Awesome read at MGOBLOG regarding the dumpster fire that they have on the offensive line. He rates the tackle position as a 1 out of 5 and the interior line as a 2 out of 5. All this coming from a Homer site. LOL
Preview 2014: Offensive Line | mgoblog
that's good stuff, but will ND be able to get pressure QB. UMs OL may not be very good but NDs DL may not be much better after loosing tuitt, nix and shembo. MSU had like 10 sacks vs UM last year and I don't remember ND getting one.

If we can't get pressure against an OL this bad, then we are in for a long, long year.

To be fair...MSU had one of the top defenses in the country last year and played an extremely aggressive style...ND played a complex read and react defense that was missing the the most decorated defensive player as their defensive QB in game 2 of the season along with tuitt not being what he was the year before and I dn't think Nix was hurt by that point

Every time he opens his mouth, he shows how incompetent he actually is. Literally every, single time.

Please, God, let him keep his job. He's exactly what the skunks deserve.

But Rack, bud, you are a really astute guy, do you think he can be anywhere near as dumb as he appears? How could that be true of anyone?

Just a little cheat. I knew a few guys in the locker room in the late 80's when he was at Toledo. He had a reputation as a players coach. Probably more because he was a softie that an inspirational or precise coach.

Hoke On Using Starters Down 31-0 Late: 'Is The Game Ever Over?'
Despite being down 31-0 and the game out of reach late, Brady Hoke kept many of his starters in against Notre Dame.

Top receiver Devin Funchess suffered what appeared to be a leg injury in the fourth quarter, and quarterback Devin Gardner was laid out on the final play after he threw an interception. The pick was returned for a touchdown, but called back as the hit on Gardner was flagged. Gardner limped off the field.

A week after explaining why he has many starters on special teams, despite injury concerns, he was again asked about injury concerns at his Monday press conference.

“That’s a delicate balance to some degree, because I don’t know, if you’re someone who competes, is the game ever over?” Hoke said. “I played at Ball State, and we scored 21 points in a minute and six seconds one year. … There ain’t any doubt you don’t want to be too prideful, too bull-headed and all that kind of stuff, but we were still in the football game.”

As for upset fans, Hoke said true fans will keep believing in the players.

Michigan hosts Miami (Ohio) this Saturday.

No, he's probably not as dumb as he comes off.

His ass is on the line...big time. If that were me I would not do the following things that he does:

- Not wear a headset
- Update the press about injuries
- Not insinuate upset fans are not "true fans"
- Play starters in a game that's already lost
- Just give generic, coachspeak responses during interviews (Kelly does this but, IMO, gives a little more depth in his responses and his job isn't in jeopardy)

Most people would act like they give a damn when their job is on the line. Hoke isn't changing anything and gets pissed when people ask him real questions about HIS team. That, to me, shows how dumb he actually is.

Idk if true or not. But the Michigan people I know are saying Funchess broke his ankle on that play on the sideline.

Hoke should hire a moving company now because Funchess is the entire offense. He's done.

Too bad for meatchicken. Hopefully they'll find someone who combines the best qualities of Hoke and RichRod: a fat POS who sings Josh Groban at press conferences.

He came back into the game and played a few snaps after the play... hard to imagine him doing so with a broken ankle....

Well that would really be an, "Oh, shiit!" moment, wouldn't it?

Gardner already has a hard enough time getting under center with the O-line in front of him. If Funchess is out, poor kid is going to have a nervous breakdown!

I don't see it anywhere legit. Just from a bunch of Michigan fans that are friends. Probably another excuse. As always. Carry on.

That's the double-edged sword of scUM's conundrum.

See, I want them to win because it boosts our SOS, but that would mean "rooting" for scUM which is out of the question.

But I want them to lose because...well, fuck Michigan. But if they lose, then other people are gonna say, "Oh well, Michigan sucks, so that win means nothing."

God, quite a pickle us scUM haters are in...

I don't see how it could be used as an excuse. The game was already well out of reach when the Funchess injury occurred.

My hate for Michigan doesn't outweigh my love for Notre Dame. I want all of our opponents to go undefeated except for games against us. I was fully pulling for Stanford over USC though, because one of them has to win and also FUSC.

A) With their schedule, how could U of M help our SOS?

2) If they do have a nine win season, and beat OSU, they may get Hoke back; that is more apropos than the gift that keeps on giving . . .

...and there's the 'good' about being in a conference... you can get curb stomped by a rival and still state with a serious face that real goals are still out there. A BIG title could go a long way to curing their current pain, and it's not like they're playing in the Pac 12 or SEC... it's possible.

He's not wrong. With their schedule it would be conceivable that they win the B1G. They probably won't, but they could.

EDIT: This is a fine opportunity for me to reiterate how much I hate the playoff. A B1G team that suffers an early blowout loss but then runs the table in conference play should have the opportunity to cap their season off with a trip to Pasadena. No such luck with the Rose Bowl serving as a semifinal game. We now have a system where anything less than "playoff" is seen as a failure, and that feeling will grow when the tournament is inevitably expanded to 8 teams.

If we are true ND fans, we don't allow short-sighted hatred obfuscate the clear outcome we should root for:

They need to win enough games to be slightly improved from last year. 8 wins would be great, because they'll keep Hoke and continue talk about rebuilding. Originally, I'd have wished 0-12 but Saturday night clued me in to how outmatched Hoke is, in comparison to Kelly.
