Anyone check in on LSU fans?
How are they doing these days?lol
On TigerDroppings they’re pretty split.

Half giving us our roses.

Half defending BK and saying we were lucky to win a home playoff game (?) and beat a team (SEC Champs lol) with a backup QB.

They also keep talking about our "creampuff" schedule, completely ignoring the fact that we are 2-0 and they're 0-2 against our common opponents

Edit - I also love them talking about "just wait, BK is getting better players, next year is the year, watch out", bless their hearts

Coach better watch out. He is loading up so much talent in the after-season, he's creating Champion or nothing expectations.

Last night really seals BK’s legacy. I thought there was a chance Father Time may look back at the BK era more favorably and have fonder memories of BK, but nope. Every excuse he made. Every big game he came out flat in. It all turned out to be self-imposed limitations. People will largely forget the shit show he walked into and how he did stabilize the program. That will all be forgotten. His legacy is simply the man that got Marcus Freeman to Notre Dame.

I fucking love all the strays Brian Kelly is catching.

The best ones are "Marcus Freeman won more big games in Louisana than Brian Kelly" and "Brian Kelly couldn't win a major bowl in 10 years. Marcus Freeman won two in the same year."

Also this is Franklin related but its a boom roasted: Freeman has more top 5 wins in the past week than Franklin has in his entire career.

In 9 drives, ND threw for 267 yards. That’s…….a lot. Team had 11 drives total but the two INTs did not complete a pass before the drive ended. Said earlier in the week PSU secondary was overrated and Leonard would have to make plays. Was not the prettiest and Angeli accounted for some of it but it got there by the end
That DL covers up a lot of their weaker secondary. That Carter is an absolute game wrecker. Great job by our QBs standing tall

I will always give Kelly credit for being a professional that brought back a level a production/consistency to ND. He has a lot of similarities to James Franklin, if we're being honest. We don't end up with a high ceiling guy like Freeman if Kelly doesn't exorcise the demons of the Davies/Willingham/Weis era.

With that being said -- his flirtation with the Eagles in 2013 will always be what torpedoed his tenure at ND more than any other singular decision (yes, even hiring BVG). It killed his recruiting momentum, burned a ton of goodwill, and ultimately was a harbinger of how things would end.

All of this. Using the NFL as a negotiation tool was a massive blow. The sad part is, everyone at the time could see it, except him.

I was saying once MFMF had rumors of NFL, him shutting it down so quickly and definitively was 💯 on purpose.

As I said before, he did say about a year before he left.”We likely have the next coach at ND on our current staff.” He knew it was gonna be MMFF!

The part of me that is inclined to extend a ton of generosity to Kelly believes that he left because he knew that MF was special and that he needed to get out of his way or lose him.

But then the rational part of you says, “Who am I kidding? Kelly is a selfish prick who left because he was all about taking the easier path and never really cared about ND.” Maybe ‘choose hard’ should’ve been his mantra?

Definitely this and not the $100M LSU threw at him or how much easier it would be to win there lol

I never thought he was using it as negotiation (I could be wrong), I think he truly wanted to go to the NFL. Notre Dame was always just another stepping stone for him. I'm like Lax, I appreciate what Kelly did for ND, no animosity towards him at all. I also think he may have been geared more for the NFL, just the way he approached things.

I think there’s a synthesis here—$100 milly helps solve the problem of Freeman’s breath getting hot on the back of your neck.

I think he knew his last 3 DCs were better coaches than him and eventually the offense would have a season that would get him blamed and fired so LSU was an amazing escape hatch to stay in the game

This wasn't an old man trying to leave his beloved high school or college program in capable hands.

It was a dude who got frustrated he hadn't won at ND and thought more fertile recruiting grounds would make winning easier.

Yeah, I think this is where I land. Though, to be clear, LSU brought a big enough pile of money to the table that no other explanation is really necessary. Certainly, I would walk away from my job in a heartbeat for that amount of money.
