Golden and Washington should be on the hot seat this season. If Washington was that good wouldn't he still be at OSU? I think if Golden was offered the right opportunity to get back to the NFL he would go.

Losing Keeley & Bowen are bigger loses than Scott. I think Freeman was a better recruiter as a DC, but I also think he can do better than Golden & Washington.

Do things change with Scott if we beat OSU?
Uh, no. Still, it would be nice for ND to put the hammer down on O$U though!

I think this is just the opposite situation. The first part of the analysis is spot on, the second part is off base.

Here’s a young man that sways like the wind (Which is ok, he’s 17). Freeman knew this would be a long process. If ND took is commitment, it still won’t be over. He would be dancing with Miami, UM, and OSU. This feels like Keely and Bowen, and Scott was just gonna keep looking and flirty and feeling the love everywhere he went.

When Freeman didn’t take his commitment, I believe he knew that Scott had only really started the process and would continue the dance whether or not he was committed. And I don’t think it’s over yet. Maybe he stays with OSU, but I think the drama continues right until signing day.
Agreed. That's why even with him making a public announcement you keep on him.
And get him to take an official.
You always want last at bat for the kids who can't say no...
Id bet money he commits to at least one more school before his recruitment is done.

What am I missing from his troll job? He seemed to be tight lipped and obviously nobody knew anything. Most smartniks had us 1 or 2 and ND didn’t even have a “hat on the table”. What’s the mood coming out of the Gug?

There was zero trolling about his recruitment. He wouldn't visit and made it clear he had little interest in ND after he held off on committing earlier this year. Our fans just got strung along by people like Driskell who fed them a bunch of BS.

Until Freemen figures out the impossible we will always need a MASSIVE difference maker at QB.. a Johnny Manziel or Trevor Lawrence type.. which we haven’t had until now.

These QBs cover deficiencies & I’m not optimistic we ever recruit defensively at the level the elites do..

ND refuses to play the money game & these kids actually have to attend class, study & work hard in the classroom.. unfortunately these are massive hurdles for 5* kids that know Bama, Georgia, OSU won’t hold them to any standards off the football field & give them a great shot at NCs & the NFL..

I don’t think there’s a coach in the country that can overcome those hurdles,.

The fact that Freeman is recruiting at the level he is, is quite impressive.

If he can stay in the top 10 every year & just keep getting THE QB we’ll get a legit shot every now & then.

Boy it would have been great to see what Marcus Freeman could have done on the recruiting trail before NIL. I think it’s not a Marcus Freeman problem but a Notre Dame BOT problem. Something is going to have to change.

Do the majority of ND boosters not really want them to win a Natty? I still can't believe we don't have boosters playing the NIL game by dropping bags for recruits.

If a girl makes the move to hook up with you, and you say NO because you don’t want to move too fast, said girl will never give you the opportunity again.

Freeman doing a 180 because of Bowen potentially cost us Scott.

The only firm stance imo a coach should have is if you’re still looking we’re still looking. This no visits or can’t visit nd if committed elsewhere is great if your saban or Kirby. We just went 8-4 with losses to Marshall and worst Stanford team in decades and we’re saying no to 5 stars to not get burned lol

Someone needs to light Shaun Davis up. What a joke, 5 bucks tomorrow he comes out and blames ND for not offering early and locking things up. What a joke, Scott would have never committed early and he obviously loves the process. Cue the IB Al Washington trolling when we were never really players in this after January. He chose to work over coming to the Spring game, that should have told everyone the truth.

TBH we can’t expect much in recruiting until we start winning, we can’t expect the Freeman effect to truly matter for these top guys.

Didn’t listen to it but I heard he’s lost it swaying that ND only recruited Scott because of IB and LL. Tempered to listen for a laugh but Malik’s takes usually make me turn the damn thing off.

Du Lac is not going to allow a Tom Mendoza to pay a player - recruit or student athlete. Du Lac will make it go through the proper channels laid out by the NCAA.
So we're going by the book meanwhile OSU, USC, and the SEC are able to do whatever they want? If the NCAA isn't going to do anything, who cares?

You do know that there are members of Admin who are geninuely interested/considering what it would look like to form a "catholic" (academic league) right? Even Jack floated it publicly at one point.

ND Admin has no interest in keeping up with the big boys.

the amount of people out of Freeman after he “only” went 9-4 with one of the worst starting QBs in FBS football and signed one of ND’s best classes in 20 years is remarkable. You guys really thought the 35 year-old who was a DC at Cincinnati 2 years prior was going to immediately sign top 5 classes and go to the playoff?

The more accurate analogy would be a girl wants to say yes to your engagement proposal but still wants to sleep around until the wedding. Which, to me, doesnt seem like a girl you would want to be engaged to

They fixed the problem. Good. Now they can compete better with the other big boys.

ND should probably just form some sort of academic amateur league with Vanderbilt, Stanford, etc. and stay away from big time cfb. It's really not for them.

Well, the B1G and SEC are going to crush the remainder of the P5 in revenue so something's going to give. The Big 12, PAC, and ACC aren't going to have a chance in that arms race. So what are they going to do?
