Omg. Who the F*ck cares. From day 1 Scott was looking to go elsewhere. Not surprised. Bigger tragedies in life than getting worked up over 18 yo boys and a game.
Who cares? You’re on a college football message board in July. The answer is a bunch of lunatics who do care or we wouldn’t be spending our time on a college football message board in July.

This thread sucks. Everyone is way too negative over a recruit that will need at least two years before he is ready for playing time in a power 5 game.
Right now this thread is almost as bad as loosing to Marshall.
Let me know when it’s as bad as losing to Stanford.
That Marshall team beats Stanford by 2 scores…

If we’re being fair, we can pick out bad losses from all coaches.
We are discussing the current coach. Since that’s all that matters now.

But I guess we can discuss Knute Rockne’s loss to Iowa when he didn’t show up to coach & had the best players with him to scout other teams?

Someone needs to light Shaun Davis up. What a joke, 5 bucks tomorrow he comes out and blames ND for not offering early and locking things up. What a joke, Scott would have never committed early and he obviously loves the process. Cue the IB Al Washington trolling when we were never really players in this after January. He chose to work over coming to the Spring game, that should have told everyone the truth.

TBH we can’t expect much in recruiting until we start winning, we can’t expect the Freeman effect to truly matter for these top guys.

It always has & always will be about winning.
Look at Clemson. They had 12-20th ranked classes until they won, then they started racking up 5 Stars.

In all reality Scott is a 4* player. There would be a lot less crying if he was accurately rated.

Perception is really kicking this fanbase right now.

I think this would be an easier pill to swallow if ND had a few more wins on the trail recently, but it's been rough.

Losing Canion and then Scott spurning us in the same weekend will deflate any fanbase that isn't Alabama or Georgia.

Sucks because it’s hard to laugh at UM for being 2nd.

I don’t subscribe to the “this is not a big deal” shrug off mentality..

This is a prime example of us not being able to take the elite step up.

It’s simple.. as a life long fan I want to see legitimate title runs..

We’ve gotten close but once we face the elite, we lose.. mainly bc of QB & defensive recruiting

Everyone saw the short time we had Aaron Lynch & Stephon Tuitt lining up together..

The elites are picking up guys like this every year & we’re getting them once every 5 or 6 years maybe..

Keeley & Scott would have been huge additions to the DL.. That’s the talent that allows you to compete for NCs

Freeman has to find a way to start attracting & keeping these guys..

It is if you’re an Ohio State fan. They load up per usual and win playoff games per usual.
They've won all of 1 in the last 9 years, and they were at a massively unfair advantage going into it, since they played half a season and were far fresher than everybody else. And they still got de-cleated by Alabama.

I wouldn't say it's "per usual".

This is the kind of stuff that cracks me up. This was posted 2 days prior to the commitment. Two. Days.

These mofos don't know anything at all.

Justin Scott would commit to a fly on the wall, that’s how much each visit affected him.
He loved ND early & wanted to commit. Freeman wouldn’t take it.
He visits Miami & loved it. He visited UGA and loved it. Then he decided he wanted to stay up north. He visited Michigan and was going to commit. Then he visited OSU, who wasn’t even in it, & Larry Johnson literally pressured him into committing.
OSU did the exact opposite thing ND did. They knew the kid was an easy push and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Freeman needs to figure these kids out. If he accepted Scott’s commitment back in January, UGA & Miami would have been fun trips for him but he wasn’t leaving the north. OSU and Michigan would never have happened.
He wouldn’t be able to tell Freeman no.
ND screwed the pooch on this one.

You’d have to think they’ll need 3 DT’s in the 2025 class, right? Taking 1 DT in both 2023 and 2024 won’t cut it.

Probably right on all of it but he would've still went on visits then and ended up at Ohio St.

Washington, Golden and Freeman are all on the hot seat. Freeman's recruiting prowess was way overblown upon his arrival at ND. Losing Scott is the fault of BK. ND will never win anything ever again as long as this defensive staff is in place. It's July now and the recruiting season is officially dead for ND. Michigan still sucks. I think that about covers it.

I think this is just the opposite situation. The first part of the analysis is spot on, the second part is off base.

Here’s a young man that sways like the wind (Which is ok, he’s 17). Freeman knew this would be a long process. If ND took is commitment, it still won’t be over. He would be dancing with Miami, UM, and OSU. This feels like Keely and Bowen, and Scott was just gonna keep looking and flirty and feeling the love everywhere he went.

When Freeman didn’t take his commitment, I believe he knew that Scott had only really started the process and would continue the dance whether or not he was committed. And I don’t think it’s over yet. Maybe he stays with OSU, but I think the drama continues right until signing day.

Staff should have taken is commitment back in Jan or whenever he wanted to Commit to Freeman who cares if he visits other schools. Regardless if he decommits you are back in the same situation you are now.

Golden and Washington should be on the hot seat this season. If Washington was that good wouldn't he still be at OSU? I think if Golden was offered the right opportunity to get back to the NFL he would go.

Losing Keeley & Bowen are bigger loses than Scott. I think Freeman was a better recruiter as a DC, but I also think he can do better than Golden & Washington.

Do things change with Scott if we beat OSU?
