Why is Michigan so adamant that the HC job is Jim Harbaugh's dream?

7)Knew Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh wanted M job, never offered either

Harbaugh was pretty critical of Michigan in '07 before Rodriguez came on board, he didn't seem to want anything to do with his former school. He supposedly burned a lot of bridges at that time. Michigan has had two coaching positions come and go, and Harbaugh hasn't seemed interested either time. Yet...somehow it's his dream job? Has he ever actually said this, or is it purely pie in the sky Michigan dreaming?

The grammar in that email is about what I would expect of a former meatchicken football captain. That's horrendous if you want the Regents to take you seriously.

I think it was the coldest since '91, which was against Navy and 24 degrees. BYU last year was 26 degrees and the first actual snow game since the Snow Bowl in '92. Syracuse in '08 was a close 2nd at 27 degrees...I didn't make it to BYU last year, but I was at Syracuse. It honestly felt colder than 27 with how the wind was and all.

Funny enough, I was at both Syracuse and BYU. At least I saw a W vs BYU.

I was at both of those as well (I try to go to the senior day game every year).

I think Syracuse definitely felt colder due to the wind and the fact that there had already been snow sitting in the stadium before it opened. Even though the air temp was warmer than it was for BYU, being in the stadium for Cuse was like sitting inside a freezer, whereas the stadium wasn't a literal ice-box prior to the snowy BYU game.

Also, the god-awful loss might have something to do with the frigid memory as well.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It DID feel like an ice box against Syracuse. The fact the snow was already down and the students were pelting the football players didn't help warm the mood either.

The Syracuse game was definitely frigid. A few of my friends left at halftime but I stuck it out, hoping the team would magically stop sucking. Alas.

The worst part of the game though was how ESPN created their stupid narrative about the students throwing snowballs at the players. That didn't happen. People were throwing snowballs at the NBC cameramen for the interminable TV timeouts in freezing weather. No one was throwing snowballs at our players ( though a few got into the benches because it's hard to be accurate from that far away). Lazy-ass ESPN reporting. There was a reason they didn't bother interviewing any students about that, and now it's become part of the narrative.

Right? Why would you email something like that anyway? A list of grievances to be taken seriously is probably not going to be received best through email.

Here's the email:

1)Student tix reorders down over14,000
2)alumni tix reorder down big (DB wont announce #)
3)DB micromanages M sports
– On sidelines during games, hugging and coaching players on nationwide television
-cutting nets down in regional final 4 championship, before head coach
-attends football staff meetings and reviews game films w coaches
4)Took U of M regents out of following decisions..
-$6,000,00 grant to fund lacrosse programs
-head coaching hires
-dynamic tix pricing
-seat licences affecting lifelong season ticket holder
-major price increases of season tickets to al (wants corporations, not lifelong M holders)
5)Got Mary Sue Coleman president job w his republican vote then got her to name him AD after telling regents he only ran for regent so he could pursue political dreams(governor)
6)Broke past AD promises of “lifelong season tickets” to alumni members
7)Knew Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh wanted M job, never offered either
8)Mott Children Hospital handling of Charles Woodsn and Hutchinson charity (YaleVan Dyne to elaborate)
9)Put Daktronics video billboard facing Stadium Blvd without first consulting city of Ann Arbor..forced to take 2M investmet down
10)Has been quoted many times in national media, “I was CEO of 3 fortune 500 companies and learned if it’s not broke, break it” He has succeeded in this one
11)Corporations,not alumni and students, rule M
12)Covered up Mary Sue Colemans drunk episode at Nebraska halftime as a “malfunction of the sound system”
13)Al Borges issues
14)Takes retired #’s and puts them on current players so he can sell more jerseys(what a prick and a slap in the face to all M tradition)
15)Sells sponsorship for head coach salary and others to people like Ira Harris e al
16)Everything for sale at U of M
Jacks up prices of hot dogs, water ect to students who cant afford it
17)Has alienated Schembechler boys
18)Did nothing after Ann Arbor police informed him before Iowa game that Brendan Gibbons and Lewan involved in rape case, then instructed coaches to say nada
19)Fires Ron Warhurst, Pam Stevens,Charley Green,Bruce Madeji and many others regardless of service to Michigan athletics
2)Reminds me of Adolph Hitler
Just a start boys, you and I have lots more

It probably didn't help that they asked Weis about it later and he took it as fact, reprimanding the students for their actions.

I'm sure if you were on the field you might not have been able to tell the difference, but in 4 years I never saw Weis aside from the games. I met Kelly his first day there. Weis' disconnect never did him any favors, and in this case he was no better an authority than the people asking the question. Students at ND are very loyal. We're not f*cking rage weasels who ditch their team in droves. Everyone was really surprised to learn why there were snowballs thrown that day on sportscenter that night. Because we had no idea we hated our fellow players that much.

