He’s brought stability back to the program (even though I was one that never thought Oregeron should have been fired so quickly). He’s done some good things (Heisman - even though that’s an individual award; got us to the SEC Championship), but, to date, has still fallen short. Not sure he’s the guy to get us over the hump.

I said it before, it’s like purgatory. He’s good enough for 8/10…9/10 programs, but God, he can’t give over the hump and sucks all the fun and identity of a program.
Honestly, BK hasn't even done as well there as I thought he would. He has yet to really replicate his 2017-21 success at LSU.

I agree. 33-12 record (73.33%). Last year was the real let down. That team was closer to .500 team than 9-4. They had some lucky breaks (South Carolina and Ole Miss, for example).

Unpopular opinion: Coach got screwed by the worst defensive personnel in LSU history to start with --- and not his fault. It has been hard (in that league and vs that recruiting gauntlet) to completely repair that while trying to find another superman QB. I still believe that will happen if he doesn't get himself fired first.

As to a obvious shortcoming: I agree with a previous post that he tends to be like Belichek without the Dan Campbell Har-Har-when-appropriate --> so he does take some of the "Fun" out of football. He had that once and lost it. I remember him and Robby Toma joking round on the practice field while Toma was declaring himself a "Natural." I have not seen that natural interacting Brian Kelly for a while

Consider how and when he took over at ND. There was talent on the roster but a team that folded in the fourth quarter and in November, mostly due to strength and conditioning. He comes to ND and goes 8-3 vs SC after 8 straight years of defeat to the Trojans prior to his arrival. Wins more games than Rockne, never finishes higher than 3rd.

In this era, the SEC is deeper than it was before for Saban. It's probably going to be more of the same. Very stable, good but not great, no National Championship. Some good, but ultimately, does he get you to the mountain top? Probably not.

We lost to SC 8 straight times because they had Carroll. BK would have had no better success against Carroll than Weis or Willingham did.

He lucked out and got the revolving door of SC coaches in young Lane/Ed O/Tequila Steve, and Clay.

I mean, if you think someone losing their life is funny, by all means laugh.
Yeah, there's a lot of truth to the idea that tragedy + time = comedy, but with a couple paradoxical stipulations:

1) It's easier to laugh about large scale loss of life than one individual death.
2) It's easier to laugh about the death of a public figure than the death of a common person.

"Hey, remember when Declan Sullivan died?" doesn't get the yuks unless the audience just doesn't give a shit.

Are we allowed to laugh yet

And to cross it with an Iwo Jima reference? What the hell. I just don't even get it.

Not surprising to me though as I feel like the internet has taught people to laugh at real tragedy and celebrate mockery over all.

Not to start some philosophical debate, but I've just never understood these types of jokes.

Yeah. I guess timing really is only a thing for the guys like Brian Kelly.

Looks like BK was a lot smarter than most in regards to being slow to judgment where Lacy was concerned. Here is a lot of evidence against Lacy and in support of police.

That was one of the reasons I quit posting on Buckeye boards. For some reason they found the whole thing funny, and that's pretty sick. They passed it off like it was okay because they disliked Kelly and said they were mad about the whole thing. Obviously there was no consideration for the Sullivan family. You can hate Brian Kelly all you want, or any coach for that matter. It's pretty shitty to make light of the accident, it's classless and scummy.

Yeah, looks like the defense attorney was doing what defense attorneys do —skewing the facts and muddying the waters.

The wait and see approach is likely the best.

He was counting on people forgetting the relationship between speed, time and distance.

It’s sports in the social media trolling age. I hate it. On X, I think a lot of it is engagement farming. Similar to almost every CFB talking head bring up the topic of ND making the CFP if they go 10-2 despite not being half way through the season & plenty of other topics to discuss. The other is just pure shit posting for LOLs and hate watching. Sad.
