But that means nothing because Michigan is just as good as OSU and Harbaugh is a better coach

Not saying JH is better than Urbie, but outside of the Iowa loss, he did a pretty impressive job this year. Horseshoes and hand grenades, but he came very close to beating Urbie in Ohio. Victories over three top 10 teams isn't bad, no? Hell of lot better job than BK at least.

So they regress a little next year but I'm sure he is anxious to get his recruits in the mix. I don't think they will regress much regardless. I hate Meatchicken but so long as JH is there it will be an OSU and Michigan driven conference with Wisconsin and PSU trying to make noise. IMO

I was comparing him to BK

just goes to show you how amazing this run that Ohio State is on.

They replaced an all-time great coach in their program history in Jim Tressel- who had won a National Title, played for two other National Titles, dominated his rival, and went 7-3 in BCS bowls with an even better coach. That doesn't happen like that. Like ever.

Michigan tailed off towards the end of the Lloyd Carr era and then struggled mightily for almost a decade with a pair of poor hires in Rodriguez and Hoke.

Ohio State went from Jim Tressel to 1 year stop-gap with Fickell and then they got Urban.

Really kind of insane when you think about it. To go from a great coach like Tressel to an even better coach in Meyer- and doing so coming off a scandal which caused the downfall of Tressel- just insane. Insane stroke of luck really.

That stat obviously sounds more dramatic than it is vis-a-vis UM because of playing more games today. If you look at seasons since 1905 with either 1 or 0 losses it looks like this (it's a quick count from Wikipedia, feel free to correct me):

OSU: 36
UM: 29
ND: 42

Still, though, there is no doubt about OSU's recent run of success (18 years of 10+ wins in the 24 seasons since 1993). It has basically mirrored our downfall.

This sport will always come down to the coach.

And they've had 3 pretty good ones in a row, with each being better than the last.

John Cooper first couple years were rough, but once he got that thing going it really got going. He caught a lot of shit for not being able to beat Michigan, and he should have. But you remove that fact- he still won a SHIT ton of games.

Tressel was an even better coach than Cooper and he had no such issues against Michigan, he absolutely dominated them.

He got fired in the midst of a scandal and they go out and get Urban. They've had 3 pretty damn good coaches all in a row, with each guy being a better coach than the last. It almost never happens like that.

Just watched the Orange Bowl. Haha, fuck Michigan. Crazy ending, but ultimately the skunkbears blew the comeback.

Also, fuck Michigan twice in this one, because they forced me to root for Florida State of all teams.

Anyone else skeptical about Peppers' injury? Why wasn't he on the sidelines with his teammates instead of in the press box? I suspect we'll be hearing him declare for the NFL draft in the next couple of days.

Absolutely! I was thinking the same thing. I would be very surprised if he isn't declaring for the draft. I mean, think about it...if you wanted to sit out of a bowl, and you wanted to use an injury as an excuse (But not something severe enough it would hurt your stock), what injury do you use? Hamstring. Coincidence? Perhaps, but it's awful convenient to have such an injury the very day before the bowl. I do think he should have at least been on the sidelines with his teammates.

I disagree with you guys.

I do think he will declare for the draft, no reason for him to come back.

But I think he had a hamstring issue. I would guess he could have played, but no need for him to risk further injury. If it was a playoff game I think he would have given a try.

We'll see Harbaughs coaching chops next year, this team on paper could be rough. Losing:

RB: Smith and Isaac
FB: Hill
WR: Chesson and Darboh
TE: Butt
OL: Braden, Magnuson, Kalis

+ LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE STARTER ON DEFENSE!

I know they have talent coming in and up but damn that's brutal.

Sherm, we need to heal as a team and come together. This division helps no one!

Cannot stand Jimbo Fisher or FSU. But I had to pull for them over Michigan without question.

Cook is going to be a total stud in the NFL. Love watching him run the ball.

That game was the epitomy of what it means to be a Notre Dame football fan. Any fan of ann arbor more had a brief feel for our misery

43 starters and harbaught just went 1-3. Next year won't be pretty when Urban comes to town for his annual blow job.

Will be interesting to see how Harbaugh gets UM ready to play for next year. A lot of young players going to have to step up. I must admit that those seniors played with a lot of heart last night. The talent level isn't there yet, and FSU wasn't the typical FSU team of the last four or five years, but meatchicken was in a position to win the game and that speaks a lot of Harbaugh and his coaching ability. He is still a winey little prick and a little off upstairs, but he can coach.

Town, I agree with 99% of anything you day, but um absolutely had talent this year. Look at their recruiting classes from last 4 years, look at 43 seniors, look at all 11 defensive starters making all conference. This was the year for them. 1-3 Inot last 4 games. They were loaded.

FSU vs Michigan. Couldn't watch it because I knew one of them was going to win.

But hey, it beats the thought of an SC - Miami National Championship Game. Convicts vs Convicts.

If loaded means two really good players surrounded by a ton of slow white boys, then meatchicken was just that... loaded. Finishing 1-3 was not how Harbaugh envisioned his season, but I do think the B1G was a bit overrated this season. I think he is still a couple of recruiting classes away from having the type of talent he need to be a serious contender. Harbaugh will earn his money next year. But he does have their program headed in the right direction IMO.
