I know the Bears and Browns have both had difficulties to varying degrees for the last couple decades but neither are even close to the discussion of worst franchises in sports history....

Just can't let that one slide despite my want to....

I guess Ryan Pace thinks this guy is going to be great, and he has the authority to do what he did. It's his ass, though, and he knows it. I guess he's saying "here we go." He could be wrong, and if he's wrong, he'll get fired.

They need help everywhere and they have no weapons for whoever their QB will be. I think Eddie Royal was released, wasn't he? Wheaton seems pretty good, but the rest of that receiving/tight end corp is a pile of goo.

They really should have thought about trading down and getting more picks, but they must really like this guy and Pace is hedging all his bets on him. I guess when Glennon has his first bad game, we'll see how much the supporters hate this kid.

OOOOHHHH - YEAH!!! Let's fire someone after they sink the ship. That will be so fulfilling. Maybe I will let my kids play in the street so they can learn its a bad idea after they get hospitalized or killed being hit by a car. Stupid f-ing ideas are still stupid f-ing ideas when they don't end in catastrophe.

You must be the guy at the poker table going all in on inside straight draws all the time validating stupidity with "that's poker" comments when you suck out once every 20 times you make the move.

I know its draft season and you are probably preparing yourself for the inevitable let down coming in August so I forgive you.

Why the personal attack? I know I'm somewhat new, but for fuck's sake, can you chill out a bit?

Has Pace drafted a single player that looks like they'll make an impact? Honest question - not trolling. I used to follow the Bears but haven't watched in a couple seasons.

You are the one poking the bear (pun intended) while you admit to not having a dog in the fight. Now you are going to play "poor me"? If you are just playing devils advocate and trolling a bit - how could you possible take any response personally? Nothing to do with how new you are - if you can find a Bears fan that thinks this is anything but bad I would love to meet them though.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the rest of the draft - at this point I am going to mentally position myself the way I do the Raiders or Browns (historically) - as a smh observer of a slow motion train wreck.

Crus, there are only 7 rounds in the NFL draft. A 3rd round pick is a mid rounder.

My reply was sloppy, sorry. The #67 pick is not a mid level selection when there are 250+ total picks.

That was my point.

I posted an opinion about Pace to no one in particular. If you think I'm trolling you, get over yourself. Your horse shit poker analogy was incoherent anger. It's a football draft.

You're done with them anyway, so what the fuck do you care?

Reading the posts since the Trubinsky pick has been interesting.

We shall see what Trubinsky does. I do think the idea of signing Glennon and then picking T to sit a few years is wise. He better be good when his time comes but only time will tell. Yes, the Bears will still suck for the foreseeable future but that wouldn't change by trading down and picking-playing a bunch of rookies. Hopefully next year will "bear" some promising young players and after a few years, the team will mature and become a sound football team-again.

RDU-Stop drinking and posting. Harsh without cause. And how many NFL teams do you follow?

He only has had two drafts before yesterdays pick, so that is still a question. However, Leonard Floyd, was 3rd amongst all rookies in sacks, 36th overall, Jordan Howard a 5th rounder was 2nd in NFL in rush yards, and Cody Whitehair who never played center before did a hell of a job. So for the 2016 draft his only resume so far, i think he did pretty well. 2015 ranks as #7 draft class 206 ranks as #2

2017 to be seen.

Bears just traded the 36th pick. Included 221 in 7th. To Cardinals

Got 45, 119, 197 and 4 round next year in return.

Did AZ just trade up with Pace to get Kizer?

Thread is pretty comical. It was pretty obvious if you listened to Pace he was going to try to reacquire some of the picks they gave up when they grabbed Trubisky. All in all they lose a 3rd this year and next year but gain a 4th next 2 years and grab what they think to be their franchise QB and a big target over the middle for him. When healthy, the OL and combo of Howard should be enough to be a half decent offense and the front 7 continues to improve it will make a drastic impact on the defense as a whole.

Barring anything unforseen though, team probably finishes with 5-7 wins and John Fox gets the boot and Pace is allowed to hire his own coach.

2017 NFL Draft Tracker – NFL.com

Round 1, Pick 2 (2) (From 49ers) Mitchell Trubisky QB 6'2" 222 North Carolina 6.3

Pick Analysis: "I'm going to be the first one to put my hand up and say I obviously did not see that coming. I really thought that Chicago was excited about Mike Glennon. So they paid him pretty well and then to move up and give up that draft capital for Trubisky, for me, is a big risk." -- Mike Mayock

Round 2, Pick 13 (45) (From Cardinals) Adam Shaheen TE 6'6" 278 Ashland 5.8

Pick Analysis: "You talk about someone who's almost 280 pounds that is athletic enough to run like this, it looks like he's playing with middle-school people. ... He's a special talent. You look at Shaheen's background, like most tight ends, he can hoop." -- Daniel Jeremiah

Round 4, Pick 5 (112) (From Rams) Eddie Jackson S 6'0" 201 Alabama 5.4

Pick Analysis: Chicago's pass defense has been an issue for some time now. Jackson is coming off a season-ending injury, but he's one of the more versatile defensive backs in this draft. When healthy, he's a rare defender that puts points on the board when the ball's in his hands (5 TDs on INTs, punt returns since '15).--Mark Dulgerian

Round 4, Pick 13 (119) (From Cardinals) Tarik Cohen RB 5'6" 179 North Carolina A&T 5.4

Pick Analysis: Cohen brings some excitement to an offense that ranked t-28th in scoring last season. He'll only get a handful of touches each game, but he brings some big-play ability as an offensive weapon and returner. --Mark Dulgerian

Round 5, Pick 3 (147) Jordan Morgan G 6'3" 309 Kutztown (PA) 5.4

Pick Analysis: For a team that has plenty of offensive line needs in a year they invested so much in their QB position, it's surprising they waited this long to address their front. Morgan has the size and demeanor to compete in NFL trench warfare, but will he adjust to the level of competition in time to make an early impact? --Mark Dulgerian

The Bears have no picks in the 6th and 7th rounds. Most of the bear fans I have talked to were hoping they would spend most of their picks on D players. They end the draft with just 1.

Jebus. Mine is an outsiders opinion, but it really seems like the bears shit the bed.

That one has a rod in his leg and can't stay healthy. The rest other than the QB are small school guys. Very bizarre.

I'd say this GM has two years. Tops. I can understand the frustration.

Anybody watch the interview John Lynch gave today? According to him, Ryan Pace called HIM. I guess Pace called to let him know that if anyone started calling them to get their pick, to let him know and he would beat it....

Is this dude really a GM? I wonder if Lynch was able to hold off his laughter until after he hung up or not?

"Uh... uhm... yeah, Ryan... we're getting lots of offers. You're gonna have to really make your offer good"

He could be an interesting TE prospect. 6-6, 250 basketball weight. He played at Elkhart Concord.

Obviously tough to judge a draft the same day it ends but days 2 and 3 left a lot to be desired including swinging and missing on top UDFA targets. Hopefully Pace continues his trend of hitting on late round picks, especially for his job securities sake.
