going to be sponsored by Nikes "Jordan" brand

I love the move simply because I love the Jordan brand gear. Doesn't hurt either to be associated with the greatest athlete in the history of sports and have him hand pick you to be his first football school and get all the free pub the school is getting in the news and on social media.

Also seems to be a hit with the recruits as well, as Jordan is the top sneaker brand in the world. It's still the top sneaker in pop culture and with young kids today. Playing for a Jordan school allows players to get a bunch of free shoes and gear that they wouldn't otherwise be able to. I very much doubt kids pick schools based on what brand makes the gear, but this certainly doesn't hurt. If anything it helps a tiny teeny bit.

He didn't "hand pick" Michigan. They pitched the same thing to Notre Dame.

well I've never heard that.

media reports from Detroit Free Press and ESPN reported that Jordan called Jim Harbaugh up and pitched the idea to Harbaugh. Harbaugh agreed to do it, so they made it happen.

Let's face it, Michael Jordan could've had any school that has a contract with Nike be a part of the Jordan brand. He's Michael Jordan. He could've gotten that done at his school, UNC. You think anybody gives a shit if UNC football wears Jordan? Not really. Michael Jordan is a businessman first and foremost. Football is king. The NFL is way bigger than the NBA and college football is way bigger than college basketball. He knows Michigan football will move a lot of Jordan apparel.

Love Jordan, but pitching a brand that's typically synonymous with basketball....to a football coach? That seems like an odd pairing. Michigan's basketball team, sure, that would be a pretty good look. Why pair yourself with a football program that hasn't been to the championship in almost 20 years and has won 1 1/2 championships since the AP was created?

The Jordan brand has been trading at a 15 point decrease since news of the Michigan deal was leaked. Apparently some analysts believe this signals the brand is after a somewhat lower socioeconomic market. Purportedly they will still hit their target numbers but will have to now distribute through Wal-Mart and Big Lots. I'm Perd Hapley and this has been a story on apparel and numbers. Now let's check in on the weather.

Considering Nike was associated with running way back when, they have expanded their biz. The gamble here is that Harballs is going to elevate the Michigan brand.

I think it's a great move by Michigan. Kids still love Jordans and they still love Nike. I love ND's Under Armour deal too bc the younger generation is all about UA, but I still like the UM move as well.

Hideous? I like it. What do u think about the new SS unis?

The new SS uniforms are ok (I would have preferred a littler darker green) but the helmets are bad. I am not a fan of all white uniforms.

I like the SS uni Kelly Green. Looks awesome. If they just don't wear those ugly ALL gold cleats with the standard uni's, all will be alright in the world.. lol

Hmm . . .

That's some fine Adidas work. I'm sure they spent months designing that.

One lone aging oriental lady on a Singer machine in a dusty loft over a wharehouse in the garment district . . .

surprised there weren't khaki

Oh, dude! Just too funny! Say, wait, wasn't JH the guy who brought in the alternative uniforms for the trees? Including the Darth Vader specials?

Michigan now has a '16 Class of 22. They have twelve Seniors and are three scholarships short of eighty-five. So, if all current players with eligibility left return, Michigan has fifteen scholarships to give out for '16. One Michigan blog estimated a '16 class size of 16-20.

Additionally, Michigan has set up Official Visits with nine uncommitted recruits so far.

they have a whole bunch of 2/3 star kids Harbaugh will cut before signing day. This is how he did it at Stanford, there's an article about it on mgoblog. he's not the most ethical when it comes to handling recruiting classes.
