Harbaugh allegedly lied to NCAA investigators. Could be facing a suspension. That's probably the harshest punishment they'll get.
It's sad when bad things happen to good people.

Shit if that happened to BK he'd spend an extra long weekend in Hawaii on the courseIt's the NCAA. Harbaugh to miss a couple of spring practices sounds about right.
Definitely not at PSU.Sleepovers aren't allowed I guess.
Except that it HAS happened to ND repeatedlyI get the sentiment, but this is the same sort of injustice that we catch from time to time. Can't cheer for it lest we tempt fate.

Without toilet paper as well.Clogged toilets for a year sounds like a good punishment.
I realize you are joking.Definitely sounds like it warrants the death penalty. SMU these sumabitches.
That was a jurisdictional issue, though. That form of criminal behavior isn't in the NCAA's grant of authority. PSU essentially volunteered to not fight the punishment, and had the back end of the punishment wiped out when some state legislators (I think) filed suit.I realize you are joking.
But just saying this to say it: if Pedo State didn’t get the death penalty, no one is ever getting the death penalty ever again,
This seems analogous to the Ohio State situation with Terrell Pryor, et al. The NCAA will probably look to punish Harbaugh personally.Unless the NCAA brings down the hammer on Michigan with lots of scholarship reductions, I hope it's very light. The only thing keeping Michigan from doing well on the recruiting trail besides Harbaugh's soirees with the NFL is the fact they are completely coloring in the lines when it comes to NIL moreso than even ND and following the NCAA guidance. If that were to change they could easily ride the momentum of the last two years + inducements and get top 5 classes. Would truly hate to see that more than anything.
I can't believe I want Michigan to get off easy, but that's what CFB in 2023 has come to.
I get all that. Ethically, the NCAA had a duty to find a way to DP them anyway, imo. 🤷♂️That was a jurisdictional issue, though. That form of criminal behavior isn't in the NCAA's grant of authority. How much probably depends on what he actually did. Tressel got a show cause for filing a false affidavit.
I think this is a pretty false statement. Michigan’s recruiting has been fine. They only recently took a dip this past cycle because he was basically gone. They won’t be 17th next cycle.Yep. Harbaugh is a good coach but not really a great recruiter. Since we don't play them, the fact that he's a good coach doesn't actually affect us all that much. But a better/more aggressive recruiter in that job would be a problem.
They’re “fine” in the same way Notre Dame was “fine” under BK. They are roughly what you would expect Michigan to be. Strong on in-state kids. Competitive in Chicagoland. Pipeline to Catholic/private schools in New Jersey and New England.I think this is a pretty false statement. Michigan’s recruiting has been fine. On the 30 for 30 about SMU they talked about how the NCAA didn’t realize how bad it would be for that one year ban, not expecting it to kill the program for 20+ years, & said they would never do it again. That was a jurisdictional issue, though. That form of criminal behavior isn't in the NCAA's grant of authority. It sounds like Harbaugh might face a game or two suspension, which is very unfortunate for scUM considering they play a few juggernauts in ECU, UNLV and Bowling Green, all at home. I have no idea how they can survive that slate without Jimmy boy.If it's not Notre Dame, the NCAA simply doesn't care. Nothing will come of this.

They reportedly spoke, but it wasn't a formal interview; he followed up that conversation with the Panthers' owner saying that he "expects to coach at Michigan." FWIW. If the Colts reach out, I'm sure he'll be very interested.Jim Harbaugh is going to have an NFL job soon enough. Carolina Panthers maybe?
247 ratings for their classes below. Seems very likely that the NFL flirtation has caused the last class to finish low. I still think Harbaugh inking a long-term deal with Michigan with large buyout is much worse than him staying. We want the guy who is 25-3 with two playoff appearances the last two seasons to stay? As others noted, he’s hitting the portal hard as well.Again, the best thing for us is for Harbaugh to stay at Michigan. You all don't understand how lazy he has been this past year and how much he has killed their recruiting of HS players. Michigan effectively signed ZERO players with active ND offers. ND signed multiple guys that Michigan wanted badly and the gap between Freeman & Harbaugh was a factor for many of them.
He is a good coach, but we don't play Michigan. We do recruit against Michigan. A hungrier guy in that role or a better NIL program from Michigan could be a major thorn in ND's side. Right now they are just treading water.
That would be a level 2 violation, which is nothing. You can have those all the time. The Level 1 violation, which is the problem, was for lying or misleading the investigators.Saw something that said the violation was Harbaugh buying two recruits hamburgers. If that true, wtf are we doing here? NCAA can’t find anything better to waste their time with?
What is there to lie about? Did he get caught being cheap and told investigators It was really steak? That would be a level 2 violation, which is nothing. You can have those all the time. The Level 1 violation, which is the problem, was for lying or misleading the investigators.
I haven’t heard the hamburger detail, just that the Michigan staff was contacting recruits during the Covid dead period (Level 2) and Harbaugh lied to investigators about it (Level 1).What is there to lie about? Did he get caught being cheap and told investigators It was really steak?
