my buddy's friend's kid just committed to michigan...his name is gaige gacia 20'rb...his teammate was julian flemming #1 wr...he is one of the nation's best wrestlers so he is going to do both
That's pretty cool. I see he's an unrated recruit with no D1 offers besides the academies... how did things go down to get an offer from Michigan?
harbaugh had offered 2 of his teammates fleming-osu and haliday-msu...he went to michigan this past weekend on a visit to check out the wrestling program and to have a private work out in front of harbaugh....he did well enough i guess to get an offer...i told my buddy about them in the past pulling offers late but he has offers from everywhere for wrestling so if the football offer gets pulled he will have a wrestling offer wherever he wants...but his goal is that he wanted to play football in college
Awesome, makes perfect sense. Michigan is notorious for offering these kinds of prospects and then yanking offers very late, so you were smart to warn him about that. If he doesn't have other major football offers at the moment and has a bunch of wrestling offers as Plan B then it's very smart to take the Michigan football offer now and see how things play out. Congrats to him!
I never thought I'd post this, but I hope Michigan wins the College World Series. It would be a great big picture victory for Midwestern College Baseball.
Wichita State won it in 1989 and prior to that it was Ohio State in 1966. The rest has been the West and South.
Wish it didn't have to be Michigan, but I'll take what I can get at this point having seen that time line.

Those four words should never appear in that order on IE.

I saw about Garcia committing, it's a smart move by him, even if it's Michigan. I think other schools will take notice, especially G5s in an attempt to take him from Michigan with the promise of actual playing time.
He is a fantastic wrestler, and all I've heard is how good of a kid he is too. I wonder if his brother will get some looks now going into his sophomore year.

brother is supposedly better at both
Seems like little brothers usually are. Big brother teaches them by kicking their butt everyday until that time comes and big brother gets that look on his face.
I remember Bill James talking about how a disproportionate number of prospect busts in baseball were little brothers. He mused that they honed their skills playing with big brother(s) which made them more advanced at a younger age but also had less room to continue growth.
I have no opinion about football which is less skill-based than baseball. It's just something that leaped to mind.
