Bang Bang Notre Dame Gang - No New Recruits

I'm Larry Small, let me just say I had made a twitter literally two or three days before someone contacted me via direct message telling me to knock it off. I was under the impression that tweeting at recruits was more helpful than positive. Then I realized how wrong I was and that someone like me has no place in tweeting or talking to recruits outside my job. I work for Chatsports, its an up-and-coming website, and my bosses wanted original content. So I thought it'd be interesting to interview ND targets. I want to make it clear, I never expressed an ND bias. I asked very simple questions and the articles were really non-informative hype. I wrote this articles to make recruits sound good so they'd like chatsports and would do interviews in the future when there was actual news to report. I can be better as a writer.... Anyway, I contacted Greg Ladky at Rivals, looking for a job with Irish Illustrated. He said he'd pass my message onto II. I exaggerated that I was going through a screening process.

After this guy on twitter contacted me, he showed me the error of my ways. I've since deleted all of my tweets and convinced Grubl to stop tweeting at recruits. Compliance didn't get involved. In fact, you guy's put an end to his tweeting. I showed him this thread and four minutes later he put on Facebook that he's no longer going to tweet at recruits.

I'm never going to contact recruits again outside of as a reporter for Chatsports. Chatsports isn't really a fan board so to speak; it collects news from local, regional and national media and then produces its own content for readers. I hope to move to a more legitimate website, but I realize its not going to happen anytime soon.

I was a fool and I'm sorry. I truly didn't mean to hurt ND. I love Notre Dame. I don't think I created a negative impact.

I've left Bang Bang and will try to convince the admins it should be shut down.

1) Thanks for handling this well. Speaks volumes dude.
2) I will admit that I acted like an *** in what I posted about the group. I was wrong and I apologize. The group is fine as it is: a bunch of overzealous ND fans. But last recruiting cycle in that group was a mess because recruits were in there. This year they're not involved (and shouldn't be) and it's cool.
4) Stick around and post here. If you love ND so much to tone it down slightly, you'll fit in here.
5) As last cycle has shown all of us, it's best to let recruits do their thing. Being supportive of the coaching staff and the team is the best recruiting we can do.

Thanks dboe34, if I'm lucky enough to get any inside info I'll pass it on. Rack Em, you were right to be outraged at the group. I never realized how bad it was until the guy talked to me on twitter. Then I realized how ridiculous I was haha. I wasn't a part of the board for the Darby episode, but I was there for the Deontay Greenberry.. that was wild. Anyway, thanks for being accepting guys.

Personally, I just didnt want your articles/tweets to get mis-understood or use the wrong wording in the articles and have it comeback and bite ND/recruit in the ***. I definitely tried to comment on this last night and then my internet went AWOL. I'm glad compliance didn't get involved though. Almost crazy to think what we said in this thread actually helped put an end to this. Way to be a man and own up to it though Smalls.
