Just in case, I hope Ishaq shows up at his front door first thing in the morning.
Good stuff. Reps.

Bobby D is about to get a raise....at ND. He will get a head coaching job in a few years but i dont think he takes a job at Boston College or Cal.
I don't think Diaco is going anywhere just yet, but great HC's plan for this kind of stuff.
Anyone have any insight on what the timetable is on BC's decision? I saw in the article where Diaco is supposed to interview in the next couple of days, but nothing on when a decision is expected.
Well maybe if we give him a generous raise and the title of "HC in waiting" that will be enough? BK will stick around for a while so I'm sure a few years down the road Diaco would leave for a big time gig ala Muschamp.Just so everyone is aware... it's not as easy as saying "just pay the guy"... BC paid Spaziani $1.1 mil a year and you can imagine they're going to pay their new HC somewhere north of that. The highest paid assistant in CFB is Clemson's OC who makes $1.5 mil a year.
Can Notre Dame go that high? I don't know. We're still paying Charlie a RIDICULOUS amount of money and are going to have to give Kelly a big raise.... the "promotion" of Diaco to Associate Head Coach last year signaled to me that he had aspirations... but also that he'd be around a couple more years. This is kinda the perfect storm and I'm really interested to see what happens because I'd bet it's 50/50 right now what happens with him.
He's supposed to interview today, right?

According to these sources it looks they will make a decision in the next 7-10 days.

Yeah, according to this, he is supposed to interview today:
Report: Bob Diaco to interview at Boston College | Inside the Irish
Hopefully we'll hear something later.
Couple interesting things in that article, incidentally, although I'm not sure I totally agree with Keith's analysis. He seems to think that Diaco has no interest in coaching in the SEC. "Antithesis" of the SEC, he called Diaco. He also seems to think that the BC job is really attractive to Diaco and a great fit for him, with his northeast roots. I got the impression that he thinks this would be a great job for Diaco at this point, not one that's beneath him and that he'd be settling for. A little unnerving.
Exactly my take on this. I think he stays, but you take the interview so that you get used to the interview situation. You see how the schools see you and what they offer you and how they treat you. Then you go back and you make sure you learn from the great and experienced guys he has around him here at ND to fill in perceived gaps.
Right. When in the mix for a good job, in football or real life, always interview for it. There's no downside, really. And even if you don't want it, it can be a useful experience.
As for our response, I don't know about the "head coach in waiting" scenario. It's not like Kelly is Bobby Bowden or even Mack Brown. He's not going anywhere any time soon. That can get awkward. I'd make the case to Diaco that he still has things to learn about running the broader program, and that better jobs than BC will come down the pike.

Couple of things:
1. He's the D-Coord for the best D in the BCS, so of course he gets HC offers, he's earned them. Being that we play them every year, great move by BC, addition by addition and addition by subtraction.
2. If ND wins the BCS, go for it Bob, you've earned it. IF they don't win, I'd like him to stick around (I'd like him to either way, but would be more okay with him leaving with a title)
2b. My biggest concern is that this could become a distraction during the most important weeks, leading to the most important game in recent ND history.
3. I'm not saying this is the case, but I'd hate to see what happened to Steve Spagnuolo happen to Diaco. Spags was a fulltime DC for one year (when the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2007-2008. The hottest HQ candidate that offseason took the HC job with the Rams (I think, in hind-sight, before he was ready). HC in St Louis for 3 years with a terrrrrible record of 10-38. Came in 4th in an awful NFC West twice and 2nd the year that the Seahawks became the first team with a record under .500 to get in the playoffs (thats how bad the NFC West was). I digress, but I just think Spags wasn't ready. I'm not saying that Bob D isn't ready, I don't know, but I'd hate to see him take the easy money and flame out rather than stick around and become a legend.
Analysis:
ND should do whatever they can to keep him in the fold for at least another year as soon as possible to prevent any issues prior to Jan 7th.
We have been focusing on this whole thing from The POV of Bob, but what about BC? Brad Bates is the New AD there and needs this to be a home run hire. Approx 90% of BC's athletic revenue comes from football, so the hire needs to energize the fan base. Bates needs to decide if he wants to hire an offensive guy or a defensive guy.
All of the last few coaches from BC have been offensive guys (Coughlin, O'Brien & Jags) except for Spaz. Spaz was clearly the least productive head coach and the recent glory days of BC were Matty Ice and the nice offense Jags put up. Fast forward to today, and it seems like a HC on offense seems like the best fit. The bigger name on BC's board figures to be Pete Carmichael Jr. Pete is a BC alumn, is the OC of the Saints and grew up in Mass. To me, this is the name Bates should be targeting given that he needs asses in the seats and all signs point to Pete being able to do that better than Bobby D at this point.

Dream:
After winning their third National Championship in a row in Jan of 2015, Diaco leaves for the HC job in Iowa, his alma-mater.
Then I get to watch a team of dapper mfs beat up on UM, MSU, OSU, PSU year after year and we'll never have to play them.
