And I agree with it as far as it goes. I marvel at all the fights back and forth on these issues. Of course if it were all that simple, the founding fathers, who were perfect by all accounts, would not have set up such a healthy judiciary, would they?

Funny how he was so popular for so long, among circles, until everyone found out what he really stood for, complete with his wife. Abigail Adams was one of the most brilliant minds of all times. She predicted the Civil War would break out over slavery in the 1880's not the 1960's, I believe. We are coming up on the 150th anniversary of what is undoubtedly among the greatest spoken words in American History. I will put this in three places, one here:

THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS:​

Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.

As someone mentioned, First Amendment protections don't apply to a private forum.

For what it's worth, here's my view:

I think Lax has long ago established his bona fides and, in this case, he operated in good faith, both because the substance was sensitive and because, apparently, a lot of people objected to the comment. So this isn't about him.

I do think on the substance that it was a quick trigger, mostly because Kuej clearly meant it as a compliment (I know, race is the third rail, so tread lightly) and also because I don't think Kuej is a mean-spirited guy with any record of insensitive or near-racist behavior (correct me if I am wrong about that). I would have warned him to avoid such stereotypes, even if he meant it as a compliment.

I would guess, but don't know, that some of the people who complained have an ax to grind against Kuej, because he is outspoken and has made strong, sometimes sort of crazy, and negative, statements. And so they complained against him, but wouldn't have if the same comment came from someone they liked. But that's hunch, because obviously I have no idea who complained.

Anyway, that's my opinion. The punishment wasn't egregious, and it's within the reasonable range, assuming this a clearly understood policy and fairly applied, but I probably wouldn't have done it.

And there's a strong chance that the same will happen to you? Hmmm. Well, I suppose my joke was misguided in retrospect. This is, well, certainly a bit uncomfortable. I feel pretty bad about all this. Would you feel better if you told some jokes about my Mama? She's alive and perfectly healthy. I feel it's the least I can offer you. No? OK, well, I understand. No hard feelings, right? I'll see you later.

Has anyone ever considered the user name Brian Kelly and posted like Brian Kelly would, say during the 2011 USF game? It would be pretty funny to hear that Brian Kelly's responses to the posts in the ND Oversold on Brian Kelly thread. Just kind of thinking out loud.

Good idea. Or better yet, pick up the old (current?) Reader's Digest regular feature and twist it: "I Am Brian Kelly's Pancreas." or "I Am Brian Kelly's Liver."

My mom's been dead for only 6 months, and it was really sudden, really traumatic and I still have nightmares about it.

That said, I laughed really hard at all those "yo mama" jokes.

It's all about the sense of humor!

As a follow-up, it was obvious that he wasn't what he said he was because no person in that position would publicize all that "information."

So what happened? Was he just making up the info that he claimed to have?

I'll leave it up to the investigators as to whether we get into all the details but I will just say he does know someone on the team...that is about as far as it goes.
