Down here, no one from the ACC wants to go to the Sun Bowl. I don't even know what the Belk bowl is.

If we go to a crappy bowl, this is the one I want. It's in Charlotte right around Christmas. Easy 2 hour drive to get there.

Pinstripe Bowl. Never been to NYC, always wanted to go.

Wouldn't mind this. I've never seen ND play in a bowl game and this could be my best chance. This is of course assuming we don't win out and land in a BCS game after all..

Cacky, you got that right. My high school class in Orlando had maybe three or four "natives" and that was simply because their NY, NJ, OH, IN, NE, IL, CA, RI, MA, etc. parents were still "ripe and randy."

While there are certainly pockets in Florida that are "Southern" they are overwhelmed by the populations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Naples, St. Petersburg, Orlando and many other cities.

I'd mention Cubanos, but they're more southern than the "Southeners."

Can't say I've ever been to north Florida, but always got the sense it's pretty "southern," right? Jacksonville, Tallahassee, the Panhandle. Tampa and Orlando are full of transplants. The Palm Beach-to-Miami metropolis known as "South Florida" just seemed like this weird mashup of New York, the Carribean and Brazil. Strange place, Florida.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but my dream scenario is for us to win out and play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

If we win out and go 10-2, and Oregon wins out and goes 13-0, the Rose Bowl would need a replacement for the Pac-12 Champion, and there is a good chance that there would not be a Pac-12 team ranked in the Top 14. It wouldn't be easy, but it's not impossible.

1) ND wins out and finishes 10-2 and in the Top 14.
2) Oregon wins out and finishes 13-0 and in the Top 2

If these two things happen, that means Stanford has at least 2 losses left (Oregon, ND) and a good chance that they wouldn't finish in the Top 14

The only other teams that would be a risk to finish in the Top 14 from the PAC-12 all seem to have 3 potential losses on their schedule
- USC (even if they win out after us, they'd still lose to Oregon in the PAC-12 Champ)
- UCLA (still has to play Stanford, Wash, USC, and potentially Oregon twice)
- Washington (2 losses already and still has to play UCLA, AZ State)

If we are in the top 14 with our 2 loses being OU and UofM, Stanford would be right there with us losing only to us and a top 2 Oregon team.

Utah.

Edit: Everyone beat me to it. Oregon State went 9-3 and finished in the Top 14, so Stanford certainly could as well. This Rose Bowl thing was just something I dreamed up at work when bored.

I looked it up on wikipedia. I hate when advertisers completely take over the bowl name. Granted I know the Bowls are about making money but just as a player wouldnt you be able to take more pride in the game youre playing in if it was called the Independence, Tangerine, Peach, or Citrus Bowl compared to being called the advocare, Champs Sports, Chik-Fil-A, and Capital One Bowl. Sure I know one more game is one more game no matter what ya call it but its just sounds better being called something more official then having the advertisment tacked on compared to the ad being the name of the bowl.

And apparently - according to wikipedia - Advocare won't even be the sponsor after this year. Who knows, maybe it'll go back to the Independence Bowl.

Anybody remember the Bluebonnet Bowl? I would guess that was one of the first bowls named after a sponsor, if in fact it was named after the brand of butter, not sure.

I don't have a problem with that but those sound better than the Sunkist Bowl. Some people already don't show the bowl itself much respect anyway if it isn't a BCS game and calling it something ridiculous like the Champs Sports Bowl or Capital One Bowl doesn't help that even though in years passed the Champs Sports Bowl has had two ranked teams playing in it and the Capital One Bowl always has two ranked teams playing in it. In 04 and 05 the capital one bowl was prolly the most exciting game on New Year's Day Purdue and UGA went to OT and Iowa beat LSU on a Hail Mary pass.

It is pretty damned depressing looking at our BCS history:

2000: Fiesta-41-9 loss to Oregon State
2005: Fiesta: 34-20 loss to Ohio State
2006: Sugar- 41-14 loss to LSU
2011: BCS Title Game: 42-14

Wherever we go, our defense better show up.

Is the Rose Bowl (currently) obligated to take a Pac-12 team should the Pac-12 champion make the BCS National Championship? When Oregon played Auburn in 2010 (well, 2011..), TCU was selected but I thought I remember there being discussion about mandating a Pac-12/Big Ten match up?

My point is...could the Notre Dame vs Stanford game end up being basically a Rose Bowl play-in game? Should Notre Dame win they'd be 10-2 (and on a seven-game winning streak), and Stanford would be 9-3 (assuming they only lose to Oregon).

Notre Dame vs Ohio State in the Rose Bowl? Mother of god...

No, Buster. If a B1G team or PAC12 team is playing in the NCG, theres no obligation for the Rose Bowl to pick a team from that conference still. At least that's what I remember from the beginning of the season. I was hoping back in August that this team could maybe find a favorable matchup for a big BCS game, thought we needed a couple more years before testing a team like Alabama again. With OSU being a perceived candidate for the NCG, the Rose Bowl seemed like a likely fit.
