I’m not sure I want a NY6 this season,… my mind sees us squeak in and instead of rightfully getting the lowest matchup we get someone like Bama in a Southern bowl game and Saban gets time to prepare for Pyne,…. I’ll take one of the other bowls thank you very much

Does Saban actually need time to prepare for Pyne?

30 seconds into film review...."Yeah we'll be fine".

There was actually a tweet a few weeks back that had a tidbit from his radio show where he gave his rundown of a typical practice week and film study. It was actually pretty incredible. There's no way I'd be willing to put in that much time and just proves why he's the GOAT.

In regards to the question....if Navy could man us up and get home blitzing, we'd need a shit ton of lube if we played Bama.

If Bama is outside of the playoffs or even NY6 how many players sit out? That would be NDs only chance. Bryce Young ain’t got time for that…

Notre Dame vs LSU
... that is all.
Not sure I'd want that, BK knows this roster up and down and would have the upper hand here schematically, IMO.

Give it a couple of years before we seek out/wish for that match up, at least personally.

I think it depends on the bowl. If it’s a shit tier bowl, BK could win.

If it’s a big one, we would bust out a can of whoop ass on him as he turtles on the sidelines for 3.5 hours.

*If this hurts your feelings, it’s just a statement of fact based on evidence

BK is 0-4 in BCS/NY6 games. I know “but they always played the best teams” is valid, BUT

BK is 1-3 against the spread in those 4 games. His teams have clearly underperformed in big games, case closed.

Yeah but ND as a whole hasn't won a BCS/NY6 in 28 years which is a streak that precedes BK. Though your point is valid; something would have to give in that scenario.

If ND gets into the NY6 then by far the most likely opponent is a G5 team. OTOH, if they miss the NY6 there is a good chance they end up in the Gator Bowl against Alabama because Tennessee, UGA, and LSU might all be headed to NY6 games.
Thought I read that, b/c the way the CFP falls this year, Cotton Bowl vs. the G5 is basically the only NY6 option for us.

Usually there are at-large spots in the Peach and Fiesta but they’re the CFP games.
Rose and Sugar have conference tie-ins.
Orange has an at-large but wouldn’t want to set up a rematch between us and the ACC champ.
So that leaves one slot in the Cotton. And we’d have to be ranked higher than various teams currently ahead of us.

Seems unlikely. It’s too bad b/c even this year we should beat, I dunno, Tulane, even without Mayer. But far more likely we land in a second-tier bowl.

If all this is true wouldn't Bama look like the most likely program for that Cotton vs a G5?? Or are they tied into another bowl due to conference tie ins?? I'm honestly unsure.

It all depends, of course. If Alabama wins out they are going to be in an NY6, yeah.

The other open(ish) spot is the Orange Bowl which, IIRC, takes the highest rated of the B1G (after the Rose is filled), the SEC (after the Sugar is filled) or ND. I think it's likely to be an SEC team in the Orange.

Honestly, as disappointing a reality this likely is, this is still a welcomed outcome to the season after how we were all feeling on the evening of September 10.

Great work by the staff to right the ship this year and if things continue to progress, we can have a very optimistic outlook this offseason.

If we beat the #5 team in the country on the road, we'll be in the top 10.
Yep. Two top 10 wins in a single month, that'll help get rid of the memory oft he Marshall and Stanford games and *might* get us a NY6 bid.

Either way I think we should have an intruiging bowl game. Last I saw was maybe Arkansas in the Gator, that would be the first meeting between the schools.

Just looked at Penn St's schedule. WoW!! what a f'ing joke there schedule is and the fact they're ranked above us is ridiculous. Literally we lost to Marshall that's why we're getting shit on. Hell anybody that thinks Penn St is better than us right now is on drugs.

and it would be the second #5 team we've defeated. Couple that with UNC at #14? and BYU (ranked at the time) and Syracuse (ranked at the time but not that impressive). We have a hell of a resume if we can discard 2 painful losses that never should've been.

This team is stacked with a limited QB. Love the heart of this team and they've clawed their way back into the rankings.

In fairness, SU lost Shrader at QB and he had been pretty darn good for them.

Similar with NC State and Leary. Both of those ACC teams looks "meh" but they're much different teams now than they were in October due to attrition.

I know there’s plenty of Swinney haters on here…he’s not the point. Could be any P5 coach saying this. It’s gold. College ball > NFL all day long.

Still don't understand any meaning in this as written. I grew up in little ol' West Virginia and we had definite rivals all over. My Dad grew up in big ol' Chicago and he had definite rivals all over. ???? Was this just a stupid interviewer?

Little irked by the #15 ranking with Utah and KSU ahead of us, I think the AP poll got it right. But if we beat $C that will take care of itself.
