Also, a rumor on the Michigan 247 board that Tarik Black is planning to transfer as well.

Man that would be huge. All jokes aside, I'm very jealous of their projected WR lineup with Peoples-Jones, Nico Collins, and Black. All studs.

Solomon was the kid that about a month before signing day was caught on another recruits Periscope saying F**k Michigan. He apologized and Harbaugh basically overlooked the discretion. Harbaugh probably would've been better off saying "see ya".

Maybe we'll get one of them to transfer to ND. Maybe they realized they wanted to be purified in the waters of Lake Minnetonka

Makes me curious what the underlying cause is, if any? Maybe there's so.e truth to the Harbaught to Packers rumor?

The statement about taking the high road suggests that UM did something or somethings to actively piss them off. I don't think we would get that reaction if this was purely about football.

What the hell is going on with Michigan’s class of 2017? (MaizeNBrew)

Let’s go back two years to 2016, to right around this time actually. Michigan recruiting was in the midst of one of their greatest recruiting stretches in recent history.

Dubbed “Commitmas”, the program landed verbals from seven blue chippers in a just over a two-week span from December 7th to December 23rd. The group included Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cesar Ruiz, Drew Singleton, Ambry Thomas, Jordan Anthony, Tarik Black, and Deron Irving-Bey.

This run provided much of the top end of a class that would finish 5th in the country, with 21 of its 29 members rated as 5 or 4-star prospects.

Fast forward to the present, and eight members of that touted class are now gone. This is in the wake of the news today that former five-star Aubrey Solomon would be transferring, the most impactful departure yet.

While the class has produced several starters and contributors, with plenty of time for more to emerge, it’s safe to say something weird is going on with this class.
"The door is this way."

It's really not surprising at all. First of all, Harbaugh is a sociopath. He did tons of insane crap at Stanford that people forget about... lying about "admissions" as an excuse to push out a recruit that got injured (and was an outstanding HS student), all of the stuff with Richard Sherman, all of the stuff with Doug Baldwin... and the stuff we know about there is only the stuff that high-profile athletes were willing to divulge later on.

With the 49ers, he was hated by a lot of players. Much of the NFL is double speak and a lot of players also had his back, too. But you know he had to be totally batsh*t to have ownership hate him so much that they pushed him out immediately after he got to a Super Bowl... we know that tons of a-hole coaches are tolerate (and even celebrated!) in the NFL, so that lets you know what was going on behind the scenes must have been next level.

Then you get to Michigan, and the first thing he does is start processing players. He starts over-recruiting and pushing kids out of the class around NSD and doesn't catch nearly the amount of crap for it that most coaches do because ESPN loves Harbaugh. The signs are there that he's up to his old tricks (and maybe even worse) but is given a pass because of the immediate "success" on the field and the top rated classes he is signing. Now you're in Year 4 and he hasn't won anything. His act is wearing thin on guys he brought in with big egos that don't like the way the program is being run. I promise you... 100% promise you... that what is precipitating this mass exodus is not some general assholery. I promise you he did something specific that is unethical, or has gone off his rocker again the way past players have described where you go "wow, I cannot deal with this guy." It's also not a surprise that a rumor pops up around the same time of a cadre of Michigan players looking to sit out the bowl game (which the coaching staff might've gotten them to flip back on or we probably would've heard something more on that).

The million dollar question -- which I doubt we ever get an answer to -- is what went down about a week ago that brought all this on.

You thinking he had a tirade against the players sitting out and that rubbed the rest of the guys the wrong way?

It seems pretty obvious processing is occurring. The transfers feel lied to. They were probably promised the world by a snake oil salesman, didnt get it, and are now pissed.

I wouldnt get too excited about any of this until players who are actually relevant start barking about it.

Well Solomon would be in-line for a starting DT position. I'd say that's relevant.

This is priceless--juuust priceless.

Shaky??? Seriously???

3 weeks from now this is water under the bridge and its next man up. As it should be.

What you're witnessing is a dynasty in the making. It can be ugly at times early on--but the process is almost complete. Just a few pieces to be worked out.

Go ahead and roll your eyes--like I did when I saw this. We'll see how it works out from here.

Ahhh, mgoblow....don't ever change.

What's the over/under on how much longer Harbaugh has left? Not saying they're gonna necessarily oust him, but I'm curious how much longer he sits there with his seat hot without deciding to bail.

Spent time on their site tonight and they are lambasting the dude that is questioning whether there is something going on internally with these tweets and transfer news. Can't discuss negative news over there...with out being shot for heresy.

As a Packer hater - this would be glorious.

Dear God, no. As a (extremely frustrated) Packer lover (haha phrasing), this would be my worst nightmare.

Also, when I visited Lambeau back in October, Tailgated with plenty of Packers fans and no one seems interested in the idea of hiring either Harbaugh. I just don't see them firing McCarthy and then bringing in a personality like Jim, or another fading coach like John.

Scholarship situation

Scholarship situation

After taking classes of 28, 27, and 20 in their last three recruiting cycles, Michigan looks like it may end up in the upper 20s for 2019. Last year Michigan sat at 88 scholarships after NSD until the summer, but ended up awarding four walkons scholarships to end up with 85. With attrition due to transfers, Michigan is currently at 80 scholarships including the four walkons. (Three will be RS Seniors and one a RS Junior)

Eleven Seniors run out of eligibility. Gary has declared for the NFL, signed with an agent and is starting his own sports agency. Harbaugh is generally selective for granting fifth year. As a result, Michigan has some graduate transfers.

The following seven underclassmen have decisions to make on declaring for the NFL:
Michigan football: Other underclassmen have NFL draft decisions
I would guess three or four declare.

Starting off, subtracting the twelve Seniors and Gary, the three RS Senior walkons with scholarships and three more underclassmen who declare for the draft which total eighteen scholarships from the eighty total, Michigan starts off with sixty-two for 2019. Currently, they have twenty-five verbal commits, which totals eighty-seven at this point.

RS Seniors who may not be offered a fifth year and who are buried on the depth chart included Nolan Ulizio and Reuben Jones. That would put them at eighty-five currently.

Of course, we may see other underclassmen transfering (the rumor about Black has been noted) - processing due to meritocracy.
