An issue I had with that scene, if such a thing can be done, why wasn't that the plan to begin with? At least three ships before hers just allowed themselves to run out of fuel and get blown up. Why not turn them around and take the dreadnought out if you're going to get blown up anyway? Further, it didn't seem like that was the plan with the big ship anyway. It was presented as a spur of the moment decision only after the transports started getting picked off. If you know that your going to die regardless, why not plan the kamakazi run to begin with?

Right. It makes literally no sense.

The more I've thought about it, the whole movie is shit. It might even be worse than Phantom Menace.

It really might be.

Kamikaze spaceships break the Star Wars universe and basically invalidate all decisions in the OT. Stupid, shitty movie.

Exactly. You would take one of those cigar-shaped troop transports, empty it out, plug a kamikazee robot into the central computer, and shoot it at any big, capital-sized ship, including the Death Star.

It would make Star Destroyers instantly obsolete.

Another is space cell phones, like the one they used to call Maz. "Holla back at me Ben Kenobi, you're our only hope. 555-222-7776."

The difference is the "movie sin" count. No movie is perfect, and Star Wars is fantasy after all.

It took me out of the universe immersion as many times as any of the prequels did.

This is exactly it.

I’m with you. I will take any prequel over this mess. For all their warts, they always felt like Star Wars. Yeah the dialogue sucked ass. Yes, jar jar is an awful charachter. But this garbage just feels like bad fan fic from another universe with star wars charachters slapped on, and done shoddily at every turn.

That's what I thought when I came out too. The prequels were so terribly executed, but the stories were generally fine, and could have been 1000x more interesting just with any one other than GL given a chance to clean up the dialogue, direction, and editing. There were tons of cringe-worthy moments, but the only truly regrettable part from the story was the midichlorian debacle (and that could have easily been written out as the theory of one school of Jedi, which included most on the Jedi Coucil at that time).

What they needed was George Lucas in the background, and a guy like RJ actually executing the vision. That's what made SW so good. GL has veto authority and loomed over the whole production, but the more serious movie guys increased the quality dramatically.

I hope for three things:

Han makes the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs,
they address how Han and Chewie hook up (life debt)
and
how Han wins the Falcon from Lando (beating him at Sabbacc).

I always imagined the Kessel run being referenced in parsecs truly WAS a measurement of distance...

Like, an amateur pilot has to navigate a complicated route that has several avenues, and the safest way requires more turns and diversions around space obstacles, whereas the most skilled pilots can take much shorter, but much more dangerous routes on the run.

The shorter the distance through the run and its obstacles, the more obvious it is that you're a badass.

I'm guessing they confirm that Boba Fett will be in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

I always thought it inadvertently worked as Han Solo blowing smoke, but not really understanding the technical details.

Yes, but it's more about your ship's capabilities than your manual piloting skills. The Falcon's navicomputer is second-to-none.

I wish he could do a voice closer to Harrison Ford's, but I'm nitpicking. I got pretty jacked when the SuperBowl spot came on.

I love everything about this except for the actor. The aliens, costumes, props, set design, etc. are fire.

We haven't invented vocal-cord customization yet? What are we even doing as a species?

Now I'm not sure that you got the reference...

Uggggggh it looks like it’s going to be bad.

Yeah, didn't inspire confidence in me either... though if I remember Rogue One trailer looked bad too and I really liked that movie... so we'll see.

Would that it were so simple

I agree that the look everything is kind of cool, but I also agree that it did not inspire confidence. I like the actor, but I don't see him as Han Solo. He doesn't seem to have the physical presence.

I guess we'll see. This may be Disney's last chance for me.

They had a lot of good will with me after Rogue One. Amazing set pieces, convincing villains, etc.

The Last Jedi got me all slanty eyed, but in the back of my head I'm thinking "well, JJ Abrams can save it again... maybe."

The Han Solo movie should be impossible to screw up... but I do not like how the actor talks, much less looks. Seems too aloof.

That’s pretty much how I see it.

But I do have a problem with his height. Solo’s build was part of his character and the way he carried himself. They even played up the height difference with Luke. There are plenty of smaller action hero’s who are great—Luke Skywalker for one—but Han is not one of them.

Also, is the actor young enough for the role?

Turns out Alden is 28. I would've thought he was older
