Bama is 13 point favorites over at home LSU. Each team is coming off a bye. Something tells me Saban off a bye will be much better than 13 points against them.

Coach Kelly, you had my curiousity, but now you have my attention.

IDK, but they packed up his locker for him.

IIRC, it was more they were mad he was bailing than they didn’t like him as a person. There’s a video of them doing it, and one guy does say “well he sucked anyways,” so there is that.

Alabama is a little bit down this year (admittedly not much.)
The rest of college football needs to make this as bad as we can on them.
Still stuns me that folks can't see the necessity of leveling the recruiting
field, and that keeping Alabama OUT of playoffs is the only way to do that.

People should be hoping sincerely that LSU beats Alabama. (even if they hope
Coach Kelly loses the rest of his games.)

The CFP landscape is expanding within the next few years so why would I ever cheer on a BK coached team after the disrespect he showed ND both when leaving and since leaving? I hope LSU goes 0-12 every year he is there and will never cheer for his team no matter who they play.

Fine. That's your privilege.
My view is that anyone who ever hopes Alabama wins (any game) is not an ND supporter
until the day comes when they cannot essentially sign eight out of ten players they really want.

I want a college landscape where perhaps a dozen teams have genuine chances of signing the 5-stars
and Notre Dame is one of them.

I obviously want that too, Mike. Where some others seem to the disagree is your disdain for 'Bama specifically. Georgia and OSU recruit as well or better than Saban. 'Bama wins more simply because they have the best coach. So if we're being consistent, we should be rooting for the Big Three to lose every game in the interest of parity, and not singling out the Tide for special criticism.

I absolutely hope against all three of them.
The question broached here/now involved Alabama vs LSU this Saturday.
Ask me about OSU vs the hated wolverines, and I'll hope for UofM too, on exactly the same grounds.
I used to not have to worry about GA, as they always #$%^%$# it up.

... on a one-tier down basis, I also hope against FSU, USC, Oklahoma, Clemson, and maybe a couple of others due to the recruiting landscape almost entirely. I actually enjoy watching good football and good athletes, but this #$%^ recruiting business gets in the way.
I may have to add in A&M and others if NIL etc gets further out of hand.

Don't hope against AnM. Just hope they keep Jimbo and it'll work itself out.

He was far more candid than I expected in that podcast. Admittedly, when he left ND (leaving first of all, but also the way in which he did) it left a bad taste in my mouth. But I enjoyed listening to BK and Shaun talk LSU, ND, comparing the two, the SEC vs Independence, "The Process," the way ND is playing, etc. Don't get me wrong, I still hope Saban runs up the score on them. But that podcast was a good listen. Thanks for sharing.

i watched Shawn Crawford's interview --- some here won't be able to because of hate, but if you aren't hung up, it was very interesting --- all of it. Coach Kelly was frank about the difference that SEC Defensive lines and Wide Receivers give you every week, and this was interesting to hear as it anchored my understanding about what the differences really are. He also remarked about how relatively easy it was to recruit due to the condensed area that the staff needed to cover vs ND's national requirements. And he was very collegial and upbeat about Coach Freeman as I knew he would be. If you don't have hatred for CoachK you should watch this. If you do, then you'll miss the insights.

Crawford by the way did a very good job, and was himself very affectionate towards his old coach.

Crawford should have asked him who is hotter: LSU or ND? Discomfort is a good thing. Cuts right to the truth. That question about advice was on a tee.

Crawford is very respectful. I really admired his choice to return also after some serious injuries. Wish him the best. I didn’t watch the entire interview, but Kelly has the capacity to be measured in his responses, so I am sure he was cordial.

Seems like the vast majority of Crawford's guests are Notre Dame connections.

... just another thing that ND can offer these kids.

I am going to need you to expound on this for me if you would be so kind, considering that in another thread people are blaming a stadium that is nearly 100 years old, an administration, and trash talking for Michigan State players beating people with helmets.

Well it’s easy for Kelly to be generous because he is now I suppose the top 10 team and Notre Dame is struggling to get ranked again. Certainly validates his ego.

The disrespect was only minor not palpable. Most of it was useful criticism in truth.
The only thing I remember thinking was actually disrespectful was him gushing over the talent level he suddenly has at LSU (and implying correctly that it is higher than the talent at ND).

There is no LSU contract without Notre Dame being generous to Brian Kelly.

He beat LSU while he was at ND. Twice.
