Calling it now....Jim McElwain will be the next coach if CSU beats BC this weekend. That will give CSU more momentum and will allow them to win 8+ games this year. If they don't, it will be Doc Holliday.

Look for Brandon to be fired first. While he has made a boat load of money for the program and the school he has smashed fan loyalty to bits. Hoke is Brandons guy. And don't believe for a second that Miles and Harbaugh weren't contacted. And don't believe for a second that they'll be interested in round 2. You don't win a lot of games in the NFL and come back to college. There is just too much demand for good coaches. And you don't leave LSU to go to a school where everything is monitored closely. Your kids have to play "school" and you can't oversign and greyshirt with reckless abandon.

Right no Michigan is in either the Willingham stage or Weis stage. Their next hire determines whether they are a tire fire for the next 5+ years or you land a program builder.

IMO they should have kept RichRod, his record was trending upwards. We'll see how far another "Michigan Man" goes. Which is laughable, because Schembechler was from Ohio.

I see very little difference in UM and LSU when it comes to their respective football programs and education. And iirc, LSU is doing as good, if not better job, of educating their football players than UM is. Maybe Whiskey would be able to give us more insight on how the two actually compare. UM should get credit for their grad programs... but their undergrad programs fall short.

You think so? Appreciate was Mac did during his stay in T Town, but his offense was as predictable as Diaco's defense at ND was.

Brady Hoke is from Centerville, OH which is pretty much the Dayton area

100% true Brandon didn't want Miles even though Miles wanted the job. Has to do with some past baggage and beef with Miles. Neither Harbaugh was interested at that point.

This time around, they could get one of the big three IF AND ONLY IF they're really willing to open the checkbook. I'm talking minimum $6 mil+ will probably do it. Both Jim and Miles much more probable than Jon I'd imagine... both have reasons to want out of current gigs.

From what I read it was Lloyd Carr who was against Miles getting the job.

I think Les would be a terrible fit for that program so I really hope they get him.

Hopefully they fail at this. We went through Davie, Willingham, and Weis. They need one more total boob, preferably someone who breaks the program in several ways at once.

Has there even been a case where a Conference Championship level coach ditched the NFL (not fired, but left on his own) for college?

Bill Walsh was retired before taking Stanford over for the second time. He was the first thought I had.

Dan Devine left the packers for ND, though I don't know how successful he was there.

He left the Packers because their fans were awful and insane... he received death threats and some vicious moron stooped so low as to kill the family pets. He wanted out of Green Bay.

I never heard that before...but it was a little before my time. Somebody went "Fatal Attraction" on him and killed his pets? That goes beyond horrible.

This is a random observation of mine, but... as a whole, I've never seen the scUM fan base so down before. Never. The Rich Rod era was nowhere near this level of depression for them. My significant others dad is the most reasonable scUM fan I've ever met, he always has reasonable expectations and he stays away from the kool aid each year. He lost hope in Brady Hoke last season, but now, he has even lost all hope in the AD office. My good friend, who went to scUM is donating all of his season tickets this year because he is so upset at the program and simply said, "It isn't worth the hassle traveling to Ann Arbor to see this shyte team."

Are any of you guys seeing this first hand?

Yes, I agree 100%, and you basically put your finger on it ... the fans have not only lost their trust in the coach but in the AD. I would be depressed too.

Somebody posted this over at ISD Ex-QB Michael Taylor rips Michigan football, leadership

I wonder how much traction this may gain. Quick excerpt below.

On what he wants: "Regardless what they do (with Brandon), there needs to be change. There needs to be change with how they treat former players, there needs to be change in how they treat African-American students on their campus. How former African-American football payers are treated. If that doesn't change, I'm not going to go to games. I'm not going to give them a dollar. I don't have $95 to pay for a ticket."

I was just arguing with some other ND fans (who felt we should join the B1G) that one reason we would never join the B1G was because of the seething bigotry and racism that was historically engendered by its membership, and especially UM. They countered by saying geographic proximity is more relevant than distant history. Guess it's not so distant in reality, is it?

It's just shocking to me to even hear that.

I hope ND had everything to do with this.
