I mean they should be a top 10 team next year, Nussmeier is very good and could easily be a heisman contender. They also ended this season #11 in Sargarin.

They should (emphasis added) be extremely good next year. We already have a lot of talent coming back and they cleaned up in the portal addressing key needs by adding 8 top-100 players among the 16 transfers. No other FBS program has more.

That said, I’m not getting my hopes up and I’m sure Kelly will blow a few, starting with week 1 at Clemson…Until Kelly demonstrates he can win the opening game (0-2 FSU; 0-1 USC), I can’t pick them. Especially against a very good Clemson team and at their house. That said, he legitimately might get canned if he misses the Playoffs this upcoming season. Absolutely no excuse with this team.

This team on paper, again, should (emphasis added) be a NC contender. Doubtful, but let’s see if Kelly has them prepared and coaches them up.

Who does Ole Miss bring back? Ole Miss and TAMU look like tough games. Does Bama have a QB?

Kelly will probably have you all in the playoffs, you guys are loaded and Clemson's team should be overwhelmed by the talent gap.

Probably have to go 10-2 right? Maybe can afford a third loss if it's the SEC title game. But that's a tough schedule with 6 or 7 loseable games including trips to Clemson, Ole Miss, Bama and Oklahoma (though at least A&M and Florida are at home).
LSU *should* make the playoffs, with the talent on that roster, but they'll need to earn it.

I appreciate what he did for the program and I try to stay away from this thread. But the more distance we get from the Kelly regime, and how it compares with MF's program, the more it becomes clear that BK is just an all around garbage human being.

Glad he's gone.

BK is an absolute piece of shit. Maybe he can't reach out now because of the lawsuit, but he couldn't reach out after he got out of surgery? He couldn't have called his dad and said he's praying for the kid (even though he would have been lying). He couldn't have visited him at the hospital? I reached out to a woman I knew from HS because her kid has cancer and I don't even have ties to her family. It's not that hard to say something.

I had this thread on ignore for the longest, but wanted to take a look after I saw this news elsewhere.

Just glad every day that he and ND parted ways.

Prayers to little Greg and his family; such a sad story.

Pick up the phone Kelly. I am so glad Freeman is at ND and Kelly isn't.

I know how extremely unpopular this is, and expect nothing less than hatred for mentioning it, but my sense of morality etc forces me to say:

A. Kelly was specifically named by Brooks Senior and the family in the October lawsuit they filed (even though it would be a very difficult reach to accuse him of causing either a brain tumor or a bad team trainers assessment, or, still worse, a bungled brain surgery.) Nevertheless he was specifically named; (along with other coaches and the university);

B. LSU went officially silent on this since they were ultimately the main party charged, and no one was to comment publicly about the case. Nevertheless, Kelly DID comment about the situation in early October, saying all the correct things about Brooks,Jr and the team, how everyone on staff and teammates are praying for him, etc, and that the university does not want further involvement publicly in this situation because of the lawsuit.

Now all sorts of folks will find that unacceptable, but at least we should all begin our various levels of hatreds and blames on at least this much awareness of what has happened and possible constrictions. As to "family visits" I would guess that the father naming Kelly in the lawsuit would put a damper on the enthusiasm for that "confrontation."

According to r/cfb there are multiple reports that BK stayed overnight in the kid's hospital room and was very supportive until the lawsuit, at which time he was told by LSU to drop contact.

Who knows what's true but there's a semi-decent chance that BK is being typecast here because he's an easy mark.

Unfortunate situation all around regardless. I don't blame LSU for covering their asses, and I don't blame the family for trying to get as much money as possible given the realities of healthcare costs.

If the kid throws up two days in a row, it's time to put on the brakes and get him checked out more thoroughly than by a trainer. Prayer to the kid and family.

Yeah this is pretty much what I figured. Truth doesn't really matter now since its already out there.

Sounds like dad embellished the story of coaches not being there a little bit, maybe a lot. I know he's going through a lot of pain but lying about it isn't a good look.

The kid has neurological deficits after undergoing surgery for brain cancer. How is that a surprising outcome or sign of negligence? There's no way in hell they're winning this lawsuit

I've been on juries. What "we" are interested in is who or what entity was actually in arrears as far as causing whatever is in dispute. If the negligence is tied down to a bad surgeon's work, then that surgeon will be culpable. If some other entity was party somehow to facilitating that "bad" act, then the other entity can also be blamed (if not primarily culpable, then the Judge plays a bigger role.)

Harry Truman said that "the Buck stops here." Frankly I generally like Truman, but he was full of shit on that as any kind of generalization. The top entity (person or organization) is obviously NOT able in any reasonable way to control in detail each action at every moment of an imperfect human. Reasonable people (and reasonable jurors) understand that. Sure "The Man" IS sometimes the main asshole, but sometimes that entity is not. Life's complicated and not controllable.

Having said that, LSU will probably partially fold and settle out of court --- because that's what universities do. Eat the "fine" and avoid the publicity. This whole affair could just have been a bad roll of the genetic/environment dice, perhaps slightly aided by a brain surgeon who wasn't top of his class, yet could still be very good. (Brain cancer, by the way, shouts clearly of already serious brain threatening damage requiring tissue removal. You don't just remove locales in the brain and assume that all the functions will be unaffected.)