My favorite part of that game was fans in our section throwing snowballs at the Syracuse mascot, that stupid orange. They started pelting him in the fourth quarter because he was dancing and telling us to get up and cheer after Cuse took the lead. The male cheerleaders had to start catching the projectiles inside of their megaphones haha.

Then the ushers went over and told the guys throwing them that they could be banned for life if they kept throwing snowballs.

Best usher in the stadium is Cliff in Section 10. He's been our dude since the '97 expansion, always the same section. I've never seen him bow to the blue hairs.

I was at this game as well with a good friend. I drank like 8 hot chocolates trying to stay warm. That was an absolutely miserable afternoon. Watching the student section throw snowballs at the team was disheartening. 8 hot chocolates a clean toilet bowl does not make.

Yes- hitting the cameraman on the tower was always applauded. The same thing used to be done with marshmallows. Took a very good heave to get to him. I was never able to do it...

Where were you sitting for the BYU game? It was windy as all get-out... I think the wind chill was something like -5. When I got indoors after BYU, I literally threw up from the shock to my system of going from (basically) zero to 72.

The data actually looks like Syracuse (the whole day) was colder but BYU was much windier.

BYU - High of 31, low of 21, wind 14 MPH gusting to 35
Syracuse - High of 28, low of 11, wind 5 MPH gusting to 15

I was well protected from the wind for the BYU game. We were second row behind the endzone (opposite TD Jesus).

Can't recall where I was for the BYU game, but the full force of the wind kept hitting me. I really was unprepared, just a hoody, hat and scarf for neck/face protection (not for fashion, I promise!).

Well I can't "pull off" the fashionable scarf. Just to be clear. I just end up looking silly.

I did spend four winters in South Bend. Damn near semi-tropical.

Howard: Nobody wants to be great at Michigan

Michigan is off to a 2-2 start, there's talk that head coach Brady Hoke is on the hotseat and ESPN's College GameDay dove into the Wolverines struggles, including an interview with Hokie.

The most compelling thing was Desmond Howard, the former Michigan wide receiver and GameDay co-host who said he visited a Wolverines practice and did not see any players that "wanted to be great".

"You know how you can tell if a guy wants to be great or not," Howard said. "The only guy there that had that type of swag was maybe, maybe, Jabrill Peppers the true freshmen."

Hoke sat down and talked about the negative buzz surrounding his status.

“If 115,000 want to boo me, I can handle it believe me," Hoke said. "We’ve got high standards and high expectations and high standards. We have 42 Big Ten championships. We want to get to No. 43."

When asked what he would tell his critics...

“I would tell them that we are getting it done the right way. This is a hard-working team. At the end of the day, stay with us, because these are special kids.”

Does he worry about his job status?

“Never have and never will. That is not a factor. If you get distracted over something like your job status, you are taking your energy away from those 115 sons and I am not going to do that.”

Part of Michigan's issue has been quarterback play as senior Devin Gardner has struggled. Former Michigan quarterback Brian Griese said on ESPN that he expects a new starter when the Wolverines play Minnesota at 3:30 p.m. today.

“I fully expect Shane Morris to start this game," Griese said. "I spoke with (Hoke) earlier and he's going to make an announcement just prior to kickoff."

Morris was an Elite 11 quarterback prospect in the 2013 class.

For the past 60 years, the heart and soul and Michigan has been the offensive line, but the last two seasons, it’s been shaky. With a roster that is 75 percent freshman and sophomore, it's no surprise that up front on offense it's a developmental situation for the Wolverines.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit said that some of the criticism of Michigan athletics director Dave Brandon, as pointed out in this article has rubbed some folks the wrong way in Ann Arbor during his tenure and faces a tough decision.

"Does he stick with (Hoke) or does he make a change, which is what the public wants," Herbstreit said.

The bottom line is that it takes time to fix an offensive line and Hoke and his staff have recruited high-level potential players up front. That being said, Michigan has not been the same since Lloyd Carr (2007) and at times a great program (Alabama prior to Nick Saban, Notre Dame post-Holtz and pre-Kelly) will have to go through the wilderness and years of transition before finding the right fit.

That's not to say that Hoke isn't. It's too early to tell, but this isn't a foreign concept to the great programs in college football. The good news is when they do find the right fit, they get back....quick.

I wear scarves regularly as sometimes heavy jackets are just too cumbersome down here. I was at a wedding in New Orleans in December and I had my suit and a scarf on. The scarf was a sunburst pattern so it was not very "manly." But my wife loved it so I wore it. A highlight of my young life was having Russell Batiste interrupt me in my conversation and compliment me. I was then able to use it during a Second Line around the Quarter led by the Treme Brass Band. Good times in the Big Easy.

At least 30 of those probably came against us, given the 2008 Michigan game where they couldn't hang onto the ball, the 2012 game where Denard threw us pick after pick, and this year's game.

Up here (North Country Way) scarves are less accessory and more "survivalist." I have an impressive collection but almost all are solid colors. Sometimes I like to liven things up with a red rather than a tan.

Congrats on your Second Line Strut. I would have loved to have been there.
