Freeman hired Parker.
ND didn’t get the guys out of Utah, but I don’t think they would eventually have came. I think they used ND to get raises, & they did. They got lifetime contracts.
But even then, Freeman could have looked around more. He had 3 other candidates interview too, & chose Parker.
Not worth it man. Recruits that we don't land, we didn't want anyways. The admin is making Freeman's hires for him. He lost those games last year because of BK. And, he'll never be able to recruit at ND now because of NIL.

These are the important facts to know, accept, and repeat.

Freeman has to take some of the blame for Stanford and Marshall. They had terrible game plans and the team wasn’t ready to play.

It’s hard to say what actually went on with Ludwig. Freeman had him in town. He was trying to close. That said, Scott commits to Ohio State, the top two players in Indiana commit elsewhere…you’ve gotta start to wonder.

I disagree.

I think that was the case, but like I said, OSU and Day basically said that the collectives need to get their asses in gear. This is Ohio State we're talking about. If they're given the green light, you can bet your ass, their crazed fanbase will pump NIL funds like there's no tomorrow.

ND has yet to do the same, and I don't know if they ever will.

Ohio State beat guys had a story last cycle where they lost Damon Wilson to Georgia because they couldn't match the offer. Something like Georgia doubled the NIL Ohio State offered. Now this year they get Scott out of nowhere, lead for Dylan Stewart, and Eddrick Houston and KJ Bolden is a possibility... I would say they definitely upped their NIL game. Also let's remember that these kids aren't gonna say they went to a school for NIL. Rushing will say he chose Oregon cause the coaches, Scott picked tOSU cause Johnson, and Keeley wanted to be developed. Remember A&M just really hit the trail hard in '22 and built relationships it wasn't NIL.

This is not an opinion, this is factual.

How much OSU is spending isn’t in the same zip code as Miami & UGA.

Miami commits are getting condos on Miami Beach, cash & sports cars.
UGA commits are getting cash & $100k cars.

OSU isn’t giving their commits anywhere near that.

Ohio St has joined the big spenders. Just took them longer to dial in the various entities.

And your take on NIL not being the problem isn’t a good take. Its not to blame for every guy, ND’s average guys do as well as most but when it comes to the guys that matter, it’s the 50lb cherry on top of all of the self imposed hurdles ND choses to jump over. If I’m a billionaire, Rushing and Keeley are starting for ND in ‘25 and there’s nothing Jenkins and the BOT could do to stop it.

As for Scott, Ohio St would’ve out bid me.

Until Freemen figures out the impossible we will always need a MASSIVE difference maker at QB.. a Johnny Manziel or Trevor Lawrence type.. which we haven’t had until now.

These QBs cover deficiencies & I’m not optimistic we ever recruit defensively at the level the elites do..

ND refuses to play the money game & these kids actually have to attend class, study & work hard in the classroom.. unfortunately these are massive hurdles for 5* kids that know Bama, Georgia, OSU won’t hold them to any standards off the football field & give them a great shot at NCs & the NFL..

I don’t think there’s a coach in the country that can overcome those hurdles,.

The fact that Freeman is recruiting at the level he is, is quite impressive.

If he can stay in the top 10 every year & just keep getting THE QB we’ll get a legit shot every now & then.
I think the major priority for most 5* kids is what school can prepare them best for the NFL. For a DL kid, Ohio State is light years ahead of ND. Put out 1st round picks and kids will come.

ND's alumni are not like ATM, The U or OSU....they are frugal bunch. NIL will not explode at ND even if they BOT had a pro NIL position.

Omg. Who the F*ck cares. From day 1 Scott was looking to go elsewhere. Not surprised. Bigger tragedies in life than getting worked up over 18 yo boys and a game.
I am sure you don't pay for recruiting intel or pay sites? Casual poster, huh? Like the ND administration is about getting a Natty, I suppose.

Staff should have taken is commitment back in Jan or whenever he wanted to Commit to Freeman who cares if he visits other schools. Regardless if he decommits you are back in the same situation you are now.
And this is one reason we don't land 5 stars. Stupid rules and bad instincts. You of course take the verbal commitment. Its like taking the hill and then you fucking defend it. Freeman too smart for his own good told him to look around...as though ND was fucking BAMA. Dumb move.

Serious question: Where did you come up with this position? And by frugal are talking about the football team only? Where do ND alums rank in donations to the football program and the the school’s general fund?

Totally disagree. I do not want ND to be a placeholder until a recruit gets the offer they wanted. Either you commit to ND or you don’t. We have no clue how many recruits may not consider ND because of who is “committed” when they really aren’t.

Anyone who doesn’t think we shelled out $$$ for Sam Hartman, the #1 QB in the portal, is kidding themselves. We just aren’t making up front promises to high school juniors.

After Cam committed to ND, other programs offered him large amounts of money to flip.

ND & Michigan being his top 2 shows he wasn’t a NIL kid.
Cam goes to Glenbard South. Glen Ellyn is a decent west suburb. I think he values the ND values. The problem is these kids are not always in the Top 100. Hope he and CJ kill it for ND>

He has no clue. His posts are out of his ass with no data to back it up. Emotional dicks should not be allowed to post…only read.

No they are generous to the school. That is different. But they are not going to be big NIL spenders - at least the rich ND alumni I know. They value the education and LIKE the football program.

I’m sure we count all of them on one dick.

Sorry you are being emotional. Lets see how the FUND does relative to OSU's collective. Good luck with that.

No emotion, just facts. I have several clients that are very wealthy alumni that donate and would give more to football than the endowment. They can’t wait to see ND football consistently in the CFP and will do their part to fund it.

Any chance they start a collective so we can start getting the Rushing's, Scott's, Keeley's, Bowen's, etc?

What really sucks is that most were fed that Scott was considering Miami and Notre Dame…maybe Michigan. Then, he commits to Ohio State out of the blue. For once, it would be refreshing for Notre Dame to snag an elite, blue chip recruit out of left field.

ETA: I can’t wait to hear Irishbreakdown’s commentary on this.

Oh for sure. I am sure you can count on "one dick" as you like to say, the 5 stars going for ND's NIL. I am sure with these generous ND's alumni the FUND is overflowing with resources.

The reality is when Brady Quinn is tooling around with announcing the FUND - Ryan Day told the Columbus and OSU network I will need $12MM just to compete - with specifics. Looks like OSU is playing for keeps.

Notre Dame is not going to give a bunch of 17/18 yr olds millions of dollars up front. You know, I know and most ND fans know it. Either understand it and quit bitching about the same thing over and over and over again of for cheer for someone else that will pay kids.

That has nothing to do with your bullshit post. You said “But they are not going to be big NIL spenders - at least the rich ND alumni I know. They value the education and LIKE the football program”. I am just stating a lot of wealthy alumni will give to the football program if ND allows it. They already give to the FUND. Quit changing the narrative.
