In 1993 Auburn wasn't even eligible for post-season play as they were under sanctions. Didn't even win their own conference. And they're going to claim a national title. Wow.

Following Alabama mathematics, ND would be 22, I believe. That would be including any year that any selector voted/ranked them number one, including pre-bowl game.

ND only claims 11 as I think those are our AP titles and an extra 3 years where we won a majority of the national titles in the pre-AP days, if I recall. We could technically claim 13 championships as the NCAA recognizes us as champions of the 1919 and 1964 seasons, even though we don't acknowledge them. If we claimed titles based on any poll voting us as champion (Like some schools do), we could add another 9 championships to the 13 to give us 22 I think.

But that's the same thing Bama did when claiming their five questionable titles from pre World War II. Seems more like splitting hairs to me.

Not really. We don't claim them. If we claimed them, then it would be splitting hairs. We only claim unanomous titles. If we used the same method as Bama, we would have 22 titles.

I'm especially fond of the 1973 Bama Title, where they were beat by an undefeated Notre Dame team that finished #1 in every poll but the coaches poll. Bama proceeded to lose to Texas in their bowl game. haha
