This may have already been said, but....we are 11-0 heading into Stanford.

FWIW, I said last year at this time we would be 11-0 heading into USC. My friends and fellow coaches called me crazy. I told them to just wait and see. Needless to say the 2012 football season was a fun one for me in the coaches room at my HS. Thankfully, the first time I saw everyone after the NCG all they wanted to talk about was Te'o and not the NCG.

So what will be your punishment when –not if – your prediction falls flat?

Clarification and clarvoyance

With Fall Camp starting Monday, I thought I would resuscitate this thread and clear up a few things and start a fun little repository for those that wanted to swing out whether green Kool-Aid, or bad Karma induced, with final preseason predictions.

I have been accused of all kind of things including being an inaccurate poster and saying wild-@ss off the wall things. In the past I have made the following predictions;

Dayne Crist would emerge as a starting quarterback.

Harrison Smith would be a star.

In '11, I predicted the ND defense would be "Best in America" as HS chanted; I predicted top ten defense.

This year I stated the following;

The defense would be better than last year.

Danny Spond would be the starting Dog.

ND would have eight elite players between down linemen and OS linebacker. (That total included the prospect of EV playing with balls and being Irish.)

The wide receiver corps would play like "radio-active" zombie killers and really break out.

And that the Irish staff brought back quick distribution "stuff" from Foxboro, as well as some special teams stuff and some defensive gold, including some related to disguising tendencies, and changing pressures.

I am not interested in discussing or rehashing any of the verbiage of this or that. That is moronic and a bit unbalanced of course; but I will be responsible for the accuracy or inaccuracy of my predictions! But here are a few more for the season.

More people will contribute on offense this year than anyone thought possible. Position groups and formations are going to disguise a lot of offensive intent. The offense has over twenty regular contributors (maybe 25), including five true freshmen.

At least seven offensive linemen contribute regularly. I know many feel that doesn't work. But I played on one years ago that did. And it will this year for ND.

Onwualu and Robinson will contribute greatly, as well as someone that is thought of as a defensive player.

On defense before they are done both Jarron Jones and Isaac Rochelle will outshine Eddie Vanderdos.

ND's defense will be better this year than last.

The overall linebacker corps is deeper and wider. There are more that can play and the outsides have improved. Losing Manti would normally set any defense way back, but if Diaco can bring Jaylon Smith inside for passing downs, (of which there will be many), OMG, Becky! . . . Seriously, that linebacker corps with Shembo and Okwara at one end and Spond and Councell at the other, with Fox, Calabrese, Moore and Grace in the middle, and Jaylon Smith able to play anywhere, It joins the D-line as an Über-talented group.

Cam Mcdaniel leads the team in rushing.

Andrew Hendrix takes over the starting job at halftime of the Michigan game due to Ree's poor performance. Hendrix proceeds to become a sensation and leads ND to a BCS bowl bid.

Nix gets a goal line package and scores a TD.

Troy Niklas leads the team in reception TD's with 8.

Elijah Shumate blows someone up along the sidelines, this hit is replayed all over sports channels as the biggest hit of the season.

Ishaq Williams leads the team in sacks with 9.

What he said ^.

Hendrix will have a monster year (he'll pick up +600 yds rushing) and Cam will surprise everybody with his power and quickness: we're talking Danny Woodhead here.

Cam will run with power like Danny Woodhead?

If the season plays out where Hendrix is playing enough to get 600 yds rushing, that means ND must be up by 40 midway through the 3rd quarter on almost every game (would be awesome, but no way that happens), OR the season has gone catastophically bad.

Looks like there's gonna be a fire sale on green Kool-Aid this week!

It doesn't mean that at all.

It means Kelly and Martin will have Hendrix run a lot of option plays given his size, strength and speed. He won't be doing it in clean-up time.

Kelly is going to platoon at QB this year (think Pike and Collaros (sp?) at Cincy). I think it'll be all Rees and Hendrix. Zaire won't see the field absent either (1) injuries to 1A and 1B; or (2) meltdown by 1A or 1B.

Was this one a joke? Rees has only thrown 24 int's in his first three seasons combined. He could never even get to that number in one season, because he would be pulled far before then.

Bold prediction: Brown and DD emerging bookend, big-play WRs and Jaylon Smith as a regular contributor on defense.

Hope: GAIII learns to stop stopping, and Ishaq Williams drinks a lot of caffine before each game.

Weird premonition: Jarron Jones eventually becomes a good NT.

1. Stanford is the only team to put up more than 10 on our D
2. TJ Jones and DD combine for 15 TDs
3. Our running game is the best statistically we've had in 10 years
4. Rees throws for 25 TDs while throwing only 5 INTs
5. Tuitt, Nix, and TJ Jones are all taken in the first round of the draft.

If that happens, then we are in for a really good year.

Koyack will not get as many catches as Eifert did last year, but his talent will rival Eifert's
Amir Carlisle will become the top offensive weapon
TJ Jones will be a 2nd Rd draft pick
DD will be considered one of the top 10 WRs in the college game.

Robert Woods went in the 2nd round. Love TJ but he's no Robert Woods.

2 different types of receivers
Other than skill set im not sure how different the two are? Close to same height and weight, both have a quick first step.

I hate to say it because I love tj and by default hate Robert woods, but woods is a far better receiver and nfl prospect than TJ. Sorry

For some reason I thought Woods was 6'2" or 6'3", I was definitely wrong. When I watch TJ, I don't see Woods. I see a Markus Wheaton. Someone that is a great short to mid-range receiver and runs crisp routes

Wheaton is an absolute burner though, legit 4.4 speed.

TJ IMO is going to find a spot on an NFL roster, and the team that gets him will be very happy that they did. What he is not is a 2nd round draft prospect.
