I am watching his press conference now and he is so full of shit.

Kelly said he is excited about seeing Garth Brooks at tiger stadium. He said he is good to see. I saw him at the other place i was at. What the other place you were at? It was Fucking Notre Dame man not the other place you were at!

I suppose everyone is laying into BK but I think he was a great coach and I think the ending was just business.
Go beat Bama win a natty and then come back (or not).

I’ll offer some small defense of Kelly at this time. Kelly was not as “For the Brotherhood”, ND family, etc as we thought. Clearly.

Freeman isn't either. Nor is Swarbrick.

If Freeman strings together 3 8-9 win seasons, he's gone. No amount of love for the University changes your status. Win or leave.

Sincerely,
Gerry Faust

Let’s clear this up. It’s that Kelly went out like a little bitch that has the majority of ND fans no longer praising him. There were plenty of us, myself included, who often stood for tricky dick when his detractors were pissing in his take-a-knee cheerios to get him gone. Now, he’s just another little man pretending to be a hot chick flaunting some dollars in his g-string. But yes, as he now talks shit about ND, let him forever opine “on that other place” as the last place he could feign class before he went fully bankrupt for some coin.

Meh.

Kelly is a business man, who was treated like one, and expected to act like one.

He just banked a 10yr $95M contract for an exciting new gig.

ND had no desire to go there...none.

It's just business, sorry.

Nope. And I didn’t ask for your apology, but thanks.

Gerry Faust regular season victory count...5,6,6,7,5.

You are 100% correct. If he goes 5,6,6 in first three years he is gone. Now, win 8/9 per year....warm seat, but not gone. Kelly's first 5 years regular season....7,8,12,8,7.

It is just business. That's just truth.

Apology retracted.

Okay, but your definition of business is not all encompassing. You can certainly justify an individual acting like an asshole as “just business” all you want, but it doesn’t make it true that all business is nor should be conducted in a classless manner. I’ll leave it at that.

mark my words... Gone.

Kelly had to rebuild a program.

Freeman's job is to take a program with excellent talent, add elite talent, and go to the next level. If he gets less wins than Kelly over the next 3 years he should be fired. There are no cracks in the foundation, but we do not have elite talent either. So, Freeman's role will be to move us to the next level...OR, at least, not regress

I get it...but there's never "good" timing when a job opens up.

I was a bit pissed when I heard, but I looked at the situation and it makes sense.

He wants a shot at the SEC with no recruiting restrictions and the chance to rebuild a program. He got it. It's not something I ever thought he would do, but whatever.

No one is making this point. Of course Freeman has to win. Yes, the stakes are higher with a fuller cupboard. However, one could argue that an important reason Freeman earned the head coaching position was because he approached his job with a passion and sincerity that had players and recruits truly wanting him to be their leader. And that matters to your point of winning. Name dropping Faust doesn’t detract from Freeman’s ability as a coach. And stating that “Freeman isn’t” invested in the culture in a familial way belies what likely pushed his hiring over the top.

I was surprised. But it's super obvious none of you guys have been on the other end of the transaction.

Kelly left Cincy before a big bowl game. I got a text at a movie an hour after a playoff game that my alma mater's coach was leaving. This is how it goes.

I'm not happy Kelly left before finishing the job (winning a natty) but it sounds like there was more to it..who knows. I'm sure it will become clear in time. It just moved up the schedule.

Hopefully Freeman gets us where we belong and hopefully CBK can find fulfillment too. Dude could have walked off at halftime in a rivalry game, I'd still be grateful. He fixed a lot of the problems in South Bend

Kelly did what he was brought here to do. I don't know how many of you have worked at a company that was either acquired or brought in a new CEO. Kelly is and always has been a CEO consultant. Tell him what you want and it's his job to create. Doesn't mean he has to believe it himself, just find the right people for what the company wants, get rid of the people that don't fit that, and then they move on to their next gig. Most don't take 12 years that is for sure and his ego wasnt ideal but it is what it is. He was a success, he was the right man for the job.

Thank you for putting some respect back into ND football Brian. Now fuck off. And he has no problem doing just that, and thats just fine.

Don’t think this is true as I can’t find a source but if a ND fan is making this up that sucks.

Like him or hate him, BK is clearly an opportunist. Perhaps he tells his agent to listen to any opportunity that comes his way.

Can the NFL pay more than $10MM annually for a HC?? Plus his buyout at LSU??

If so, I could see him jump. That’s BK.
