I might have been ok taking that bullet if it meant winding up with Treadwell, Morgan and a pipeline to a major local program.

Dismissed for academics in October? That seems odd... is Ole Miss on quarters or something?

Probably not. More likely he was doing so poorly that he would not have been able to improve and therefore would be ineligible....so cut the cord. This would allow him possibly to move on to somewhere else quickly before spring ball.

Lol GREAT point. Might have been worth it to take Standifer if it gets us Treadwell and Morgan.

On the other hand, playing devil's advocate, imagine this scenario: Standifer comes into Fall '12 camp and impresses. We keep KeiVarae Rusell at RB/slot and Standifer starts at CB ... then gets thrown out of school after starting for a year and a half, leaving us without an experienced starter at the position. Would suck.

Actually, as I reread that, probably still would have been worth it. Lo Wood and Cole Luke probably would have been just fine.

he had an opportunity for a college degree for free, play a game many would die for and he f#cked it up...why so sad...once u sign, ball out and do the work..

But then do we keep Hood? The butterfly effect could go on forever, but Ole Miss probably won't regret using that scholarship for a few semesters with Standifer.
