We wasted so much time on our drive down 36-14. We were poorly coached all game, but little things like taking 20 secs to get the play in stood out live. It shows just how unprepared we are. I still don't really know our offensive identity.

It's frustrating to be 1-2 when it's apparent we had more talent than Texas and MSU. I don't even think firing BVG is the answer. BK is a GOOD coach but he just isn't the guy to take us to the next level IMO.

I've never felt that way before today, but it's tough to watch ND in year 7 of BK and Louisville in year 3 of Petrino.

It took Meyer/Harbaugh one season to pass BK with his head start and that's a fact.

^this is completely on the money and agree with all of it.

I've been anti BVG for a while, but never thought getting rid of BK was the answer. I'm rethinking. Shitty playcalling, shitty preparation, shitty all around. Sure they almost came back, but they should have NEVER been in that position in the first place. MSU is not a top 15 team. Bottom line, outprepared, outcoached, etc.

And at home. FML.

There where I think this time is different. We don't need to exactly 'start over.' Coaching, yes. But as far as players, we are in a lot better position than when BK took over. That's why I don't see us taking a huge step back if a change were to come.

Right, I'm not saying fire the players lol... but you can't tell me Petrino or Herman would've let that happen. Offense was completely unprepared to play, and that's supposed to be BK's calling card.

Isn't ND 1-4 in the past 5 games going back to last year? Ugh.
Yup. 1 win against the powerhouse Nevada.

I'm agreeing with you. My statement was more to people repeatedly saying we'd be starting over, aaking if we remember the Ty and Weiss years, and so on. I'm just saying if we make a change, it won't be anything like it was then. BK has done a great job of building the program back up.

What gets me is we've got a lot of really good ball players. Dear Lord Morgan and Coney were men out there tonight. The Tillery we've been hoping for showed up at last. Kizer shook off a shitty stretch of series to carry us back into the game late. Etc. And credit for some of that has to go back to Kelly. Now, Van Gorder I'm probably done with. And we had some questionable moves on offense. But I still see us going 9-3 and I don't think we blow up the program over that, plateau or no.

I'd happily keep BK if we could get Bo P

At minimum, BVG needs to go. Longo too.

Yes I agree with this. My saying "start over" was directed at the management and leadership of the program. I figured it went without saying that I'm not talking about "firing" the players. Everyone getting a salary associated with the program should be replaced. It's nothing personal and I'm not like raving mad right now, I've just finally accepted that this group isn't capable of taking the next step and I don't think waiting any longer is really going to help anything.

BK called a very unimaginative game until after it was out of reach. If the D and BVG were the only problems that would be one thing but its not the case. BK is the captain of a sinking ship and the responsibility lies with him. Every year he hangs onto the job past this season is just a waste.

MSU is not really #12. This is not a good football tEames ND is playing

This is a strange season. Lots of top 20 teams aren't really what most of us would think of as top 20 (or top 10). There just aren't enough even less sucky teams you'd rank ahead of them, though. Georgia's not really a top 10 team. There just aren't 10 other teams that are better. Almost everyone is mediocre this year.

BVG should have been fired after last year but tonight wasn't his fault. He should get at least one more week.

As much as I criticized Diaco in 2013, of he gets fired this year I would welcome him back.

That was literally the worst offensive play calling I have ever seen. Kelly, Denbrock, and Sanford are little bitches for not once trying to attack vertically for an entire half+ of football and letting MSU load up to stop the run.

Even worse, all the 3 and outs and turnovers got our defense absolutely gassed. They went from not being able to run the ball... to absolutely gashing us on the ground. Why? Because the defense was stuck on the field FOREVER.

Then you finally get aggressive and it starts working... and then you try a short pass (that fails), then another short pass, then instead of calling a QB draw for an easy first down... they run another short pass play, then take a sack, then punt in a situation where anything but a 3&out and the game is over. Bunch of wimps. You win in college football by being aggressive.

Shame on all of the offensive coaches. Also, Cole Luke picked a hell of a time to have BY FAR the worst game of his career.

I think we need to re-assess the idea that Luke is a good DB. He clearly is not.

He may make it through the rest of the season. May not. It doesn't really matter, as he won't be back next year regardless.

I wouldn't be surprised to see BK cut bait with him if the defense has another disastrous performance in the next week or two. Probably not be a terrible idea to let somebody else have a shot for the rest of this season to see what they can do.

The way Kelly looked at BVG on the third down catch to Corley and what he said during the post game press conference...BVG will not make it till the end of the season.

He played well when teams were trying to throwing away from KVR. I have no idea why he seems so lost now. Is it the lack of any safety help?

If Kelly wants to keep his job, he needs to put the blame on someone. BVG is the easy target.
