If we fire our defensive coordinator after one year with a lot of freshmen playing, I doubt any good defensive coordinators would be itching to take the job.

Nobody is calling for his job. He just needs to do a better job scheming against Navy.

I've said this every year, especially recently. I don't give a shit if Navy's offense is tricky or whatever. A team like Navy shouldn't be able to do squat against the top tier teams in D1A.

Look at all of the Notre Dame/Navy scores from the moment they brought in the triple option. Like 40% of the games are within one possession. It's not a Diaco/VanGorder thing. They also play close games against the likes of Ohio State too.

Also, since I don't see the obvious being stated, it's easier stop the triple option with a month to prepare instead of a week.

And we play them every year.. I would think some tendencies would be known by now.

Navy shot themselves in the foot that entire game. It was like 20% SDSU playing good defense and 80% Navy not being able to snap the ball or committing penalties or fumbling... I just can't believe how clean Navy plays against us seemingly every year but 2012.

This is not surprising given his relationship with DelRio and past job history. I think it's unlikely he leaves but it was one of my big concerns hiring him in the first place.

HAHAHAHAHA, just what we need ahead of NSD. This program can't get out of its own way. So who are the available DC's out there right now?

If you look at the posts, they admit they started the rumors as a joke then the beat writers took off with it. Not worried.

This thread has been consistently crap since before the Holidays.

I can't wrap my head around the kind of guy that would start a false "rumor" like this as a joke!

He's not heading to Oakland the rumor got shot down at 247

It's funny because there wasn't even really a true rumor with legs to begin with, just dumb bloggers being dumb. I never understand why people run with stuff before it's a thing.

I love your posts man! But the thing is, "he" was a god in August through October, and then when injuries happened by the bushels, he was the dog behind it all.

I am ambivalent to the debate; but it is kind of the the scientist that taught the frog to jump on command. He had that thing really leaping, and then to change the variables, he removed on of the frogs front legs. It still jumped, but of course not as far. He repeated this twice more with similar results. Finally he removed the frog's last leg and commanded it to jump. Nothing. The scientist shook his head and wrote his observation, "Removing a frog's four legs causes it to go deaf!"

.... and a Golden Dome opened revealing the Three-headed Entity of Swarjenkkelly who said: This is my beloved DC in whom I am well-pleased, don't be messing with him! And all of the faithful still having two functional braincells to rub together said: Alleluia! And Amen!

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Synergy.

Palaver.

Believe none of what you hear and half of what you read.

Or vice versa.

Love ya bogs and BVG but his D was absolute garbage against UNC prior to injuries. He refused to change his D while they got shredded against very inferior talent, something a good DC would do. The NW game regardless of injuries was the worst D peromance of of the Kelly era, IMO. The previous stats by their O backs that up.

What BVG needs to develop is a "changeup." You can't go fastball all the time, especially since exotic blitz packages frankly don't work against up tempo teams for a lot of reasons. He needs to have a Plan B for up-tempo spreads or teams like USC where our CBs flat out can't cover their WRs 1v1.

Exactly, which is something I was expecting from him. Not sayin it can't happen or it won't but I agree. I thought there was pretty poor in game planning. Mostly against NW and UL, we should have been able to make changes to stop those teams. Not that good offensively like USC and ASU.
