I remember playing a team in the snow in Texas, I'm pretty sure El Paso. BK still had that young chubbiness going for him....

I was on the fence going to the reliaquest, but I am not missing this one!

I was stationed at Fort Bliss for a couple of years. When ND played Miami, I was too poor to fly down to see. Vowed that the next chance they play, I'm going.

Tickets ordered boys, LFG!

Notre Dame last appeared in the Sun Bowl in Tommy Rees's freshman season as the Irish quarterback, beating Miami, 33-17, with snow on the ground and receiver Michael Floyd starring in most of the afternoon's highlights, turning six catches into 109 yards and two touchdowns in his final collegiate game.
I remember Ben Turk warming up pregame in shorts and a cut off shirt while the Miami players were dressed like they were in Antartica.

I was actually amped for the bowl game against LSU. Then I talked myself into it being funny to eat a giant pop tart.

Now this is just dumb/boring.
And 2pm on a Friday to boot.

That’s when I knew it was over. They wanted no part of that game.

Don’t know if it’s true or not, but read Oregon State will not have starting QB, RB or RT for the game.

DJU is in the portal, RB picked up for DUI, don't know about the RT. He's a projected 1st rd pick, so he might sit.

Coach already left for Michigan State.

Then ND needs to win by 3 scores, playing a lot of underclassmen, winning 10 games & getting a lot of momentum going into next season.
Starting 10-12 in the polls & going 10-2, gets you in the CFP.
Starting 15-20 in the polls and going 10-2 probably doesn’t.

I feel like Golden had DJ's number last year. Now we'll get an unknown QB with no game film on him. Good be good for us or bad.

Forgot the article, but I read earlier today the Sun Bowl rep nearly fell over when he heard ND was still available when the ACC finally called.

My conspiracy theory is mid tantrum, the ACC held ND out of the pool for the more desirable bowls to sabotage them and ensure they don’t draw dick. They still get cut a check regardless of attendance, etc.

On paper the ranked matchup looks better than facing Rutgers or West Virginia. The bowl may be low, but hopefully their 3rd string QB is trash and we get another ranked bowl win to add to the resume.

I remember our Hawaiian guys doing a Hakka dance at the talent show. Canes wanted no part of that game.

I don't think that's a conspiracy theory. John Brice basically said the ACC took care of their own first.

I'm happy for El Paso publicly talking about the significant economic impact that ND brings to their city. They are genuinely happy about this and it just further confirms the relevance that is the ND brand.

Also, if anyone wants to direct a string of irrational words to someone responsible, that article makes it seem like Michael Strickland would be the person to receive them. His job is not to overstep the contractual obligations. I'm curious if Mr. Strickland will still have that position in a year. ND has a vested interest in ensuring this doesn't happen again.

We can't be 'silently' blackballed and drop from higher-status bowls because someone has an axe to grind or vested interest in other teams taking ND's selected position.

Great article that breaks down the events that led to this. The video from the local station they linked was pretty good too:

I get that the ACC got screwed a bit, but then they pass the buck to us? Fuck that, time to get out of the ACC. Seems like they don't care or need the revenue that Notre Dame brings to the conference, but people like the reps for the Sun Bowl and El Paso sure seem appreciative watching that video. They said in 2010 when Notre Dame came in it was the biggest economic impact they've ever seen. Tickets sold out in 24 hours again this time. If I'm happy for anyone, I'm happy for the city of El Paso.
