i was expecting something much dirtier than that. he elevated for the hit, but the recipient is much larger than him. i didn't notice any contact to the head, so i'm confused why he crumpled so strangely on his way to the ground. weird.

I will show this to my son and the first thing he will say is "Didn't wrap up!". Monster hit for a spring game. Someone needs to talk to that WR.

I watched without any sound, but it looks like he may have used his forearm/elbow to deliver a blow to the upper body of the receiver(didnt see any helmet to helmet)....it didnt look too bad, but it is a spring game, against your own teammates...maybe the coaches were sending a message by sending him off

Wow...what a joke! I saw NO helmet-to-helmet contact on that play...if that's going to get cats ejected this year, teams WILL be missing key players in key games because of hits like this.

Just the headline is funny enough. I'm not clicking on the video because I don't want to ruin the hilarity of the headline.

That's how it is these days, especially in the NFL. If it looks to be a hard hit, there will probably be a penalty. You can thank douchebag Roger Goodell for this great rule

a forearm to the other guys shoulder hit...and he gets a 15 yd pentalty and an ejection?

gonna be tons of "flopping" out there this year if that hit is a 15 yd penalty and an ejection.

NCAA football and the NFL will turn into European league soccer with flops all over the place if thats what we have in store.

Regardless of whether it was at the head or not, he blasted his own guy then didn't have the decency to go check if he was alright.

The whole training staff is out there while the dude is writhing -> motionless on the ground, and doucher goes right back to the sideline.

Stay classy Auburn.

Yeah, looking at it a few times I don't know if I have near as much issue with teh play itself as what he did after...

No there wasn't a helmet to helmet but he definitely aimed his shoulder at his teammate's head and threw his forearm. Then he didn't even check on his own f'ing teammate. What a little bitch.

SMDH.

We should learn from the injuries and issues of the past. I bet a lot of these so called men you are talking about are currently suing the NFL over head injuries. :sigh:

This is a serious problem that's going around.

I completely understand this notion in pro sports. You have signed on for a career that pays you to take risks and give up your body. Guys are going to come to knock you out of the game, even in (and sometimes especially) training camp. It's part of what you get the check for... man up or pick another profession I completely agree.

However, a lot of us have forgotten or have chosen to dismiss the fact that this is a college sport. These kids are supposed to be going to school and playing a sport is how they got the opportunity for a scholarship.

Many have become so callused that we say "oh, these kids should get paid.. they don't want to go to school any way, they're not in it for the degree... it's just the minor leagues."

With that attitude, the danger has gotten higher and the level of academic expectations have gone down... and most people have absolutely no problem with it. I do.

If your university isn't making their degree a sufficient enough reason to go to school there, the entire system has failed. It's why I'm an ND fan. I'm not Catholic, not even a religious man, but I fell in love with the magic and promise of Notre Dame.

I hate that some people just write off the SEC's academics as a joke that can't be addressed because "that's the way it is." Bullshit. We're asking these kids to play an incredible dangerous sport that most of them won't make into a professional career. Make the damn degree count... if you can't cut it academically, too bad, try harder. It wouldn't take very long to make a serious change if we tried.

Sorry about the rant. I get so angry when people conflate pros and college kids.

agree...guy beats a block, puts a shoulder into the receiver...happened at full speed. In terms of his intent...I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

But not taking a knee by him, and apologizing...that kid needs a lecture about class.

I hope we don't see alot that kinda crap out of the new "Gus" Auburn.

I keep watching this over and over. He was in the process of launching himself at the receiver...his teammate. Why not wrap him up? Why not lower your shoulder and hit him in the pads? The more I see this the more I'm convinced that it was absolutely a cheap shot.

Why not sign up for ballet instead of football? I agree it was a douche move to KO your team mate, but I have no issue with the hit.

As for the student before athlete line of thinking if that was the case then Oklahoma would be suspended from playing football with its 47% grad rate for the football team.
You want to be the best, you have to beat the best. And to beat the best you have lie down with that dirty dog with fleas. Sometimes you are going to some on you.

That is the underbelly of D1A football.

Maybe that's a good idea since so many former players have brain damage and/or are dead. Say what you want about it being macho, but head shots are slowly killing the players. There's no reason this dumbass had to hit his teammate in the head. A hit to the chest would have done the trick.

In looking at the play, he initially left the area of the downed teammate to give chase to the loose ball. It then looks like he came over to the sidelines and went right to a coach, which makes me wonder if he wasn't called over to the sidelines. By the time he was done talking to the coach, he had been ejected, and was no longer allowed on the field. I'm not saying that he couldn't have shown more concern, but I'm also not sure that his behavior was as callous as some people think.

your making this a "helmet to helmet hit/concussion" issue.

the hit was a forearm to the shoulder. my comment addressed that.

i know what your saying and i agree the "helmet to helmet guys tackling/launching with their heads" is a serious issue.

....but that has nothing to do with the hit we (and I ) were discussing.
