I was just getting on here to post this. I wish people would put more emphasis on this especially the NCAA. I was watching that little special on ESPN yesterday about Alabama and I just can't help but notice how uneducated their players sound. It really is sad that these kids often times go to school for the wrong reasons. This makes me proud to be a fan of the University of Notre Dame

I really do respect Notre Dame for keeping its academic standards high, even if it does potentially cost them recruits. Of course, it's small consolation to the fans who have to settle sports bar arguments with lines like, "Hey, our players are too smart to win BCS championships!"

Yet Cowherd and Patrick seem to both be on a "Tell ND fans why it's over and why it will never be again" trip all while pumping the Bama's and SC's of the world...

so sick of having nothing else to thump other than our Grad rate stuff and the lack thereof of the Bama's of the world... wins would be nice at some point.

I am glad that, despite what the record may be from year to year, I know the university prepares these young men for life after football. Too many athletes expect to go to the NFL, some do, some don't. Many are out after only a few short years, or they spend their money and wind up broke with no future. I cringe when I see some of these college athletes in interviews sometimes, Nick Fairley comes to mind:

The Nick Fairley Interview w/ Josina Anderson - YouTube

Thats one of his better interviews in my opinion.

Great post. Notre Dame is walking the college walk. I'd like to see Dame openly threaten to start removing laggards off their schedule if the others don't start improving. It would seriously p.o. a lot of people, but they need to be called out.
