I thought Michigan looked like maybe the #5 team in the country after Minnesota. Couldn’t have been more wrong.

Them losing to their “little brother” after getting the hype train rolling makes the embarrassment even more tasty. Thamel said it well with the term, unfounded arrogance. That sums up Hairball and Michigan.

I’d like to tell you how disappointed I was that scUM lost, but my mother taught me never to lie.

Rayshaun Benny, a big scUM target, is now trending to the Spartans https://247sports.com/Player/Rayshaun-Benny-46058238/

And then there's this tweet from a current commit

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="und" dir="ltr">hmm </p>— Andrel Anthony Jr. (@andrel_jr) <a href="https://twitter.com/andrel_jr/status/1323314543209205760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 2, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Oh, AND something weird's going on with one of their assistant coaches, who's on leave with no explanation given. https://247sports.com/college/michi...o-on-field-coaching-Aashon-Larkins-154087517/

I took the coach thing as he likely has cov19... If he did something bad he wouldn't be coaching at all..

I don't think so, this is the 247 reporter in the forums:

This is a story that we've been aware of and have been looking into for some time now. But while we've heard a lot of about what's going on, this isn't the kind of thing you come out and talk about before getting confirmation of the details. That's not just about good journalistic practices. This is also the kind of thing where if we details get it wrong, we could literally be sued.

thanks! i had just assumed if he was still technically coaching it couldn't have been too bad but IF there is some big thing they don't want to get sued for potentially putting something out, then it may be SOMETHING

Just noticed that the 1979 ND @ scUM game is on YouTube. That would’ve been Dan Devine’s 2nd to final season at the helm..

Honestly I'm fine if he leaves. I don't think they get anyone better. I could be wrong, they could hire Fleck and surprisingly kill it, but I think the constant 10 win regular seasons are not likely to be improved upon.

Agreed. Dark days ahead for the skunkbears. Harbaugh was their White Whale hire. They can't do better, so moving on from him will force them into a painful reckoning with their present ceiling. As long as OSU is rolling, UM has no realistic hope for breaking out.

Somebody in the CFB subreddit mentioned that Harbaugh is basically taking Michigan to their post-1940's level. The Schembechler years where they were in the Rose Bowl were roughly comparable in win % and Harbaugh's biggest issue right now is dealing with an absolute buzzsaw in Ohio State, who basically blocks scUM from ever competing for the Big Ten title.

Bo's win percentage: 78.5% * 12 = 9.4

Harbaugh's win percentage: 71.6% * 12 = 8.6

Okay maybe not exactly the same, but similar to Michigan's record from 1960 on: 69.87%

I chose 1960 on because I'm being lazy and using Wikipedia's break ups of the eras. Plus that's when the Big became the Big Ten. My math could be slightly off here but it should be roughly correct.

As Whiskey mentioned, Harbaugh was their White Whale, but not just that, he's their program savior. He's basically what Nebraska is hoping Scott Frost can be: the favorite son returning home to bring the family back to the Promised Land (of Indianapolis). But he's not getting it done. And if they fire Ol' Khaki for basically winning 10 games per year in a program where you're guaranteed to meet one of the top 3 programs in CFB, who will they get? Fleck? Sure. Matt Campbell? Probably. Fickell? Unlikely.

They're probably in a similar sort of situation as ND after the 2016 season: giving up on your head coach in a bad spot for your program, but the only guys willing to come aren't gonna bring any excitement.

Your not going to beat OSU till you make the kind of commitment to football OSU does. I think the trustees know that. Bigger issue is Harbaugh so abrasive it will be hard for the program to maintain their current success.

I don't see JH's abrasiveness as being an issue. MI in general is just not all that attractive anymore. OH in general is not an attractive place for kids, but the state at least is top 10 in terms of recruiting talent and the winning keeps them attractive for out of state kids. OH is the only non-South state besides CA in the top 10. CA is likely only there because of pure population. I'd love to see the talent per capita rating. ND has the Catholic, history, and mystique things going for it at least.

By my calculations our win percentage all time is back up to 0.72890625 now.
After today Michigan falls to 0.7290274684484039. We're very close to overtaking them again...we'd be ahead a bit if the NCAA hadn't taken those 2012 wins away (How do we manage to lose those and Ped State got theirs back? What kind of message does that send?)

Unfortunately Ohio State is now at 0.7298850574712644, so we still have some ground to makeup on them and that may be difficult to do while Ohio State is rolling.

In short, fuck Michigan!

After today's win against Clemson and Michigan's loss to lolIU:

All Time Winning Percentages
ND: 0.7291178766588603
Michigan: 0.728486646884273

ND back to #2!...Behind of course the new #1...
tOSU: 0.7300918836140888

Buckeyes need to return to 80s form...

Any recruits/transfers to steal here?
I want more salt on their wounds.

Their commits with a ND offer are:
RB Tavierre Dunlap
WR Cristian Dixon
WR/DB Andrel Anthony
OL Tristan Bounds
DL Kechaun Bennett
LB Branden Jennings
DB Rod Moore
And our ol friend Greg Crippen

Not a lot of sexy options there besides Jennings who is a FSU legacy and flipped to Harbaugh because “he hates to lose” after watching FSU’s start to the season...who knows if he leaves the south now. I like Bennett too but I’d be surprised if we benefit from any of their fallout in 2021.

In 2022 however it could pay dividends with the greater Chicago guys Brown, Morris, and Cheeks. Hard to tell who they’re really after in that class this early without reading all the tea leaves (and I haven’t). They’re more liberal with their offers. 14 QBs to our 2. Also 35 OL, 19 DT. ND 17 and 5 respectively.

Oh and...

Here’s to hoping Mertz plays without a Covid hangover. His 21st day since first positive is Friday, so while it’s not official, he’s expected to go by beat writers.
