result with or without a bunch of people jamming up the LAX. Some people are just too stupid to realize that. Supporting an issue and effective protests bringing attention to that issue and thinking people shouldn't take joy in fucking up other people's lives are not mutually exclusive concepts.

Is it confirmed Steele was sent packing from NBA broadcasts because of her politics? Most NBA fans hated her.

Best thing I've seen on /r/nba regarding her hosting:

The second anyone starts to have a tiny bit of fun
"HEY HEY LETS GET BACK ON TRACK GUYS COME ON"

That's why I liked her. She tried to keep them talking about the games and not all the stupid tangents they would get on.

It's so hard to watch these pre/post game shows anymore. I'm old school so I actually expect them to talk about the intricacies of the sport and not what hideous shoes someone was wearing...

But if you want that kind of analysis ESPN needs to put on different people and create an entirely different show. Maybe Steele would've been a good host for Zach Lowe and Kobe Bryant to discuss the benefits of the 2 3 zone, but that's not what ESPN is trying to do. They're trying to be entertainment with extremely light strategy/play discussions. I mean Jalen Rose isn't ever going to say anything intelligent, so Steele constantly attempting to steer the conversation that way was jarring.

TNT gets it perfect largely because Ernie is a master at herding cats. He lets Shaq, Chuck and Kenny go on their tangents and make fun of each other, but he also is able to get them to talk about the intricacies of the game and what's going on behind the scenes.

Btw I was quite convinced this was finally going to be the year Lebron didn't make the finals. Then last night happened

Yeah, I know...

It's just another reason that I basically watch ESPN for live sports. I watch their NBA show some but I always end up disappointed.

TNT does get it right. They balance the fluff with the NBA insight just right.

This is not the type of fan ESPN wants though. They don't want the die hard fan at all, the one that wants a through breakdown of the game and actually talking sports. They want the fringe fan that has a short attention span and is more enamoured with what is trending on Twitter.

I am the old school fan too. The only thing ESPN has right is its baseball coverage. I find the guys at Baseball Tonight to be very knowledgeable and through in their analysis. ESPN is terrible with college football, NBA and college basketball.

Yep, that is why they have basically lost me as a viewer. And I know they don't really care about my viewing habits because I pay for their channels through my cable package. Unfortunately I am still a paying customer even though I hardly turn on their channel.

Playing the amount of minutes he plays he'd probably die.

HEY HEY GUYS, LET'S GET BACK ON TRACK HERE.

Lebron's absurd amount of minutes is irrelevant news on ESPN.

Let's talk about the real stuff, like what he thinks about the economic situation in Nicaragua.
