And the NCAA will get to this right after they finish w the U? The $EC is a ce$$pool and I would like nothing more than to see one of their member institutions burn, but I won't hold my breath.

Love this piece from the story "McNeil recalls having a difficult day at practice in 2007 and then-defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, calling him into his office. “I had no clue what it was about because I’d never directly asked him for anything,” says McNeil. “He slid about $400 over to me. He went into a drawer and gave me money and said, ‘Is this enough? Is this good?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m good.’” Muschamp, now the head football coach at the University of Florida, denied the payment through a spokesperson."

In police statements, Goodwin admitted to holding a BB gun by his side. In Goodwin’s trial, testimony from witnesses including Dyer reveal a night of spice and plotting by Mosley to “hit a lick” (rob someone) with Kitchens and Goodwin in the room. At no point did anyone describe McNeil in the room as a knowing party to an armed robbery. In his statement to police, McNeil, who says he was never read his Miranda rights, is the only one of the accused to not to have provided written acknowledgement of his rights. He stated to police that he believed he left his house to go with Mosley, Kitchens and Goodwin to get something to eat. “Dakota said he wanted to drive to see if a friend of his was home,” Mike stated. “Dakota told me that his friend had some money and that he was going to get the money.” McNeil said he realized Goodwin went into the trailer with a “fake gun” and, after a few minutes, went inside the trailer with a black T-shirt over his face and saw “Antonio was holding a gun down by his side” and told Kitchens to “come on.”

Uhhh... What?

They also try to make McNeil out to be this squeaky clean guy that was completely misrepresented in the media but that doesn't seem to be the case either...

I had B work but I missed too many classes; and I went to the instructor and said, ‘I really need this grade,’” says McNeil. “He said that he was sorry but he wouldn’t change it. I went to the person over him. She was in a position of power and backed up the instructor. I then told my counselor with the athletic department.” Within days, McNeil says, the grade was changed from an F to a C and he did not miss a game.

McNeil recalls having a difficult day at practice in 2007 and then-defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, calling him into his office. “I had no clue what it was about because I’d never directly asked him for anything,” says McNeil. “He slid about $400 over to me. He went into a drawer and gave me money and said, ‘Is this enough? Is this good?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m good.’” Muschamp, now the head football coach at the University of Florida, denied the payment through a spokesperson.

Also if there was "no motive" for committing this robbery because he had plenty of money, why was he knowingly violating NCAA rules by taking money from Muschamp? Before someone tells me something like, "well if someone offered you $400 you would take it..." I think you should realize that the article represents McNeil as a Christian and a great father and teammate. So I'm not going to sit here and accept that while reading the other and not find a problem. If anything I think that admitting to taking $400 that he knew was against the rules only further emphasizes the fact that he is willing to break the rules especially IF he really didn't have a money problem (which the article claims).

Wonder if this will impact Muschamp at all. I wouldn't hate to see him burn if he's guilty.

Ok have to ask. Keep in mind I can't read it so I don't know the whole story. But all I've seen is one guy who's up for robbery telling stories about his old team being corrupt. Is there any other evidence or are there witnesses to back up this guy's story?

I love it though, Auburn supposedly cheats and loses in a conference known for shady goings on… Yet Bama is the king of king’s there now and it is all because of a good weight training program… I’ll buy that and the bridge please.

I don't care about Auburn enough to read that long article. Whatever it is, they are guilty.

tl;dr version pro favor

Hopefully no one else is doing one as I type this.

McNeil and three others armed rob a drug house. McNeil didn't know what was going on but entered the house anyway. While he was in jail Chizik tried to 'manage' the situation and the police talked to Chizik b4 the parents. Chizik kicked all 4 off team that day. McNeil awaits trial for 21 to life still and this all happened in 2010.

Then there are multiple stories of cash offerings by the coaches. One by Chizik to a junior going to the NFL to stay. One by Muschamp to McNeil early in his career to keep him happy. Another was a $500 payment to McNeil to show Dre Kirkpatrick a 'good time.

If there's anymore someone fill it in. I read it like 3 hours ago

Edit: McNeil also had an F changed to a C by someone in the athletic dept after his professor and academic advisor said they couldn't change it.

How amusing would it be if Alabama, Auburn, Florida, probably LSU, Georgia, and others got the hammer? If I saw the headline "New SEC conference retains only football eligible member, Vanderbuilt," I don't think I'd stop laughing. It would never happen, but if more players spoke out the ball could get rolling.

What's Roopstigo?

It's an online journalism startup. The writer of this piece - Selena Roberts - is fairly big-time. Former SI writer and New York Times columnist. And she clearly did a lot of legwork.

That said, this is kind of a weird story, lots of it from the perspective of the kid who's charged, painting him in a very positive light, and right before his trial. Apparently his lawyer withdrew from the case today - wasn't clear if it was linked to this story coming out or not - and at least one of the players quoted posted on Twitter today that he never talked to the reporter or was misquoted or something.

Stay tuned.

I have to agree that this is my favorite part. If true no way around it, straight dirt bag

I think we all expected something likes this to eventually happen to Auburn. Just took longer than expected.

There are a lot of ex-Auburn football players, those that the coaching staff supposedly blacklisted, that are pivotal in all this. Their stories back up what McNeil has said, and there should be residue of the coaches bad references with the NFL teams.

After all the allegations of paid players, ped’s, and book scams in the SEC I don’t see how this just gets swept under the rug. I think the NCAA has to act on this or there media and other schools throughout the country will be all over the NCAA. Have said this before and have no problem repeating myself, “where there’s smoke there’s fire” things in the SEC are too good to be true.
