Calling him a "troll" may be convenient for the banning narrative, but there's a difference between voicing opinions abrasively, and sometimes without tact, on the one hand, and posting for the sole purpose of inflaming emotions (i.e., "trolling"). He did the former, not the latter. So ban him if you want, but he decidedly was not "trolling".

You're entitled to your opinion. I don't think most of his posts on social issues were necessarily trolling... many of them could've been authentic. So "entirety" is probably the wrong word. None of those posts had anything to do with why he was banned, and as I've said before (and as it is evidenced in those threads) he and I far more often than not had similar views.

When it came to football posting, 90%+ of his posting was trolling or otherwise intentionally inflammatory just to elicit a response. I already listed many recent examples of this garbage in post #694, and many others picked up on his MO as they've given anecdotal examples throughout this thread. If you actually think he was being "authentic" and not just trolling for reactions, then you weren't paying close enough attention.

I'm with Old Man Mike. I actually stopped going to threads where he had a huge presence. It's up to the administrators of the site to decide if that's a good or bad thing. That said, I think he's probably an okay guy and we'd likely argue over beers over nearly everything.

I think the site is better with Pat, just me, and the ignore feature is user friendly…... but I also have been a mod and have also seen other 'regs' be banned that I thought were complete disasters the site could do without,... all while others cried about how that particular reg shouldn't have been banned... so it is what it is...

I didn't dislike Pat as much as the rest. But after reading this, I fall into the same category. When there was a thread where his presence was heavy and every other post in the thread was an angry one from him, I avoided it.
