Because we've missed you Beau. We've missed you and are trying to grab your attention.

I see...

Well here you are then, this is certainly Fireside Chat worthy...our season ended long ago, but my junior high team managed to go undefeated this year, a perfect 10-0 record (a shit ton of games for a junior high squad, right?). Anyways, it was amazing. Last game of the season we won on a jet sweep pass with less than a minute to go. Throughout the season me defense played very, very well. Nobody could run on us. For a 1A junior high school, we had a load of talented players and great kids. We only had 10 8th graders (we play as a combined team), but they were all fantastic.

After an undefeated season, my career as a head coach only goes down hill from here!

Congrats man. I miss my middle school ball days. On my team, we had a freaky fast kid so the first play of every game would be a PA go for him. We scored on the first play of the game 6/9 times that season. It was awesome. Teach those kids right Beau.

Because there is a lot of speculation going around......

Glad the ND recruiting guy has the scoop on a B-list actor's death.

A statement so outrageous that Beau deserves to be shunned for all IE awards.

Happy Holidays and Blessings to Everybody.

* well, I TRIED to use italics for sentence one, but.... Leprechauns again.

Old Man Mike actually made a facetious comment. I am so glad I checked this thread. OMM, dshans, and Beau three absolute reasons this site is one of my favorite places to visit! Oh that comment was from a year ago!

Happy Holidays to you all anyway!

Color me embarrassed. I thought this was a thread for random rubbers ...

The French have a saying, the more things change, the more they remain the same.

(Always rub in the same direction, Sir Richard!)

Three years without a post. Perhaps time to change that.

This year has been a doozy. First, I received a teaching position at the school I have been coaching at for the past 6 years which is truly unbelievable. I graduated with a degree in history and opted out of the teaching degree for the time because of how long it would take me. Friends of my mine were shocked I got a job so quickly, but it just goes to show that dedicating yourself to a place can pay off.

Since getting the job, I also went and made a purchase on a house which I just closed on this week. It's gorgeous and although my wallet might be hating me right now, I love it.

In football season, my junior high team went undefeated and winning every game by double digits. We even went out of our way to schedule bigger, tougher opponents for this year's team including some a couple of schools who are in a higher classification than us and ranked in the top ten of the state. We played both those teams on the road, and we showed that this will be the team to beat in 3-4 years.

Now, the high school group, lead by a group of seniors who were the first 7th graders that I coached and who were my last group to go undefeated in their 8th grade year, have gotten over the sectional championship hump, getting the school its first ever sectional championship. (The school has had varsity football for less than a decade, and we had lost the last two sectional championships in dramatic fashion.) And NOW that team has also completed perhaps the most dramatic comeback in the state tonight to when the regional championship and earn themselves a ticket to go play Jack Kiser and Pioneer.

I cannot express how proud I am of these guys, especially the seniors. To watch young men grow up in front of your very eyes and fill out the potential that you saw in them at a young age is something incredibly special. These boys are back in the film room again this morning because although last night was something to celebrate, their eyes are looking forward to next week.

The old ball coach compared us to Secretariat. Secretariat had an enlarged heart, the heart of a champion, and so do we. It showed last night. Now, also like Secretariat, we can not look back. We can only look forward.

High Standards, No Excuses

Just before noon the horse was led haltingly into a van next to the stallion barn, and there a concentrated barbiturate was injected into his jugular. Forty-five seconds later there was a crash as the stallion collapsed. His body was trucked immediately to Lexington, Kentucky, where Dr. Thomas Swerczek, a professor of veterinary science at the University of Kentucky, performed the necropsy. All of the horse's vital organs were normal in size except for the heart.

''We were all shocked,'' Swerczek said. ''I've seen and done thousands of autopsies on horses, and nothing I'd ever seen compared to it. The heart of the average horse weighs about nine pounds. This was almost twice the average size, and a third larger than any equine heart I'd ever seen. And it wasn't pathologically enlarged. All the chambers and the valves were normal. It was just larger. I think it told us why he was able to do what he did.''

Secretariat ran flat into legend, started running right out of the gate and never stopped, ran poor Sham into defeat around the first turn and down the backstretch and sprinted clear, opening two lengths, four, then five. He dashed to the three-quarter pole in 1:0945, the fastest six-furlong clocking in Belmont history. I dropped my head and cursed Turcotte: What is he thinking about? Has he lost his mind? The colt raced into the far turn, opening seven lengths past the half-mile pole. The timer flashed his astonishing mile mark: 1:3415!

I was seeing it but not believing it. Secretariat was still sprinting. The four horses behind him disappeared. He opened 10. Then 12. Halfway around the turn, he was 14 in front . . . 15 . . . 16 . . . 17. Belmont Park began to shake. The whole place was on its feet. Turning for home, Secretariat was 20 in front, having run the mile and a quarter in 1:59 flat, faster than his Derby time.

He came home alone. He opened his lead to 25 . . . 26 . . . 27 . . . 28. As rhythmic as a rocking horse, he never missed a beat. I remember seeing Turcotte look over to the timer, and I looked over too. It was blinking 2:19, 2:20. The record was 2:2635. Turcotte scrubbed on the colt, opening 30 lengths, finally 31. The clock flashed crazily: 2:22 . . . 2:23. The place was ) one long, deafening roar. The colt seemed to dive for the finish, snipping it clean at 2:24.

I've had a little of that inner joy you refer to Beau with my Environmental Studies majors, watching them grow from kids to talented self-assured adults across the four years of the major. Not every kid is a success, that's true, but every kid is a person worth investing some of yourself into.

God Bless You, Coach (and Teacher.)

Secretariat was unbelievable. We may never see a horse like that again. Not only did he dominate the Triple Crown, but he shattered records at all three races.

I'll root for Monroe Central this week. Go Golden Bears!

Bumping my old thread because I'm not sure I've updated my friends here on our corner of the internet, but I will be marrying a wonderful woman in just 18 days. I am saving the words for my excitement for her on our special day but just know that I am happy(!), and I'll be glad when the wedding process is over! She has stressed so much about this that it has even gotten to me, and I'm usually cool like a cucumber.

We are going to have one heck of a wedding and reception with all our friends and family, all of whom know how to throw back the drinks pretty well. So if you're sitting around looking for a reason to drink on the 17th, know that your buddy Beau has given you one. And if I disappear for a week or so, you now know why. We should be going to the Dominican Republic *fingers crossed* for the honeymoon the week following the wedding -- all-inclusive couples-only resort. I think our only travel guideline is getting tested before we return, but I am not overly concerned as we're both vaxxed. But wish us luck! I don't want to get stranded down there although there may be far worse places to have to be.

This thread is a like a time-capsule. Probably best that the Kate v. Alyssa thread got nuked, but it would surely be amusing to read if it were still around.

Was Beau in a triangle once upon a time?

Not sure but he did win Hottest WAG in the IE awards back in the day. Beat out my now lovely wife. Older me questions why younger me chose to participate in that very silly contest.

Older me now looks back and thinks you won. My soon to be wife is not the same gal as the one who won...and we were quite young back then ya stinking pervs. lol

EDIT: Guess I should mention that my new lady would win it in a clean sweep over the whole lot of you. ;)

I won't tell you where other than a tiny town in Southern Indiana, near the Ohio border, who will see their population double on that particular day. If you can find me from that, then crash away. hahahah

Did you ever see the reddit/4chan types who used sounds, stars, etc. to locate Shia LeBouf(sp?)'s anti-Trump flag? You have given us far too much information.
