I think I vaguely recall that matchup... did that one include a successful onside kick recovery??? It may have been Dre that I got with the 1-in-1000 onside kick recovery in a comeback.

@bkess8 is the guy that had my number. I think I beat him once or twice, then he ran off three or four in a row against me. Couldn't stop his option attack!

Yup...that would be it. Two quick scores and the 2 point conversion to win it lol.

I never play it, so I don't know if I'm a great source, but it's basically card collecting in a video game. You get get card packs with various players or other assets inside to build a roster. Don't have the player you're looking for? Spend money to get more packs. That's kind of the gist.

You buy packs of players that will also occasionally include uniform options I think.

The addictive component is that you actually play online with your team, so you are constantly chasing that next legend to fill out your roster.

I didn’t really get involved in it even though NCAA14 had it.

I’m imagining myself building a badass team that I beat people with online despite not spending any money… then when I realize my downfield passing is holding me back, I’ll drop $100 on team packs to try and get an ‘06 Brady Quinn card

Ultimate Team is fine in doses. If it’s like FIFA and they have legend packs where I can get a Will Fuller, Golden Tate, or Michael Floyd on my team, I will absolutely be playing. If it’s current players I have much less interest

It's like unlocking old players from the past through loot boxes.

So instead of playing as the 2024 ND roster vs someone using the Akron 2024 roster, you're both using your rosters made up of whatever are the best cards you have.

Everyone hates it because the lootbox/gambling nature of it has attracted children with credit cards and whales. It has been such a money maker for EA that now they treat Ultimate Team as the defacto "main" mode and have done very little to upgrade or improve franchise mode over the years. They've basically turned Madden into a mobile game where there is a lot of numbers-based incentives to pay to have fun with your $60 video game that was already questionably priced because it's typically a glorified roster update.

Well said. And as such, the game is programmed in such a way, that it is catered towards online UT games. The AI does some ridiculous things to keep games competitive, and just doesn't play well in franchise mode due to this. Hard to exactly explain it, but when you play Madden (and FIFA... errr EAFC has become as well last few years too) you can feel/see what it is.

They need to bring back either what they did with NCAA 2006 with all of the fight songs in the menu screens or NCAA 05 with the killer soundtrack. The phony fight song that played on repeat in NCAA 14 was miserable to sit through
