Unless Urban's health concerns are totally blown out of proportion, I can't see him returning to the grind of college coaching. The NFL is a drastically different situation as far as stress levels and demands on your time.

You can sit on the beach and analyze film from February to July. If a player is a problem, you trade him or cut him. You don't recruit. You don't meet with boosters.

From what I’ve read, he takes every loss so hard that the NFL would crush him even more than CFB. Guess it’s the way he’s wired. All his personal stuff aside b/c I don’t know the details but I enjoy listening to him on Fox studio show. You can tell he’s passionate about coaching and obviously he knows his stuff.

I enjoy watching him on Fox as well. He gets a lot of crap on here (and elsewhere) for his “baggage,” which is essentially just the Zach Smith situation. The Florida arrests issue is just a Florida/SEC issue, IMO. The same thing happens at LSU, Bama, UGA, etc. I’m not defending that, as he should’ve fired Smith sooner and not fallen victim to blind loyalty, but at least Meyer has never had wins vacated, a student photographer be killed under his watch, or kept a player on the team who was credibly accused of sexual assault that contributed to a young woman committing suicide. I know it’s probably a pipe dream that he comes here, but I think some of our fans (and our administration) need to look in their own backyard (Kelly).

It’s reported he’s their top target. Urban taking it or even interested is unknown.

Sounds like it's gonna happen and they fired Marrone because they knew they could get Urban. Interested to see how this goes.

Does anyone think Urbans health will allow him to coach at an NFL level? it seems to me that NFL coach hours and preparation are ridiculously demanding.

Do we know how the relationship ended up between Vrabel and Urb? I'm sure Vrabel can fill him in on what to expect.

it's a piece of cake compared to CFB coach hours required

Steve Spurrier said the opposite. He hated the hours he had to spend while at Washington and couldn't wait to get back to college. he said coaching in the NFL really bit into his time on the golf course.

Why are people concerned with his health?

We all know that's a fake excuse, right?

There were rumors of an altercation between the two prior to a Big Ten Championship Game vs Michigan State when Vrabel was on the staff.

If they are true, I doubt he reaches out. If they are not, I still doubt he reaches out.

There is no way Meyer is wired for the NFL. I think it would not end well. He should have gone to Texas.

If going to the NFL keeps him out of USC, fine.

Adam Gase has to be one of the worst NFL coaches ever. His offenses at Miami and NYJ were atrocious. Is this serious?

Bama already tired of averaging 50 ppg?

Urban would be crazy to go NFL, especially to a disaster like Jacksonville. He would be crazy to get back into coaching period if his health concerns are legit.

He still has a cake job at Ohio St, cake part time job at Fox, plenty of money, plenty of time for golf.

It's hard to stay on the sidelines (or off the sidelines in this particular case) when people are offering you millions of dollars to do something you're preternaturally good at.

If someone would give me millions to do the things I’m preternaturally good at, I’d have a lot of money from watching football.

Adam Gase may have gotten more out of Jay Cutler than anyone ever did. Apart from that, I agree. He's not HC material, that much is for sure.

That's what Belichick makes and it is more than what Carroll makes.

This would be insanity.

Well, if you're Shad Khan, throwing money at your alma mater (Illinois) is a lost cause. So why not spend it all on your NFL team...

Also, Bill Parcels said that coaching football is like a narcotic.

Per that twitter conversation, the plane in question is a little turbo-prop training plane. And it's licensed to a pilot training company. So it's almost definitely not a millionaire flying in it.

Internet sleuthing is incredible these days.

If you had one of those things and just wanted to fly for the hell of it, trolling CFB fans would be a lot of fun.

I dont think it will be a problem until he decides he doesnt want to coach there anymore.
