Like I said in the JJ thread, McNamara doesn't throw those picks. Somewhere hes grinning.

Joel Klatt, psycho, closet Harbaugh & UM supporter, is on Twitter blaming the Michigan loss on officiating.

He will be on Cowherd soon & both will be claiming Michigan is the real national title winner….

Michigan *easily* could have won the playoff this year. They got a soft first round matchup and they were a strong style matchup against Ohio State (and Ohio State had a solid chance to beat Georgia). The universe dodged a collective bullet here.

For those talking about Harbaugh… we should hope he stays as long as possible. Harbaugh being at Michigan is great for ND recruiting. Put a Mike Hart or some equivalent in that role and we are going to have to fight a LOT harder for Midwest players.

A loss and clogged toilets for hours are the perfect way for them to end their season.

We need Harbaugh to stay. Do not underestimate how much he is tanking their recruiting.
They’ve been in the playoffs two years in a row. The recruiting dip was the flirtation with the NFL. They cleaned up and filled holes with the portal. I could see the recruiting back up. We need the Michigan man to bounce for a mediocre NFL team. Especially this late in the off-season, that would be awesome.

Makes sense.
Their rankings the last 4 years on 247 have been:
2020 - 10 - 2nd big10
2021 - 13 (2 of 11 4stars transferred) - 2nd big10
2022 - 9 - 3rd big10
2023 - 17 - 3rd big10

Also their schedule:
Power 5 OOC 2025/2024 - Oklahoma/Texas
2023 - none
2022 - none - 13-1 CFP fiesta L
2021 - washington - 12-2 CFP orange L
2020 - none - 2-4 no bowl
2019 - ND - 9-4, citrus bowl L
2018 - ND - 10-3, peach bowl L
2017 - Florida - 8-5, outback bowl L
2016 - Colorado - 10-3, orange bowl L
2015 - Utah, Oregon state, BYU - harbaugh arrives - 10-3 citrus bowl W
2014 - ND (37-0), Utah - 5-7 no bowl

Next year with East Carolina, UNLV and bowling green….like this past year with Hawaii, uconn, and Colorado state should pad the wins. Also instead of Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois..in 2023 they draw Purdue, Minnesota, and Nebraska in the last year of the east/west before USC and UCLA come in 2024.

In his first 6 years at scUM, harbaugh averaged 3.66 losses. His first year and bowl win was his last with 6 straight losses for 1-6 overall not including an under 500 hundred year and bowl miss.

They’re recruiting like a 10-15 team but without OOC games it’s been on other big10 teams. He is 5-3 vs Penn state, 2-5 vs Ohio st, 4-4 vs Michigan state.

I think he’s at his peak right now and into next year. Sell high because I could see 2024 and 2025 back towards his average with 3-4 losses.

If he stays, he will be remembered less fondly. Instead of 2 playoff appearances, it could be in 11/12 years going 1-10 in bowls with under 500 vs Ohio st and 50/50 vs Penn st and Michigan state.

I think the trouble, specifically as it relates to recruiting, is that Michigan hits a lot of the same buttons as we do - academics, history/tradition, player development, power football - and goes after a lot of the same sort of kids, especially from the Midwest and Northeast.

I don’t know how many significant players on their roster had serious ND interest, and vice versa, but it’s a lot. They’re probably our #1 recruiting rival except maybe Ohio State.

Right now, with Freeman vs Harbaugh, we’re going to win a lot of those recruiting battles, just through effort and personality, even if Michigan’s record is a little better. But put someone who really wants to recruit in charge there (and give them more NIL?) and it’d be a problem for us. And to the New Englander’s point, if/when Michigan plays a little tougher schedule than the last couple years, their record will come back down to earth.
