Brian Kelly Revisited (RIP BOZO)

I thought Kelly had some pretty good rooms at ND, the field is where the problems occurred.

I think he consistently had a bunch of serviceable quarterbacks, but never anyone elite. That's what I feel like he's got currently at LSU, although Daniels and Nuss maybe a little better than "serviceable."

The closest Midwestern comparison in terms of vibe and food in a college town is probably Madison, WI.

Go sit at the bar at The Chimes, grab some oysters and swill some beer. If you’re into music, check out The Varsity next door.

Check out Mike’s habitat (by PMAC), hit a baseball game if you’re in town (we have Alabama this weekend) — unbelievable baseball atmosphere in the SEC, check out the Indian Mounds and walk through the Quad and check out the live oaks and architecture. I’m biased, but it’s a top 5 campus in terms of architecture and natural scenic beauty. Check out the lakes and sorority / fraternity houses lining them. Let me know if you need other recommendations (food, drinks, breweries, etc.) Enjoy

One of my buddies from Indiana went to LSU for grad school (Aquaculture) and he definitely enjoyed Baton Rouge.

That said, the fan base is actually split on the QB. Some, myself included, think Kelly and/or Denbrock suffocate Daniels. They’ve purportedly harped over and over and over again not to turn over the ball. It’s made the kid hesitant to sling it down the field. Unreal running threat though.

Not surprised. Kelly’s style is to play conservatively minimize TO’s and penalties and let the other team beat themselves.

I know, I know. As mentioned (almost to the point of ad nauseum), I'm a LSU guy who is also a Notre Dame fan. Making my first-trip to South Bend this year for a game (that's how I found the site -- the "First Time Visitors" thread stickied at the top). For whatever reason, some people (I believe IrishSteelhead may as well) believe that I'm an alter. Whatever. That said, I'm merely just wanting to extend any additional tips and insight to IrishSteelhead so, if time permits, he can enjoy BR. Hell, if he was in NOLA for work, I'd offer to buy him a beer, and talk football. Geaux Tigers. Go Irish.

I remember it being a certified “big deal” early in his tenure how he struggled to beat ranked teams and his record against AP Top 25 and AP Top 10 was rough until Kelly 2.0 starting in 2017.

FSU looks very flawed and he got waxed by them week one. Then he got torched for 50+ by Ole Miss. His record dating back to the end of last year is abysmal and he has no excuse for their defense being this bad.

He has always lived and died with his DC. Diaco, Elko, and Lea made him a lot of money. BVG almost got him fired.
